Class 2A Regional Volleyball Predictions
Here are my Predictions on who is going to win the 12 regionals taking place this weekend. I will give a quick breakdown of why I am picking each team to win.
Region 1
Winner: Sedgwick County
Sedgwick County will be the heavy favorite to win this regional. Sedgwick County will be tested by Crowley County, but I feel will get to the State Tournament.
Region 2
Winner: Meeker
Meeker has ben dominate all year and have just 1 lose on their record. Sanford and Mancos will be tough challengers in this region, but Meeker I believe is the heavy favorite to win this region.
Region 3
Winner: Fowler
Fowler has just 2 loses this season to 3A teams who are also hosting regions. Fowler dominated against 2A opponents dropping just 2 sets all year to 2A teams. Fowler will be tested by perennial power Yuma, but I expect Fowler to advance.
Region 4
Winner: Dayspring Christian
Dayspring Christian I think got a favorable draw in region 4. Dayspring Christian will face Rocky Ford and Akron both have had their moments this season pulling big wins, but Dayspring Christian avoids a perennial power in the regional round. I am going with Dayspring Christian in this region.
Region 5
Winner: Soroco
Soroco has 3 loses this season all to regional teams. Soroco will be tested by Dolores who recently picked up a huge upset of 1A Dove Creek. Soroco will be the favorite to advance but I expect a great game between Soroco and Dolores.
Region 6
Winner: Holyoke
Holyoke will be the favorite to win Region 6. Holyoke did not get an easy draw. Holyoke will face Heritage Christian and Addenbrooke Classical. Not a lot is known about Addenbrooke Classical they finished second in the Confluence league which is mostly full of 3A teams. Holyoke should be tested in both games, but I believe will advance.
Region 7
Winner: Wiggins
Wiggins struggled at times this season ending the regular season with a record of 14-9. Wiggins did play a very tough schedule. Wiggins I believe got a great draw in region 7. Wiggins will face Las Animas and Vail Christian neither are perennial powers. I do believe both Las Animas and Vail Christian will challenge Wiggins but I believe Wiggins will advance.
Region 8
Winner: Rye
Region 8 could be one of the more exciting regionals. Rye will be the favorite, but I believe both Olathe and Calhan will challenge Rye. Calhan I think provide the biggest challenge to Rye but I do believe Rye advances from Region 8.
Region 9
Winner: Denver Christian
Denver Christian a few weeks ago looked to be a top 4 seed going into regionals but losing 3 of your final 6 games will hurt your seeding. Denver Christian does not have a bad loss on its resume. Denver Christian, I think will be challenge by Byers but I expect Denver Christian to advance to state.
Region 10
Winner: Hoehne
Hoehne finished the season winning 3 straight games after losing 3 straight games inside league play. Hoehne may have had some injuries or COVID issues because Hoehne closed the year beating tough teams in Sargent and Ignacio. Hoehne did not have any favors done for it with a very tough regional pairing. Hoehne will be tested by both Sargent and Lyons and should make for an interesting Region.
Region 11
Winner: Limon
Limon was not done any favors in this region. West Grand and Monte Vista are solid opponents and both sport winning records. Monte Vista is a solid challenger picking up a big win over Pagosa Springs a few weeks ago. West Grand could be the winner of this region as they do sport a huge upset of Soroco. I do think Limon has the experience to win this region which is why I am going with them.
Region 12
Winner: Union Colony Prep
I am going with the upset in this region picking Union Colony Prep. Union Colony Prep has played a tough schedule and all 7 loses are to quality opponents most are top 10 teams in their respective classes. Union Colony Prep though will be tested by both Plateau Valley and of course the host of the region Ignacio.
