6-Man Football League Predictions Update Week 9

We are 8 weeks thru the regular season and we crowned the final league champion. All League titles have been decided and now we are in the hunt for the final few spots for the playoffs. I do think anyone inside the top 13 are in a very good shape. #14, #15, and #16 in the RPI is were the battle is for the final spots in the playoffs. Playoff Team Predictions and Projections are in a separate article.

Central League

Genoa-Hugo is your Central League Champion.  Genoa-Hugo has the automatic berth into the playoffs and now look to improve their seed.  Genoa-Hugo picked up their first loss of the season falling to Cheyenne Wells 56-8.  Genoa-Hugo this week will host Cheraw in a battle to possibly host a first-round game.  I think if Genoa-Hugo wins out they host if not they could hit the road in the first round.

Hanover is a near lock for the playoffs.  Hanover picked up a huge win over Walsh 56-8 and sit at #13 in the RPI but are in a solid spot to make the playoffs.  Hanover this week will host Deer Trail, and this is for their spot in the playoffs.  If Hanover beats Deer Trail it will eliminate Deer Trail from the playoffs and should be enough to lock Hanover into a playoff spot, regardless of what happens in their final game against Briggsdale.  Hanover .034 ahead of the #17 team and a win over Deer Trail should be the last nail into getting into the playoffs.

Deer Trail

Deer Trail sits at 3-2 currently and #21 in the RPI.  Deer Trail I believe is to far back in the RPI to push for a playoff spot.  If Deer Trail upsets Hanover, then I will move them back into the playoff hunt but right now they are eliminated from the playoff hunt.

East Central League

Stratton is your league champion and receive the automatic berth into the playoffs.  Stratton last week defeated Peetz 76-0 and improved their record to 6-1.  Stratton now will look to keep improving their playoff seed and hope for a top 3 or maybe a top 2 seed.  Stratton this week hosts Briggsdale in a clash between 2 playoff bound teams.  Another important game for seeding purposes.  Stratton currently sit at #3 in the RPI.

Idalia is also a lock for the playoffs with a top 8 RPI.  Idalia sit at #6 in the RPI but have a tough schedule to close out the regular season.  This week Idalia hosts Fleming in a big clash for playoff seeding purposes.  Idalia with an upset could also push for a top 4 seed but regardless I think Idalia should be a top 8 seeded team barring a loss to AW in the final week of the season.  Idalia game against Fleming should be a great game.

Arickaree/Woodlin I believe is a lock for the playoffs.  Arickaree/Woodlin sit at #7 in the RPI and unless they loss to Peetz should be in.  Arickaree/Woodlin host Peetz this Friday night and Peetz will be playing desperate and Arickaree/Woodlin should as well as they are fighting for a top 8 seed in the playoffs.  Arickaree/Woodlin will be looking to bounce back against Peetz.

Hi-Plains really improved their playoff hopes picking up a huge win over Otis 58-7.  Hi-Plains RPI improved to #15 and would be in the playoffs if it ended today.  Hi-Plains still has 2 games remaining and the final game I have my eyes.  Hi-Plains this week hosts Cripple Creek and next week Hi-Plains hosts Eads.  Hi-Plains vs Eads will probably be for 1 of the final 2 spots in the playoffs. Hi-Plains though must first take care of business this week.

Otis took a small hit to their playoff hopes losing to Hi-Plains 58-7.  Otis now must rebound and must win this week.  Otis is still not eliminated from the playoffs as their RPI only fell to #18.  Otis this week host Pawnee and is a must win game.  Otis will face Prairie in the final week of the season and may need that upset to jump 2 teams to get into the playoffs.

Lock for the Playoff

Stratton (League Champion), Idalia, Arickaree/Woodlin

Otis, Hi-Plains

RPI Standings (As of 10/20)

#3 Stratton, #6 Idalia, #7 Arickaree/Woodlin, #15 Hi-Plains, #18 Otis, #22 Flagler

North League

Fleming is your North League Champion Defeating Prairie 52-51.  Fleming receives the automatic berth into the playoffs.  Fleming now looks to lock up a top 4 seed in the playoffs.  Fleming has a tough schedule to end the season with playoff matchups in each game.  Fleming this week travel to face Idalia.  Fleming winning out should lock up a top 4 seed, but these two games will be good tests heading towards the playoffs.  Fleming sits at #4 in the RPI.

Prairie is a lock for the playoffs but their RPI is dropping as they fall to #10 in the RPI.  Prairie lose back to back games for the first time this season falling to Fleming 52-51.  Prairie this week have a neutral game against #1 Cheyenne Wells.  Prairie with a loss here could see them move into bubble territory but we will have to see what happens.  Prairie I still think make the playoffs, but things get a little more interesting heading into the final week of the playoffs.

Briggsdale is a near lock for the playoffs sitting at #12 in the RPI.  Briggsdale still have two tough games remaining but neither will hurt their RPI regardless of the outcome.  Briggsdale this week travels to face Stratton.  Briggsdale with an upset could see themselves push for a top 8 seed.  Briggsdale will face Hanover in the final week of the season.

North Park

North Park is on the bubble sitting at #17 in the RPI.  North Park lost last week to Briggsdale 53-31 putting them outside the top 16.  North Park this week host Cotopaxi and this is North Parks final game of the season.  North Park must win this game and then hope their RPI improves enough to not get jumped.  North Park must take care of business this week against Cotopaxi.

Peetz needs to upset Arickaree/Woodlin this week.  I have moved Peetz to eliminated from the playoffs, but an upset gets their name back in the hat.  There is no way Peetz gets into the playoffs without a win this week.

Lock for the Playoffs

Briggsdale, North Park

Peetz, Pawnee, Weldon Valley

RPI Standings (As of 10/20)

South Central League

Branson/Kim has won the South-Central League and now have the automatic berth into the playoffs.  Branson/Kim now will focus on trying to improve seed heading into the playoffs.  Branson/Kim picked up their first loss of the season falling to Granada 72-22.  Branson/Kim has a bye this week before another big clash with Sierra Grande.  Branson/Kim is now fighting for a top 8 seed and may need the win over Sierra Grande to do that.

Miami-Yoder, Primero

RPI Standings (As of 10/20)

#11 Branson/Kim, #25 Miami-Yoder, #30 Primero

South East League

Cheyenne Wells

Cheyenne Wells is your Southeast League Champion.  Cheyenne Wells last week picked up a big non-league win over Genoa-Hugo 56-8.  Cheyenne Wells has 1 final game against Prairie this week and it’s a neutral game.  Cheyenne Wells with a win should be your #1 seed.  Cheyenne Wells sit at #1 in the RPI and should be tested this week by another playoff bound team.

Granada improved to 6-1 on the season and are a lock for the playoffs.  Granada picked up a 72-22 win over Branson/Kim that should lock them into a top 4 seed.  Granada has one final game remaining against Cotopaxi on 10/30.  Granada is a top 4 seed with a win over Cotopaxi next week.  Granada sits at #2 in the RPI.

Cheraw is a near lock for the playoffs, but I cannot lock them in due to their final 2 game schedule.  Cheraw will face Genoa-Hugo this week and then face Fleming in the final week of the season.  Cheraw, I believe even losing out still make the playoffs, but I want to see what their RPI does after this week.  Cheraw sits at #8 in the RPI.

Eads is currently a bubble team and sit at #16 in the RPI.  Eads will be playing for their playoff lives in their final two games of the season.  Eads is hoping to hold off North Park and Otis for the final spot.  Eads this week will travel to face Mountain Valley.  Eads with a win over Mountain Valley will give them a huge boost for the playoffs and nearly lock them in.  Eads with a loss probably need a win over Hi-Plains in the final game to get in.

Walsh is currently 2-6 and sit at #20 in the RPI.  I have moved them into eliminated from the playoffs.  Walsh would need to upset Stratton in the final week of the season to even put their name in the hat.  Walsh with a win over Miami-Yoder this week should see them moved into the #19 or #18 spot but still not enough.

Southwest League

Sierra Grande

Sierra Grande is your Southwest league champion.  Sierra Grande now looks to improve their seed for the playoffs.  Sierra Grande is coming off a solid 42-26 win over Arickaree/Woodlin.  This was a road game and at least a 6-hour drive that should prepare them for the playoffs.  Sierra Grande this week travel to Primero and should get that win.  Sierra Grande final game of the season is against Branson/Kim and could be to keep a top 8 seed.  Sierra Grande sit at #5 in the RPI.

Mountain Valley

Mountain Valley is a bubble team and sit at #14 in the RPI.  Mountain Valley picked up the 62-18 win over Primero last week.  Mountain Valley this week face another bubble team in Eads and the winner probably punches their ticket into the playoffs.  Loser puts themselves at a shot of being jumped for one of the final spots.  Mountain Valley needs the win over Eads.  This is one of the bigger games this week.
