MileHigh Prep Report 8-Man Regular Season Awards

My 2018 8-man Regular Season Awards.  Picking these players is never easy and usually takes me a while to decide on any of these awards.  I am stuck using Maxpreps for stats unless they are sent to me.  I used the stats on Maxpreps on 11/02.  I physically could not make every game, so I used stats and tried to watch any film available.  I will not lie, and I leaned heavily towards teams that made the playoffs for picking First/Second teams.

Quick Note: If your team has not posted stats it is very hard for me to give awards to players with no stats even if your team is doing good I cannot guess stats.

One other Note: Being a lineman in high school it also hurt me inside not giving any offensive lineman awards.  So, this year I have decided to give two offensive line groups into my First and Second team offenses.

Player of the Year: Luis Dominguez Sr. West Grand High School; 894 yards passing, 15 TD’s, 4 INT’s, 1,239 yards rushing, 18 TD’s, and 36 Tackles, 5 INT’s, and 1 Defensive TD.

Offensive Player of the Year: Frank Torrez Sr. Sargent High School; 1,338 yards passing, 17 TD’s, 3 INT’s, and 748 yards rushing and 12 TD’s.

Defensive Player of the Year: Breccen Morelli Jr. Mancos High School; 53 Total Tackles, 7.0 Tackles for loss, 9.5 Sacks, and 2 Fumble Recovery’s

QB of the Year: Kobe Davis Sr. Holly High School; 1,691 yards passing, 16 TDs, 4 INT’s, and 62% completion percentage.

RB of the Year: Jace Logan Sr. Soroco High School; 2,507 yards rushing and 44 TD’s

WR of the Year: Cj Hoff Sr. Front Range Christian; 1,176 yards receiving and 17 TD’s

Most Tackles: Jordan Knight Sr. 132 Tackles (59 Solo and 73 Asst)

Most Sacks: Jarett Rushton Sr. Holly High School (12.5 Sacks)

Most Interceptions: Devin Ramirez Sr. Rangely High School (13 Interceptions)

Surprise team of the Year: Rangely High School (2-7 last year)

Coach of the Year: Paul Fortunato Rangely High School
