MileHigh Prep Reports Top 10 Games of the Week (Class 3A)
We are doing something a bit different this season and looking at the top 10 games of the week. These games are picked by MileHigh Prep Report and ranking does not matter. We will separate into two classes and go from there for the first few weeks. If there are not 10 games that catch are eye, we will lower the number of games. Good Luck this season to all teams!
Class 3A
#4 Lutheran at #6 Pueblo East
A top 10 matchup in Class 3A kicks things off. Lutheran vs Pueblo East features two teams undefeated in the state of Colorado. Lutheran has a pair of solid wins over Mead and Discovery Canyon and they look for their third quality win. Pueblo East has surprised everyone so far and have a quality win over Pueblo Central and La Junta. This should be a good matchup between two different style teams.
#1 Roosevelt at 5A Highlands Ranch
Roosevelt looks to punch above their weight class going up against Highlands Ranch. This will be a good test for a red-hot Roosevelt team. Highlands Ranch is 1-2 and they look to pick up a win to get back on the right track.
#5 Durango at Grand Junction Central (4A)
A battle of two 2-1 teams. Durango made quick work of Aztec last week and seem to have fixed their offensive issues. Grand Junction Central is 2-1 and coming off a pair of wins. GJC looks to improve to 3-1 on the season.
Frederick at Silver Creek (4A)
Frederick enters at 1-2 and are coming off a 43-20 loss to Scottsbluff NE. Frederick will look to get things sorted out on defense this week as they prepare for an improved Silver Creek team. Silver Creek is 2-1 and coming off a 27-10 win over Boulder. Silver Creek looks to keep showing improvement and a win over a top 3A team would be a key win.
Englewood (2A) at Littleton
A great matchup here. Englewood enters at 2-0 and come off an OT win over Arvada. Defensively they played well and now look to pull a big win over a 3A opponent. Littleton enters the matchup at 3-0 and are coming off a 74-0 win over Alameda. Englewood and Little both played Arvada to a similar score so look for a very tight game.
#8 Evergreen vs Discovery Canyon
A pair of 2-1 do battle. Discovery Canyon makes the trip to face Evergreen. Evergreen is 2-1 on the season and bounced back after a tough loss beating Eagle Valley last week. Evergreen look for a key win over a perennial playoff team. Discovery Canyon is 2-1 and come off their first loss of the season. Discovery Canyon will look to right the ship against Evergreen.
#3 Northridge vs Greeley West (4A)
Another 3A vs 4A matchup. Northridge will host Greeley West. Northridge is currently undefeated and coming off a 63-8 win over Greeley Central. Northridge looks to stay perfect against Greeley schools. Greeley West is 1-2 on the season and coming off back to back losses. They will look to move back into the win column before kicking league play off.
Fort Morgan at Pueblo County
Fort Morgan at Pueblo County figured to be a top matchup early in the season but has lost a bit of the pull. Fort Morgan is 0-3 to start the season. Fort Morgan offensively has struggled to get going and they will hope to have things figured out this week. Pueblo County is 1-2 and will look to shake back-to-back losses. Pueblo County must get their running game going to find success against Fort Morgan.
#2 Green Mountain at Pueblo South
Another matchup people though could be a top 10 matchup at the beginning of the season. Pueblo South is off to a rough start at 0-2 and have yet to break the 14-point mark. Hopefully the bye week helped Pueblo South get things figured out. Green Mountain enters at 3-0 including a key win over Severance on 9/2. Green Mountain will have their first road game in Colorado, and we will see how they do against a perennial power.
Northfield at Denver North
A very underrated matchup. Northfield vs Denver North features two undefeated teams that look to improve to 3-0. Northfield has made the jump from 2A to 3A look somewhat easy beating 4A Aurora Central and Riverdale Ridge. Northfield now looks to take down a red-hot Denver North team. Denver North enters at 2-0 but have not faced the quality opponents Northfield has. Denver North needs that key win and could get that in this game.
