Class 1A Football League Predictions and Playoff Outlook Week 10
Final week of the regular season and plenty of league title still up for grabs. In terms of playoff teams we still have plenty of teams battling for the last few spots and this week should have plenty of great games. Good Luck to all teams fighting to get into the playoffs. I will post separately my Playoff Projections and Predictions.
2. Buena Vista
4. North Fork
6. Roaring Fork
Gunnison is your League One Champion. Gunnison did see their playoff seeding take a hit when they lost to North Fork 21-13. Gunnison fell from #8 to #10 and probably won’t host a first-round game. Gunnison would need a lot of help to get a first-round game especially since they don’t have a game this week. Gunnison will be well rested for their first-round game. Buena Vista finishes in second place in League One. They sit at #4 in the seeding index and are in good position to host a first-round game. Buena Vista will close the season against Cedaredge and as long as they beat Cedaredge, they should host a first-round game. Meeker is a lock for the playoffs as well and they sit at #9 in the seeding index. Meeker closes the season against Olathe. Meeker will have a shot to host a game but due to seeding procedures if Meeker moves to #8 and Gunnison sits at #9, they will swap places due to head-to-head matchups. The final team to mention is North Fork. North Fork shocked everyone when they upset Gunnison 21-13 last week. North Fork will close the season against Roaring Fork, and I believe if North Fork wins, they will get into the playoffs. If North Fork gets upset by Roaring Fork, they could be in trouble and fall out of the playoffs.
CHSAA Seeding Index: #4 Buena Vista, #9 Meeker, #10 Gunnison, #13 North Fork, #21 Cedaredge, #28 Roaring Fork, #36 Olathe
League Champion: Gunnison
Playoff Locks: Buena Vista, Meeker
Playoff Contenders: North Fork
Eliminated from Playoff Contention: Cedaredge, Roaring Fork, Olathe
2. Monte Vista
4. Del Norte
League Two will once again come down to Monte Vista vs Centauri. Monte Vista will host Centauri on Friday Night at 6pm. This is a huge game for seeding and of course that league title. Centauri sits at #8 in the Seeding Index and Monte Vista sits at #7 in the Seeding Index. This will be a physical game and controlling the line of scrimmage will be key. I won’t give my prediction of this game till Friday. Centauri with a win will host a first-round game. If Centauri loses to Monte Vista, they could still host but could get jumped by Meeker for the #8 spot. Monte Vista with a win could jump up to #5 or #6 but for sure will host a first-round game. If Monte Vista loses there is still a shot, they host a game. Ignacio is the final team to mention. Ignacio sits at #17 in the Seeding index, and they face Del Norte in their final game. Ignacio has a shot to make it into the playoffs but may need a few things to go their way. Ignacio first must beat Del Norte and then I think needs Holyoke to beat Burlington. They may need a bit more help but those are the two main things I think they need.
CHSAA Seeding Index: #7 Monte Vista, #8 Centauri, #17 Ignacio, #23 Center, #27 Del Norte, #33 Trinidad
Playoff Locks: Monte Vista, Centauri
Playoff Contenders: Ignacio
Eliminated from Playoff Contention: Center, Del Norte, Trinidad
2. C.S Christian
3. Banning Lewis
5. Rocky Ford
Rye is your League Three Champion. Rye locked up the league title defeating Banning Lewis 16-6. Rye sits at #12 in the seeding index, and I do not believe they will host a first-round game. Rye will close the season against Rocky Ford and winning should at least keep them as a top 12 seed. C.S Christian sits at #14 in the seeding index, and they are bit more on the bubble. C.S Christian will close their season against Peyton and is a must win game to get into the playoffs. C.S Christian with a win should get into the playoffs but a loss would see them fall out. C.S Christian is on the bubble so nothing is guaranteed even with a win over Peyton they could still fall a bit. Banning Lewis is the final team to mention. Banning Lewis sits at #18 in the Seeding Index, and they close their season against Ellicott. This game won’t do much to help their numbers and Banning Lewis would need a ton of help to get into the playoffs. I do not think they will get into the playoffs, but I have been wrong before.
CHSAA Seeding Index: #12 Rye, #14 C.S Christian, #18 Banning Lewis, #29 Peyton, #32 Ellicott, #34 Rocky Ford
League Champion: Rye
Playoff Contenders: C.S Christian, Banning Lewis
Eliminated from Playoff Contention: Peyton, Rocky Ford, Ellicott
Limon is your League Four League Champion. Limon locked up the league title when Holyoke upset Yuma. Limon gets the automatic berth, but they still want the #1 overall seed. Limon will host Yuma this Friday and a win should lock up that #1 overall seed. Yuma is still a lock for the playoffs despite their upset loss to Holyoke. Yuma sits at #6 in the seeding index and if they lose to Limon, they could drop to a #7 or #8 seed but that depends on the game behind them and what happens there. Wray say their league title hopes disappear when Holyoke upset Yuma, but Wray is now looking to keep a top 4 seed. Wray will hit the road to face Wiggins this week. This is another big game for seeding purposes and a Wray win keeps them a top 4 seed, but a Wray loss could see Wiggins move into the #4 spot and Wray slide to #5. This should be a great game. Wiggins sits at #5 in the seeding index and are a lock to make the playoffs. Wiggins as mentioned hosts Wray. This will be a very physical game and should be fun to watch. The final game to mention in League Four is Burlington at Holyoke. Holyoke, I believe locked up a spot in the playoffs with their upset win over Yuma but a loss to Burlington could push them much closer to the bubble, so I did not put them as a lock. Holyoke with a win over Burlington probably locks up a top 12 seed. Burlington sits at #15 in the seeding index and a loss to Holyoke could push them out of the playoffs. It will be very close for that final spot with Ignacio and a handful of other teams.
CHSAA Seeding Index: #1 Limon, #3 Wray, #5 Wiggins, #6 Yuma, #11 Holyoke, #15 Burlington
Playoff Locks: Limon, Yuma, Wray, Wiggins
Playoff Contenders: Holyoke, Burlington
Eliminated from Playoff Contention: None
2. Middle Park
3. Platte Canyon
4. Denver Christian
5. Clear Creek
Strasburg is your League Five Champion. Strasburg locked up the league title when Middle Park beat Platte Canyon. Strasburg earns the automatic berth but look to keep a top 3 seed. Strasburg will host Platte Canyon Friday and a win should keep them in the top 3. Strasburg sits at #2 in the Seeding Index. Middle Park keeps their playoff hopes alive by defeating Platte Canyon last week. Middle Park would need some help to get into the playoffs but beating Clear Creek is mission #1. Middle Park sits at #20 in the seeding index.
CHSAA Seeding Index: #2 Strasburg, #20 Middle Park, #24 Denver Christian, #26 Platte Canyon, #30 Jefferson, #36 Clear Creek
Playoff Locks: Strasburg
Playoff Contenders: Middle Park
Eliminated from Playoff Contention: Platte Canyon, Denver Christian, Jefferson, Clear Creek
1. Flatirons Academy
2. Estes Park
League Six comes down to one game. Flatirons Academy will host Estes Park. Flatirons Academy wins the league title outright with a win over Estes Park. If Estes Park wins it forces a three-way tie that will be broken by either Seeding Index or RPI (Let me know which or what breaks the tie). I left Highland as a contender but their only hopes is a league title to get into the playoffs. Flatirons Academy is my pick to win League Six and defeat Estes Park. If that is the scenario, then Flatirons gets the automatic berth and could take the last spot in the playoffs unless they jump to #16. Estes Park would be in danger of being jumped by Ignacio for that final spot. Again a huge game in League Six!
CHSAA Seeding Index: #16 Estes Park, #19 Flatirons Academy, #22 Manual, #25 Highland, #31 Pinnacle, #37 Sheridan
Playoff Contenders: Flatirons Academy, Estes Park, Highland
Eliminated from Playoff Contention: Manual, Pinnacle, Sheridan
