MileHigh Prep Report Preseason Rankings 6-Man

For 6-Man I think we have some incredibly talented teams and the battle to make it into the final 8 should be very good.  I think two teams are probably the favorite early on but look for some other teams to really push the top two.  Remember this is just my take on the rankings and is a starting point on the 2020 Football season and not who I think will make the playoffs.  I am only including teams playing in the Fall.  (Also, if teams have players not playing due to covid I may make changes to the rankings.)

Note: I am just going to quickly give the rankings and a quick breakdown of what they are returning.  Closer to the season I will go league by league and breakdown each league!

Class 2A

RankTeamNotes
#1Fleming   Made the playoffs, Defending State ChampionsFleming won the 6-Man State Title last year and will be back with plenty of talent to push for another State Title.  Fleming offensively returns QB Kade Comstock, #2 RB Charles Hobbs, and RB/WR Chris Goss.  Defensively Fleming will be looking to replace their #1 tackler from a year ago but return 5 of their top 8 and look for Brady Kuntz to step up as the leader of the Fleming Defense.
#2Stratton/Liberty   Made the playoffs, Runner-upsStratton/Liberty was the runner a year ago.  Stratton/Liberty does lose 4 seniors from last years team but have plenty coming back to push for a State Title.  Offensively Stratton/Liberty will be looking for a new QB looking off last years stuff look for Braden Wedel to possibly fill that hole.  At the RB you return Jaret Lichty who nearly rushed for 2000 a year ago.  Also, back on offense is Charlie Clapper and Tyler Hase.  Defensively Stratton/Liberty returns 5 of their top 8 tacklers and their #1 tackler.  Key players will have to step up for Stratton/Liberty defensively but this team will be very tough this season.
#3Prairie HS   Made the playoffs, lost in QuarterfinalsPrairie reached the Quarterfinals a year ago before falling to eventually State Champs Fleming.  Prairie offensively will be looking for a new QB and look for Andy Long to step into the hole.  Prairie will return RB Arek Wulf and he will have to become the leader early on for Prairie.  Prairie defensively will be key early in the season.  Prairie returns 5 of their top 8 tacklers including 4 of their top 5.  Prairie will be looking for some younger kids to step up this season on offense.
#4Granada HS   Made the playoffs, lost in First RoundGranada was upset in the first round a year ago, but a very young team gained some valuable experience.  Granada had 2 seniors last season and just 1 senior again this season so Granada should be tough for a few years.  Granada will have a new head coach this season as well.  Offensively Granada returns do it all QB Dominic Coleman who threw for 1600 yards and rushed for over 1100 yards.  Also returning offensively for Granada is John Hainer and Ivan Yanez.  Defensively Granada returns 6 of their top 8 tacklers.  Granada will look to improve the most on Defense this season.
#5Kit Carson   Made the playoffs, lost in the SemifinalsKit Carson reached the Semifinals a year ago and fell 1 game short a year ago.  Kit Carson lost some key pieces to last years team but have a good tradition and should be tough this season.  Kit Carson offensively returns QB Sullivan Farmer and he will be key offensively for Kit Carson this season.  At RB Kit Carson returns #3 rusher Paul Mitchek but will be looking for a pair of RB’s to step up.  Defensively Kit Carson returns just 3 of their top 8 tacklers but with Sullivan Farmer back to lead the defense they should still be tough.
#6Eads HS   Made the playoffs, lost in the QuarterfinalsEads reached the Quarterfinals falling to Kit Carson.  Eads will be returning a ton of talent and could be a team to watch for this season.  Offensively Eads will be talented return QB Cade McDowell and RB Damien Barnes (who rushed for over 2000 yards a year ago.  Eads will be looking for a few extra weapons on offense but will be tough if both Barnes and McDowell step up this season.  Defensively Eads must improve and should with 7 of their top 8 tacklers returning.  Eads returns their top 3 tacklers from last year and have the leadership to become a top defense.
#7Cheyenne Wells   Made the playoffs, lost in the semifinalsCheyenne Wells reached the Semifinals a year ago falling to Stratton/Liberty.  Cheyenne Wells is losing some key pieces to that team and will be looking for a few leaders to step up.  Cheyenne Wells will be in search of a new QB.  RB Cade Mitchek and Evan Worley will be the main pieces of Cheyenne Wells offense coming back.  Defensively Cheyenne Wells will be extremely tough returning 6 of their top 8 tacklers.  A new leader must step up but look for Cade Mitchek to really step up.
#8Hi-Plains   Made the playoffs, lost in the first round as Flagler/Hi PlainsHi-Plains returns to playing as just their school this season and should be extremely tough if I have figured out which players go to which team. I won’t go into to much depth in case I am wrong but I think Hi-Plains will be very tough this season.
#9Branson/Kim   Made the playoffs, lost in the QuarterfinalsBranson/Kim reached the Quarterfinals a year ago and fell just short to Stratton/Liberty.  Branson/Kim is losing a lot of key pieces to their team but have a lot of younger kids that will have to step up.  The defense for Branson/Kim will be the tough part until the offense gets figured out.
#10Cotopaxi   Made the playoffs, lost in the First RoundCotopaxi reached the playoffs again but fell to Prairie in the first round.  Cotopaxi is returning a ton of offensive weapons with QB Ty Coleman back along with RB Peter Belt.  Cotopaxi will have to find some WR to step up this season.  Defensively Cotopaxi returns 4 of their top 8 tacklers.  A leader will have to emerge on defense for Cotopaxi.
