Class 3A Volleyball Weekly Review and Preview

Volleyball games have officially started! As teams begin facing opponents and building their records, the scramble is on for strong starts to the 2026 season. This week we examine our top 16 teams in 3A and see how they are starting off and which players are rising to lead their respective teams.
University
The Bulldogs start their season off with a 1-0 record after getting the win over Rampart 3-0. University will be looking to continue their momentum and add a win to their record this weekend as they host Forge Christian on 8/29. Next week, the team will kick of play by going on the road to take on Windsor on 9/1 and then they will come home to host Elizabeth on 9/3. Stat leaders after the first game for University are Kenley Rudiger with 3 blocks and 37 assists, Kaydence Lucero with 3 blocks, Grace Elbe with 2 blocks, Emma Francis with 2 aces and 8 kills, Livianna Aguilar with 1 ace, 11 digs, 5 assists and 15 receptions, Delaney Lauer with 1 ace, 8 digs, 2 assists 16 kills and 15 receptions, Holly Jennings with 7 digs, Carigen Lucero with 12 kills and Shylee Dyess with 19receptions.
Berthoud
After their first week of play, Berthoud is 3-0 after getting a 3-1 win over Poudre and 3-0 wins over Longmont and Thompson Valley. Today the team starts tournament play that spans over two days. Their first opponent tonight will be against Mountain View followed by Niwot. They will then play some games tomorrow depending on outcomes of the games. Next week, the team will go one the road to face Timnath on 9/1. Leading the team so far this season are Addison Jones with 7 blocks, 5 aces, and 20 kills, Lucy Kirklin with 3 blocks, Libby Wilson with 2 blocks, 5 aces, 12 digs, and 70 assists, Sasha Carter with 3 aces22 digs, 5 assists. And 23 receptions, Caroline Mahoney with 10 digs and 17 receptions, Avery Tychsen with 3 assists and 20 kills, and Amelia Major with 23 receptions.
Resurrection Christian
The Cougars kick off their season with a 3-0 start after getting wins over Colorado Academy 3-0, Forge Christian 3-0 and Windsor 3-2. During these games, stat leaders that have risen up for the team are Tatum Highstreet with 3 blocks, Corinne Soukup with 3 blocks and 2 aces, Sadie Whyard with 2 blocks and 10 kills, Kylee Mayes with 3 aces, 13 digs and 34 assists, Paige Michaelson with 2 aces, 6 digs, 11 kills and 12 receptions, Jada Nordhagen with 12 digs, 2 assists, and 19 receptions, Brooklyn Diepersloot with 7 kills and Bradee Seely with 6 receptions. Resurrection Christian will go on the road to play Thompson Valley on 8/31 for their next game.
The Classical Academy
The Classical Academy is 2-0 to start their season after their won their first game over Palmer Ridge 3-0 and then beat The Village 3-0. Tonight the team will be looking to add another win to their record as they take on The Academy. Next week, the team will remain home and host Lewis-Palmer on 9/1. Stat leaders for the Titans are Aubrie Renn with 5 blocks, 11 aces, and 14 kills, Caylee Somersalmi with 2 blocks, 5 aces, 14 digs, 18 kills, and 23 receptions, CJ Connelly with 2 blocks, Claire Campos with 4 aces, Ashlyn Delaney with 27 digs, 22 kills and 37 receptions, Addy Macha with 14 digs, 2 assists and 15 receptions, and Sydney Corr with 16 assists.
The Village
The Village was able to win their first game of the season that was against Pueblo County 3-2, but then the got their first loss of the season against TCA 0-3. The Mountaineers will be looking to get another win added to their record at the end of next week when they host Palisade on 9/4. Stat leaders so far this season for The Village are Alyssa Simmons with 4 blocks and 4 aces, Sofie Styre with 4 blocks, Ella Dorelus-Weems with 4 blocks and 8 kills, Emerson Lavine with 4 aces, 18 digs, 6 assists and 46 receptions, Norah Hollis with 3 aces, 16 digs, 35 kills and 37 receptions, Mary Estares with 17 digs, 2 assists, 29 kills and 26 receptions, and Cecillia Pederson with 73 assists.
Sterling
The Tigers are 2-0 to start their season after beating Yuma 3-0 and Sidney 3-0. Sterling will be looking to continue this streak as they host Gering on 9/1. Leading the Tiger’s stat board are Berkley Gardiner with 1 block3 aces, and 25 assists, Karsyn Tonche with 4 aces, 12 digs, and 12 kills, Addison Koester with 2 aces and 11 receptions, Kenzi Rubottom with 13 digs, 2 assists, 9 kills and 13 receptions, Elliana Pelton with 6 digs, Gabriella Manly with 4 assists, and Rylie Kaiser with 4 kills.
Forge Christian
The Fury are currently 1-1 on the season after getting a win over Lyons 3-1 and then falling to Resurrection Christian 0-3. Forge Christian will be looking to add more wins to their record in this next week of play. They will first go on the road to play University on 8/29 to end this week and then next week, the team will play Holy Family on 9/1 and Timnath on 9/3. Stat leaders for the Fury are Maddie Saba with 3 blocks and 14 kills, Genevieve Leonardi with 2 blocks, 18 kills and 25 receptions, Colbee White with 1 block, 2 aces, and 52 assists, Bella Tiner with 4 aces, 20 digs, 4 assists, and 73 receptions, Finley Queen with 3 aces and 16 digs, Addison Davis with 23 digs, 25 kills, and 25 receptions, and Grayson Taylor with 2 assists.
Eaton
The Reds were able to get their first win of the season during their first game which was against Windsor, 3-1. There is still a long season left, but the team will be looking to continue adding wins to their record as they play in tournament play this weekend. Their first opponent will be against Poudre followed by Longmont today, and then they will play tomorrow, times and opponents TBA. Then next week, the team will travel to Greeley Central on 9/3.
Stargate School
The Eagles were supposed to play Holy Family yesterday to kick off their 2026 season, but the score has not been posted as of this morning. Stargate school will be looking to play their next game tonight on the road against DSST: College View. Then next week, the team will play at home against Strasburg on 9/1.
Aspen
The Aspen will kick off their season on 9/1 when they go on the road to play the Gunnison Cowboys, who are currently 1-2. The team will then come home, potentially with a 1-0 start to their season, and play Glenwood Springs in hopes of starting off 2-0.
Holy Family
Holy Family is currently 2-0 on the season, with 3-0 wins over Peak to Peak and Jefferson Academy. The Tigers will play back-to-back next week starting on the road on 9/1 against Forge Christian and then on 9/2 they will be home against Broomfield.
Alamosa
Alamosa did not start their season the way they wanted and lost their first game of the year 1- 3 against Montrose. This weekend the Mean Moose will be looking to bounce back and add a few wins to their record during tournament play. Their first game tonight will be against Platte Valley followed by Peak to Peak. The team will then play tomorrow with times and opponents determined by game outcomes. The team will then have next week to get ready for league play which will take play in Centauri on 9/8.
Elizabeth
The Cardinals are 1-1 to start the season after losing their first game of the season to Discovery Canyon 2-3 but then getting the win over Woodland Park 3-0. Elizabeth will be looking to get the tie breaker tonight as they host Weld Central. Next week, the Cardinals will go on the road on 9/1 to play Coronado and then again on 9/3 to face University. Stat leaders for the team are Frankie Hayes with 4 blocks and 6 kills, Halli Connelley with 4 total blocks and 2 assists, Addy Erickson with 2 total blocks, Alyssa Martinez with 5 aces and13 assists, Tori Evans with 3 aces17 digs and 11 receptions, Ellie Ryan with 3 aces, 13 digs, and 15 receptions, Rebecca Engel with 20 digs and 30 receptions, Kimber Heideman with 10 assists and 8 kills, and Campbell Dickman with 7 kills.
Gunnison
The Cowboys are currently 1-2 on the season after losing to North Fork 1-3 and Sanford 0-3 and then getting their first win of the season against Rye 3-2. Gunnison will be looking to continue adding wins to their record as they take on Roaring Fork on 8/29 to end this week. Next week, the team will host Aspen on 9/1 and then they will go on the road to play Vail Christian on 9/4.
Middle Park
Middle Park has not started game play yet and will kick off their season on 9/10 on the road to take on Moffat County. The team will have two seniors, Hannah Bauckman and Lena Prather, and will be returning Jolee Paugh, Begona Diaz, Aaliyah Roberts, Emmie Riggs, Ayza Priebe, Laura Bell, Brooke Riddle-Robinson, Kate Jacobsen and Aspen Bauclman.
Platte Valley
The Broncos are 1-1 to start their season with a win over Greeley Central 3-0 and a loss to Timnath 3-0. Tonight, the team will start tournament play and will take on Alamosa and Peak to Peak to start and then will play tomorrow depending on the outcome of the games. Next week, Platte Valley will travel to Windsor Charter Academy on 9/1 and then host Wellington on 9/3. Leading the teams stat board are Bryla Bunting with 3 blocks, 1 assists. 20 kills and 18 receptions, Kennedi Nelson with 2 total blocks and 13 kills, Clara Ochsner with 1 block, 4 aces, 17 digs, and 60 assists, Madi Hunt with 5 aces, 15 digs, and 19 receptions, Paisley Nelson with 3 aces, Delaney Uyemura with 29 digs, 3 assists, and 38 receptions, and Talea Huerta with 12 kills.
