#7 Sterling HS

Made the State Tournament, Went 0-2

Sterling had a bit of a rough year last year going 16-11 but played well enough to get into the State Tournament.  A very young Sterling team will be much tougher this year.  Sterling returns 4 of their top 6 hitters.  Henry, Johnson, and Allen all broke 160 kills and have another year of experience.  Sterling also returns dig leader Jade Feather and setter Allie Schumacher.
#8 St. Mary’s

Made Regionals but lost in regional finals.

St. Mary’s is the first team to be ranked that did not qualify for the state tournament.  St. Mary’s lost in the regional finals last year but return a ton of talent.  St. Mary’s returns top two hitters Seneca Hackley and Jillian Kellick both broke 170 kills.  St. Mary’s also returns 5 of their top 6 hitters.  St. Mary’s also returns setter Alexa LaMack but need a new Libero.
#9 Platte Valley

Platte Valley had a good run last year making it to the Final 4 before losing to C.S Christian.  Platte Valley is losing some talent form last year’s team but are hoping to make another deep run.  Platte Valley returns their top hitter Claire Smith but only return 2 of their top 6 hitters.  Some younger players will have to step up.  Platte Valley does return their dig leader Kassi Shoemaker but a new setter must also be found.
#10 Cedaredge

Made Regionals but lost in regional finals.

Cedaredge just missed the state tournament losing to Resurrection Christian in the Regional Finals.  Cedaredge is hoping to make the state tournament this year and bring back talent to do so.  Cedaredge will loss their top hitter from a year ago but return the rest of the team.  Henderson and Kehmeier both return with over 140 kills.  Setter Baylee Harris also returns but a new Libero will need to be found for Cedaredge
#11 University

University was one match away from the final 4 but came up just short.  University will have some holes to fill with a good senior class graduating.  University is losing their top two from last year taking 623 kills with them.  University is returning 3 of their top 6 hitters with Logan Colin and Kylie Williams over 100 kills.  A new setter and Libero will be needed for University as well.
#12 La Junta

Made Regions but lost in regional Finals

La Junta took step in the right direction last year going 16-9.  La Junta got to regionals last year but fell in the Regional Finals.  La Junta losses just 2 seniors and return the majority of the talent they need to have a deep run.  La Junta return their top 6 hitters with Bianca Good and Hayden Mayo leading the way.  La Junta also returns setter Haley Eckhart but will need to find a new Libero this year.
#13 Montezuma-Cortez

Made Regionals but lost in regional finals.

Montezuma-Cortez was a bit of a surprise last year going 16-6 but just missed out on the State tournament losing in the Regional Finals.  Montezuma-Cortez does return plenty of talent and are hoping to make the state tournament.  Montezuma-Cortez returns top hitter Avery Wright plus 4 of their 6 top hitters.  Another hitter must step up for Cortez this year.  Libero Amber Wood returns and setter Leigha Comisky returns for Cortez.

Resurrection Christian had a tough year last year but were able to get into the state tournament and went 2-2.  Resurrection Christian will have to replace some key pieces lost from last year.  Resurrection Christian returns 2 of their top 6 hitters with Jeorgia Jones they lone hitter returning with over 100 kills.  Resurrection Christian also must find a new Libero and new setter as well.
#15 Machebeuf

Made the State Tournament, went 0-2

Machebeuf may be a team I ranked a bit low.  They have plenty of talent returning from a state tournament team.  Machebeuf losses their top hitter from last year but return 4 of their top 6 hitters.  Casados, Burciaga, and Luebbers all return with over 150 kills.  The other big thing for Machebeuf will be finding a new setter and this will be huge for this team.
#16 Englewood

Made Regionals but lost in first round

Englewood was a good surprise last year going 19-6 and making it to regionals.  This year this team is hoping for a state tournament berth.  Englewood returns leading hitter Deveyn Hainey and 4 of their top 6 hitters.  Englewood also returns dig leader Jayda Brown but could use a new setter this year.
Other Teams to Watch Pagosa Springs, Centauri, Eagle Ridge Academy, Bennett, DSST-College View, Manitou Springs, Colorado Academy, Liberty Common, DSST-Stapleton, Delta, Florence, Buena Vista, SkyView Academy
