MileHigh Prep Report Preseason Rankings 6-Man

Note: I am just going to quickly give the rankings and a quick breakdown of what they are returning.  Later on, in August full league breakdown.

Class 6-Man

Rank Team Notes
#1 Stratton/Liberty The Defending State Champions lose a very talented senior class but do have some talent coming back.  Jaret Lichty will be the main offensive threat coming back but the rest of the team will have to step up.  Defensively Jaret Lichty and Trevor Frank must step up this year.
#2 Kit Carson Kit Carson had a great run last year reaching the State Championship but coming up just short.  Kit Carson is returning a ton of talent.  Offensively a new QB must be found but look for Cordell Farmer to step into that role.  Top rusher Joe Bryan returns and looks for another 1000 yard season.  Defensively 6 of the top 8 tacklers return.
#3 Fleming Fleming is another team coming back with a ton of talent.  Fleming went 7-4 last year but i expect this team to be much better this year.  Offensively they return QB Kade Comstock and RB Brandon Williams.  Defensively this could be a top 3 unit with their top 10 tacklers all returning.
#4 Cheyenne Wells HS Cheyenne Wells went 5-4 last year and are hoping to bounce back in a big way this year.  Offensively they return QB Kyle Nelson and do it all RB Quade Pelton.  Offensively this unit will be much improved.  Defensively Cheyenne Wells returns 6 of their top 8 tacklers and this team just needs to come together.
#5 Prairie HS Prairie went 7-4 last year which was a good year considering the seniors that graduated the year before.  Prairie now comes back with some talent and looking for an improved season.  Prairie returns QB Mitch Dollerschell.  At RB #4 rusher Patrick Thompson returns but someone else must step up and help this rushing attack.  Defensively Prairie returns 4 of their 8 top tacklers but have leadership coming back with Holzworth coming back.
#6 Flagler/Hi Plains The injury bug hurt Flagler/Hi Plains last year but look for a young team to really bounce back this year.  Zayd Banks has another year of experience after a good sophomore year and look for Chris Hile to have a big season at RB.  Defensively Flagler/Hi Plains should improve to a Top 10 defense with 5 of their 8 top tacklers returning.
#7 Idalia HS Idalia took another big step last year reaching the playoffs but they still went 4-6 and look for them to improve that mark this year.  Offensively Dax Towns returns at QB but the loss of RB Sam McGinnis will hurt. Look for Sophomore Yahir Enriquez to step up and take over at the RB position.  Defensively 5 of their top 8 tacklers return and look for Caleb Wingfield to step up and lead the defense.
#8 Cotopaxi HS Cotopaxi qualified for the playoffs last year going 7-3 but lost in the first round.  I was not sure how good Cotopaxi would be last year losing a good senior class so all the experience gained will be crucial.  Offensively Cotopaxi returns QB Peter Belt and look for RB Tyler Sawyer to have a big year.  Defensively Cotopaxi could be a Top 5 defense this year with 7 of their 8 top tacklers returning.  The real question will be can a Southwestern team step up and make it to the second round.
#9 North Park HS North Park had a tough season last year going 3-6 but still got into the playoffs.  That was impressive especially with the young team they had last year. Offensively this year they do have to replace Bryce Carlstorm but look for Eli Houston and Destry Schmidt to step up and lead the offense.  On Defense North Park returns their top 3 tacklers plus 6 of their 8 top tacklers.  North Park just needs to find leadership and they should improve on their 3-6 mark.
#10 Briggsdale Briggsdale went 3-6 last year but missed the playoffs and this squad will look to improve on that and make the playoffs.  Offensively Briggsdale returns QB Tyler Blickem who threw for over 2300 yards last year.  His top target Zach Bauer also returns as well.  Defensively Briggsdale is missing some talent losing their top 4 tacklers but some key pieces should help this defense.
#11 Mountain Valley Mountain Valley is another tough Southwestern team to qualified for the playoffs last year.  Offensively they return a lot of talent QB Salvador Vigil should improve from last year once he returns from his injury and RB Elijah Roberts must step up early on until Vigil returns.  Defensively Mountain Valley returns a ton of talent with 7 of their 8 top tacklers returning.  This side of the ball must step up this year.  Mountain Valley like Cotopaxi are looking to prove that they are a big threat outside of their league.
#12 Genoa-Hugo Genoa-Hugo went 5-4 last year and made the playoffs after losing a good senior class is a big feat for this team.  Offensively Genoa-Hugo needs to find a new QB but look for Colby Simmons to step up their.  At RB Wyatt Miller returns to lead that group.  Defensively Genoa-Hugo returns their top 3 tacklers but losing senior leadership could hurt this unit a bit.  I do expect Genoa-Hugo to be a top 10 defense this year.
#13 Otis Otis lost a good senior class last year and took the majority of offense with it.  Christian Nation, James Collins, and Tyler Reynolds will have to step up and fill the holes.  Defensively Otis returns leading tackler Christian Nation but also this unit was hit hard by graduation.  We will see how Otis plays this year.
#14 Peetz Another team that losses a lot of offensive talent to graduation will have to fill those holes.  Look for QB/RB Cooper White to step up and also Charles Fehringer.
#15 Granada Granada played there first year of 6-man last year and made the playoffs.  Granada does loss some talent from last year’s team but QB Dominic Coleman should have another big year.  Caleb Dorenkamp must step up at RB.  Defensively Granada has holes to fill with just 3 of their 8 top tacklers returning.
Other Teams to Watch Arickaree/Woodlin, Walsh, Sierra Grande, Deer Trail, Eads
