Girls Basketball Class 2A Regional and State Projections/Predictions

For the Projections I am using the RPI to seed the field, but I am picking the District winners using my District Predictions. There is plenty that could still change especially with the RPI. I am also picking the 8 teams I think will qualify for State Using this Regional Layout.

Class 2A

A regional tournament will be played in Class 2A.

The 8 District shall qualify a specified number of teams to the regional tournament as follows: 4 Teams-District 1, 2, 4, 6, 7, 8. 5 Teams-District 5, 3 Teams-District 3.
The District Champions shall be seeded 1-8 based on RPI and shall host the regional tournaments.
The remainder of the teams shall be seeded 9-32 by RPI avoiding first round district matchups.
RPI Seeds 25-32 may be moved to accommodate geography if it benefits the entire bracket.
The 8 regional winners shall advance to the state tournament.
After the Final 8 teams have been determined, the teams will be re-seeded based on the following: The 8 regional winners advance to the state tournament where they will be seeded by a committee, made up of administrative representatives. The committee may use the following criteria to seed the final pairings: Final RPI rankings, previous district matchups, head to head competition, and common opponents.

District Qualifiers

District 1: Del Norte (7), Sanford (11), Center (32), Sargent (30)

The semifinals feature Del Norte vs Center and Sanford vs Sargent. It looks like we may be on a collision course for part 3 of Del Norte vs Sanford. I am picking Del Norte and Sanford to advance to the District Championship. I am picking Del Norte over Sanford in the District Championship and Center over Sargent in the third-place game. All 4 teams have qualified for Regionals.

District 2: Holyoke (1), Yuma (25), Wray (14), Sedgwick County (16)

The semifinals feature Holyoke vs Wray and Yuma vs Sedgwick County. I think the semifinals should be very competitive and fun to watch. I am picking Holyoke and Yuma to win and advance to the District Championship. I am picking Holyoke over Yuma in the District Championship and Wray over Sedgwick County in the third-place game. All 4 teams have qualified for Regionals.

District 3: Ignacio (13), Dolores (51), Mancos (54)

The semifinals feature Ignacio vs Mancos and Telluride vs Dolores. Remember only 3 teams get in for District 3. I am picking Ignacio and Dolores to meet in the District Championship. I am picking Ignacio over Dolores in the District Championship and I am picking Mancos over Telluride in the third-place game to qualify for Regionals.

District 4: Limon (2), Denver Christian (17), Byers (29), Lotus School (23)

The Championship is set between Limon and Denver Christian. Winner hosts a Region and loser will hit the road. In the third-place game we will see Lotus School face Byers. I think both games should be interesting games. I am picking Limon over Denver Christian in the District Championship and I am going Byers over Lotus School in the third-place game.

District 5: Meeker (3), Soroco (18), Hotchkiss (15), Hayden (20), Paonia (31)

4 of the 5 teams that make it to Regionals in District 5 have locked up their berths. The consolation finals between West Grand and Paonia will determine the final team. I am picking Paonia over West Grand to snag the final playoff berth. In the Semifinals we feature Meeker vs Hayden and Hotchkiss vs Soroco. I am picking Meeker and Soroco to win and advance to the District Championship. I am picking Meeker over Soroco in the District finals and Hotchkiss over Hayden in the third-place game.

District 6: Rye (6), Rocky Ford (5), Swink (21), Holly (24)

The District 6 Championship is set between Rye and Rocky Ford. Both teams were challenged in the Semifinals and now face each other for a second time. The third-place game features Holly vs Swink and should also be a solid game. I am picking Rye over Rocky Ford to win the District Championship and Swink over Holly in the third-place game.

District 7: Heritage Christian (4), Dawson School (12), Gilpin County (28), Loveland Classical (36)

The semifinals feature Heritage Christian vs Loveland Classical and Dawson School vs Gilpin County. I am picking Heritage Christian and Dawson School to advance to the District Championship. I am picking Heritage Christian over Dawson School to win the District 7 championship and I am going Gilpin County over Loveland Classical in the third-place game.

District 8: Simla (10), Colorado Springs School (8), Peyton (9), Calhan (19)

The semifinals feature Simla vs Calhan and Colorado Springs School vs Peyton. I think CSS vs Peyton will be a great game and will be interested to see the final score. I am picking Simla and Colorado Springs School to advance to the District 8 Championship. I am picking Simla over Colorado Springs School to win the District 8 championship and Peyton over Calhan in the third-place game.
