MileHigh Prep Report Boys Basketball Week 7 Rankings (Class 3A thru Class 1A)

We move into the 6th week of the regular season.  We have a new #1 team in Class 3A.  Also have new teams in every class this week.  Once again Class 1A has the biggest changes and I expect that to be the case going forward.

Class 3A

 Last Week Ranking
1. Sterling (9-1)2
2. Aspen (8-0)4
3. Centauri (9-0)6
4. St. Mary’s (9-1)1
5. Colorado Academy (9-1)3
6. Manual (5-3)5
7. Kent Denver (8-1)8
8. Lutheran (4-5)7
9. Eagle Ridge Academy (7-1)9
10. Resurrection Christian (5-3)NR
·Others: Eaton, Highland, University, Pinnacle, Alamosa, Middle Park, Platte Valley, Denver West, Englewood, Faith Christian Dropped out: Eaton (10)
Notes: A new #1 team this week as Sterling takes over the top spot after St. Mary’s fell on the road to Centauri.  Aspen slides into the #2 spot and Centauri moves into the #3 spot followed by St. Mary’s.  Eaton drops out of the rankings falling to Resurrection Christian who moves into the top 10 following the win.  Still plenty to sort out in Class 3A.

Class 2A

 Last Week Ranking
1. Yuma (9-1)1 (5 weeks)
2. Wray (7-3)2
3. Denver Christian (6-2)3
4. Limon (6-3)4
5. Mancos (7-2)5
6. Lotus School (6-2)6
7. Sanford (6-3)7
8. Peyton (6-4)8
9. Fowler (6-3)NR
10. Holyoke (6-4)10
·Others: Vail Mountain, Thomas MacLaren, Crowley County, Del Norte, Ignacio, Vail Christian, Holly, Rye, Dropped out: None
Notes: Not a ton of movement this week but we do add a new team to the rankings.  Fowler joins the rankings this week after 3 very good wins to start 2022.  Vail Mountain falls out of the rankings losing in 2OT to 1A Caprock Academy who lost to Vail Christian.  Lots of question marks for a lot of teams and covid has already created havoc and I am guess lots of make-up games will be happening.

Class 1A

 Last Week Ranking
1. Granada (8-0)1 (7 weeks)
2. Briggsdale (8-0)2
3. Evangelical Christian (7-0)3
4. Sierra Grande (8-0)4
5. Haxtun (6-3)6
6. Denver Jewish Day (6-1)NR
7. Caprock Academy (7-1)10
8. Belleview Christian (7-3)8
9. Simla (4-3)9
10. Merino (6-3)NR
·Others: Denver Waldorf, Prairie, Genoa-Hugo, Hanover, Springfield, Wiley, Cheyenne Wells, Front Range Baptist, La Veta, Dove Creek Dropped Out: Prairie (5), Genoa-Hugo (7)
Notes: Another big week of games behind us and again the rankings change in Class 1A.  The top 4 stay the same but after that things change.  Prairie lost back-to-back games to Denver Jewish Day and Front Range Baptist.  Genoa-Hugo lost to Merino.  Haxtun did pick up a nice win over Sedgwick County and move up to #5.  Denver Jewish Day joins the rankings at #6 and Caprock Academy moves up to #7 after trading games with solid 2A teams.  Merino joins the rankings again and I keep Simla in the top 10 with a 20-point win over Pikes Peak Christian.  1A is still very much in the air and I expect plenty of changes still to come.
