Southern Colorado Wrestling update by Carlos Valencia

The second half of the season is upon us. There were some tournaments last week that I didnt know of. The Colt Classic was one I saw held by Pueblo South, as Rocky Ford won the team title there by a good margin.

This week the southern teams will be all over the place. We have teams attending the Gunnison Cowboy Invitational, the Rocky Mountain Invitational held in Pagosa Springs, and the Alamosa Invitational. These tournaments will be showcasing all classes at each tournament, which should be some exciting matches in the later rounds.

We got a new 3A team taking over the top spot in this weeks ranking, congrats to Alamosa. Other teams that are ranked are Rocky Ford, Centuari, John Mall, Buena Vista in 2A, and Pagosa Springs in 3A. Keep up the good work to those teams and hope to your teams continue to grow and succeed.

Now that the break is over the wrestlers should start getting to the weight they are going to wrestle with the 2lb allowence. We should see some kids at a lower weight due to which the weight certification allows them to drop to. Alot of jumping in weight classes these next 2 weeks for teams.

Good luck to all the schools this weekend continue to learn to grow and get better on and off the mat.
