Class 1A State Championship Predictions and Breakdown
We have reached the end of the road. This season has really flown by. The Class 1A bracket went about how I thought it would and made for some great games along the way. This is the matchup most people expect and it’s here. The State Championship features the #1 vs #2 teams. Good Luck to both teams on Saturday!
#2 Centauri over #1 Limon
Centauri reached the State Championship with a 42 to 6 win over #3 Buena Vista. Centauri started a bit slow scoring just 7 points in the 1st quarter. Centauri got things going a bit more scoring 14 points in the 2nd quarter before opening things up with 21 points in the 3rd quarter to build the 42 to 0 lead heading into the 4th quarter. Centauri defensively played outstanding forcing Buena Vista into a more pass heavy offense. Centauri forced 3 turnovers in the game and 12 tackles for loss. Mason Claunch and Zach Buhr led all tackler with over 14 tackles in the game. Offensively Centauri racked up 394 yards of offense. QB Byron Shawcroft continued to run the offense well passing for 177 yards. RB Mason Claunch also had a big game with 161 yards rushing. Centauri will now look to get over the final hurdle something that has evaded them.
Limon reached the State Championship with a 42 to 8 win over #5 Wray. Limon started a bit slow scoring just 6 points in the 1st quarter before adding 14 in the 2nd quarter. Limon would once again be slowed down in the 3rd quarter but added 14 points in the 4th quarter to get the 42 to 8 win. Defensively Limon did a good job slowing down the rushing attack of Wray holding them to just 76 yards and forcing Wray to pass. Limon forced 2 turnovers in the game and 2 sacks. Limon had 3 players with 9 tackles, Ky Bandy, Kailer Schmidt, and Brady Rockwell. Offensively Limon racked up 409 yards of total offense. QB Trey Hines had a big day passing for 131 yards. RB’s Jeremiah Leeper and Gabe Schubarth both had big days rushing for 125 yards each. Limon will look to continue their dynasty and win another State Title.
This is a battle of size vs speed. Limon features a much bigger offensive line than Centauri and look to dominate the line of scrimmage. Centauri also has some size on the offensive line but look to their speed to be the difference. Defensively both teams have outstanding defenses. Both teams have very physical linebackers and look to shut down each other offenses. I don’t believe this will be a very high scoring game but both teams can put points up in bunches so wouldn’t surprise me if the final score was 35 to 28. Offensively Centauri has multiple weapons from RB Mason Claunch, QB Byron Shawcroft, WR Deven Brady, and WR Baron Holman. Offensively Limon also has weapons with RB’s Jeremiah Leeper and Gabe Schubarth, QB Trey Hines, and WR Brady Rockwell. This come down to who controls the line of scrimmage and makes critical plays on 3rd downs. I am going with Centauri over Limon. This is going to be a great game and turnover could be the difference. I think if Centauri can slowdown the run they can force a few turnovers in the passing game and that could be the difference. This will be a great game and I cannot wait to watch this game on Saturday. Good Luck to both teams and I am ready for a great State Championship game!
Entire Bracket Prediction
