Class 3A Volleyball Weekly Review and Preview

Another week of action has occurred in the 3A volleyball season and teams are making some movement and staking their claim already. This week we look at our top 16 teams, that came out on Monday and see how they are doing after the first couple of weeks of play.

University

University is currently 4-0 on the season after getting wins over Forge Christian 3-0, Windsor 3-1 and Elizabeth 3-0. The Bulldogs will be playing to keep adding wins to their record and will be on the road next week to face Thompson Valley on 9/10. Stat leaders for University so far this season are Grace Elbe with 10 total blocks, Kaydence Lucero with 10 blocks and 22 kills, Kenley Rudiger with 9 blocks, 5 aces, 27 digs and 139 assists, Delaney Lauer with 10 aces, 38 digs, 74 kills and 33 receptions, Emma Francis with 5 aces and 20 kills, Livianna Aguilar with 51 digs, 7 aces 15 assists, and 53 receptions, Holly Jennings 16 assists, Carigen Lucero 40 kills, and Shylee Dyess with 33 receptions.

Resurrection Christian

Resurrection Christian is currently 4-0 after getting wins over Windsor 3-2 and Thompson Valley 3-0.  The Cougars will be looking to add more wins to their record next week as they hit the road and face Platte Valley on 9/8 and Peak to Peak on 9/10. Leading the Cougars stat board so far this season are Tatum Highstreet with 16 blocks, Brooklyn Diepersloot with 14 blocks and 31 kills, Corinne Soukup with 13 total blocks and 8 aces, Paige Michaelson with 12 aces, 28 digs, 50 kills and 29 receptions, Kylee Mayes with 8 aces, 46 digs, and 133 assists, Jada Nordhagen with 53 digs, 8 assists, and 84 receptions, Bradee Seely with 6 assists and 30 receptions, and Sadie Whyard with 36 kills.

The Classical Academy

TCA currently has a 6-1 overall record. In the last week of play, the Titans were able to get wins over The Academy 3-0, Mead 3-2, Poudre 3-0, and Niwot 3-1. The teams first loss of the season came against Lewis-Palmer 2-3. TCA will be looking to add another win to their record as they kick off next week with a road game against Forge Christian. Stat leaders for the Titians are CJ Connelly with 10 blocks, Aubrie Renn with 9 blocks, 18 aces, and 32 kills, Ashlyn Delaney with 8 blocks, 8 aces, 45 digs, 68 kills and 79 receptions, Caylee Somersalmi with 12 aces, 42 digs, 37 kills and 78 receptions, Addy Macha with 48 digs, 4 assists, and 47 receptions, Claire Gilbert with 72 assists. And Sydney Corr with 66 assists.

Eaton

The Reds are 3-2 so far this season, with a win over Windsor 3-1, a loss to Poudre 2-3, a win over Longmont 3-0, a loss to Mead 1-3 and a win over Mountain View. Eaton will be looking to build a winning streak and build some momentum over the next few games. The teams next game will be against Thompson Valley on 9/8 and the Brush on 9/10. Stat leaders for Eaton are Ashby Breinig with 7 blocks, Elianna Baessler with 5 blocks, Maylea Maske with 3 blocks and 52 kills, Mia Martinez with 13 aces and 56 receptions, Anika Pearson with 8 aces, 50 digs, 33 kills, and 75 receptions, Katie St. jean with 8 aces, 84 digs, 29 assists and 100 receptions, Skyelyn Lefever with 36 digs. 1-5 assists, and 30 kills, and Aspen Lane with 31 assists.

Berthoud

Berthoud lost last week to Mountain View 2-3 and Niwot 0-3 but was able to get wins over Peak to Peak 3-0 and Longmont 3-1. This week the team got the win over Timnath 3-2 to put themselves at 6-2 overall so far this season. The Spartans will be looking to add to their three-game winning streak next week as they travel to Severance on 9/10. Leading the stat board for the team are Addison Jones with 19 blocks and 65 kills, Emma Hill with 8 blocks, Lucy Kirklin with 8 blocks, Libby Wilson with 18 aces. 48 digs, and 243 assists, Avery Tychsen with 13 aces, 37 digs, 12 assists, and 71 kills, Whitney Barmes with 13 aces, Sasha Cater with 84 digs, 11 assists, 49 kills and 101 receptions, Amelia Major with 67 receptions and Caroline Mahoney with 63 receptions.

Sterling

Sterling is currently 2-1 on the season after beating Yuma 3-0 and Sidney 3-0, but falling to Gering 2-3. The Tigers will be trying to add more wins to their overall record next week as they go on the road, first to Fort Lupton on 9/8 and then to Scottsbluff on 9/10. Leading the team so far this season are Karsyn Tonche with 5 blocks, 5 aces, 33 digs, 5 assists, 63 kills and 63 receptions, Bailey Jackson with 4 blocks and 15 kills, Rylie Kaiser with 3 blocks, Elliana Pelton with 5 aces and 31 digs, Berkley Gardiner with 4 aces and 117 assists, Kenzi Rubottom with 47 digs, 42 kills and 38 receptions, Gabriella Manly with 4 assists, and Bailey Ferguson with 53 receptions.

The Village

The mountaineers are 1-1 so far this season with a win over Pueblo County and a loss to The Classical Academy 0-3. Tonight, the team will play Palisade and Rocky Mountain and will try to add more wins to their record. Next week, the team will host Air Academy on 9/8. Leading The Village on the stat board are Alyssa Simmons with 4 blocks and 4 aces, Sofie Styre with 4 blocks, Ella Dorelus-Weems with 4 blocks and 8 kills, Emerson Lavine with 4 aces, 18 digs, 6 assists, and 46 receptions, Norah Hollis with 3 aces, 16 digs, 35 kills and 37 receptions, Mary Estares with 17 digs, 2 assists, 29 kills and 26 receptions, and Cecilia Pederson with 73 assists.

Holy Family

Holy Family currently has a perfect record at 5-0. The teams most recent wins were both 3-1 against Forge Christian and Broomfield. The Tigers will be trying to maintain their record next week as they go on the road to face Longmont on 9/10.  Leading Holy Family on the stat board are Jes Hoffman with 6 blocks, Mary Siurek with 6 blocks, Jordyn Fox with 6 blocks, 8 aces. 53 digs, 77 kills and 48 receptions, Taylor Hillegass with 19 aces, 35 digs, and 155 assists, Kate Fisher with 8 aces and 8 assists, Caroline Staff with 62 digs, 10 assists, and 63 receptions, Allie Gill with 33 kills, Charlotte Fisher with 36 kills and Gabby Sellers with 40 receptions.

Windsor Charter Academy

The Firebirds are 7-1 so far this season with their recent games resulting in a win over DCA and a loss to Platte Valley 2-3. Windsor Charter will be looking to bounce back from their first loss of the season and add another win to their record as they go on the road and play Propsect Ridge Academy on 9/8 and then host Stargate School on 9/10. Stat leaders for the Firebirds are Vivian Dizmang with 3 blocks and 12 aces, Penny Perry with 3 blocks and 19 kills, Sophia Sims with 2 blocks, 41 kills and 16 receptions, Aubri Penfold with 13 aces, 36 digs, and 78 assists, Maddie Morse with 11 aces, 47 digs, 45 kills, and 17 receptions, Adalyn Schwartz with 39 digs, 6 assists, and 25 receptions, and Katie Wards with 2 assists.

Aspen

The Skiers got their first win of the season in their game against Gunnison 3-0, starting the team off 1-0 for the 2026 season, 1-0 in league play and in 1st in the Western Slope League. The team then beat Glenwood Springs 3-0 to make their overall record 2-0. Tonight the team will be looking to add another win to their record as they take on Delta on the road. Next week, the team will travel to North Fork on 9/10 to play the Rams in the third league game of the year.

Alamosa

Alamosa is currently 3-2 on the season after beating Platte Valley 3-1, Peak to Peak 3-0, and Poudre 3-2, but falling to Niwot 1-3. The Mean Moose will be looking to get a big win added to their record next week as they go on the road to play league opponent and local rival the Centuari Falcons on 9/8. Stat leaders for Alamosa are Brooklyn Schrader with 8 blocks and 33 kills, Brynley Brown with 6 blocks and 45 kills, Kamryn Moeller with 5 blocks and 15 aces, Addison Rice with 15 aces, 87 digs, 11 assists, and 101 receptions, Ashlyn Rice with 11 aces and 144 assists, Egypt Holman with 71 digs, 9 assists, and 71 receptions, and Leela Gutierrez with 59 digs, 43 kills and 107 receptions.

Forge Christian

The Fury are 1-4 so far this season after falling to Resurrection Christion 0-3, University 0-3, and Holy Family 1-3. The team is currently on a four-game losing streak after they lost last night to Timnath 3-. Forge Christian will be looking to find some winning momentum in their and will play tough opponents coming up in TCA on 9/8 and then Platte Valley on 9/10. Leading the Fury on the stat board so far this season are Maddie Saba with 3 blocks, 3 aces and 18 kills, Genevieve Leonardi with 2 blocks, 20 kills and 28 receptions, Josie Arp with 1 block, Colbee White with 60 assists, Bella Tiner with 5 aces, 29 digs, 5 assists, and 92 receptions, Finley Queen with 3 aces and 19 digs, Addison Davis with 32 digs, 31 kills, and 51 receptions, and Grayson Taylor with 4 assists.

Stargate

Stargate School is currently 2-1 overall on the season after falling to Holy Family 1-3, but then getting wins over DSST: College View 3-0 and Strasburg 3-0. The Eagles will be looking to keep their winning streak going and will travel next week to KIPP Denver Collegiate on 9/8 and to Windsor Charter Academy on 9/10. Stat leaders for the Eagles are Scotlyn Mackintosh with 4 blocks and 18 kills, Reese White with 3 blocks, 13 aces, 19 digs, and 70 assists, Kathleen Schoonveld with 1 block, Addie Pollard with 11 aces, 1 assist, and 23 kills, Autumn Kasten with 10 aces, 15 digs, and 31 receptions, Maci Lamar with 24 digs, 9 assists and 51 receptions, and Ellie Romary with 21 kills.

Platte Valley

Platte Valley is now on a 5 game winning streak after losing to Alamosa 1-3, beating Peak to Peak 3-1, Mountain View 3-0, Mean 3-0,  Windsor Charter Academy 3-2, and Wellington last night 3-0. The Broncos are now 6-2 on the season and will be looking to keep adding wins to their record next week as they host Resurrection Christian on 9/8 and Forge Chrisitan on 9/10. Leading the Broncos on the stat board are Bryla Bunting with 24 blocks, 13 aces, and 64 receptions, Kennedi Nelson with 11 blocks and 60 kills, Talea Huerta with 8 blocks, 17 aces, 2 assists and 64 kills, Madi Hunt with 27 aces, 51 digs, and 71 receptions, Delaney Uyemura with 124 digs, 9 assists, and 182 receptions, Clara Ochsner with 77 digs and 259 assists, and Paisley Nelson with 57 kills.

Salida

The Spartans are 5-1 overall and 0-1 on league play, placing them 3rd in the Tri-Peaks league. Salida was able to beat Center 3-0, Buena Vista 3-0, Crested Butte 2-0, Nucla 2-0, and Dove Creek 2-0, but fell in their most recent game against St. Mary’s 2-3. The team will be looking to bounce back from their first loss of the season and add another win to their record next week as they take on Dolores on 9/10. Stat leaders for Salida are Myah Scott with 6 blocks, Kali Keast with 6 blocks and 27 kills, Channing Craft with 3 blocks, 2 assists, and 29 kills, Hazel Brown with 12 aces, 47 digs, and 43 receptions, Lily Horsley with 8 aces, Maci Pridemore with 6 aces and 119 assists, Lili Moutray with 35 digs, 5 assists and 31 receptions, and Zailee Saari with 34 digs and 35 receptions.

Kent Denver

The Sun Devils are 4-0 so far this season with wins over CSCHS 3-0, Arrupe Jesuit 3-0, Bruce Randolph 3-0 and most recently Strasburg 3-1. Kent Denver will be looking to keep their perfect record alive as they resume play next week. The next game for the team will be on 9/10 at home against DSST: Conservatory Green. Stat leaders for the Sun Devils are Anya Schayes with 7 blocks, 6 aces, and 17 kills, Isla Penny with 3 blocks, Ava Ryan with 3 blocks, Regan Tierney with 7 aces and 42 assists, Agnes Beck with 6 aces11 digs, 15 kills and 30 receptions, Bira Parizi-Newman with 15 digs, 3 assists and 23 receptions, Mosley Manning with 14 digs, 23 kills and 22 receptions, and Olivia Carney with 27 assists.
