MileHigh Prep Report Boys Basketball Week 5 Rankings

Feels like it has been forever since my last rankings.  Some shake up of course in all classes especially in 2A and 1A.  I am excited to kick off 2019!

Class 3A                                                                           Last Week

1.     Sterling (7-0) 1 (4 weeks)
2.     Vanguard (6-2) 2
3.     Manual (5-2) 3
4.     Kent Denver (7-0) 4
5.     Coal Ridge (9-0) 5
6.     Colorado Academy (7-2) 6
7.     Lutheran (6-2) 8
8.    Resurrection Christian (6-3) 9
9.     Montezuma-Cortez (8-0) 10
10.   Lamar (7-2) NR
·         Others: Colorado Springs Christian, Faith Christian, Platte Valley, Alamosa, Delta, Centauri, Jefferson Academy, Pagosa Springs, Roaring Fork, St. Mary’s

Dropped out: Colorado Springs Christian (7)

Notes: Opening weekend after break complete.  Some slight movement in the final 4 spots.  Lamar upset Colorado Springs Christian and move into the top 10 replacing C.S Christian.  A few surprising results as well and will get into more depth in the Weekly Top 10 breakdown.

Class 2A                                                                     Last Week

1.     Yuma (7-0) 1 (5 weeks)
2.     Holly (9-0) 3
3.     Highland (7-1) 2
4.     Byers (5-2) 8
5.    Fowler (5-3) 4
6.     Simla (4-2) 6
7.     Denver Christian (4-3) NR
8.     Limon (6-2) 4
9.   Sanford (4-4) 9
10.  Rocky Ford (4-4) NR
·         Others: Sargent, Heritage Christian, Meeker, Wray, Peyton, Paonia, Sedgwick County, Dolores Huerta Prep, Soroco, Mancos

Dropped out: Peyton (10), Heritage Christian (7)

Notes: After a very interesting weekend of 2A basketball a ranking shake up was needed.  Yuma, Holly, and Highland are #1 thru #3 and seem to be the most consistent 3 teams in 2A currently.  After that things seem more fluid.  Byers moves up to #4 and Fowler drops just 1 spot after losing to Holly.  Simla holds down the #6 spots.  A new team to the rankings is Denver Christian after a big upset of Limon.  Limon falls behind them at #8.  Sanford went 1-1 this weekend beating Ellicott but losing to Pagosa Springs by 2.  My #10 spot was difficult, and I am going with Rocky Ford.  Rocky Ford upset #1 Sangre De Cristo and Heritage Christian lost to unranked 1A Longmont Christian.

Class 1A                                                                          Last Week

1.     Cornerstone Christian (8-0) 2
2.     De Beque (8-0) 3
3.      Sangre De Cristo (5-1) 1
4.     Springfield (5-2) 4
5.     Haxtun (6-2) 6
6.     Peetz (6-2) 9
7.     Cheraw (8-1) 8
8.     Briggsdale (7-2) 5
9.      Walsh (4-2) 9
10.     Kit Carson (5-3) NR
·         Others: Arickaree/Woodlin, Front Range Baptist, Otis, Merino, Ouray, Kim/Branson, Pikes Peak Christian, Cotopaxi, Longmont Christian, Genoa-Hugo

Dropped out: Arickaree/Woodlin (5)

Notes: 1A continues to move around.  Sangre De Cristo lost to Rocky Ford and drops to #3.  The new #1 is Cornerstone Christian followed by De Beque.  Haxtun moves up 1 spot to #5 and Peetz puts up to #6 after a good weekend of basketball.  Cheraw also moves up a spot and Briggsdale falls to #8 after falling to Peetz.  Kit Carson is the new team to the rankings after upsetting Arickaree/Woodlin.
