Class 1A Football State Championship Preview & Predictions
How quickly has this season gone. We have reached the state championship and feels like we just started a few weeks ago. This should be a great matchup on Saturday and looking forward to watching. Good Luck to both teams!
#1 Limon vs #6 Wray, Saturday at 1pm at CSU-Pueblo
Limon moved into the Class 1A State Championship by defeating C.S Christian 41 to 0. Limon keeps their perfect season going and improve to 12-0 on the year. Limon now hits the road to Pueblo to play at the campus of CSU-Pueblo which they have become very familiar with. Limon offensively last week had a great game racking up 427 yards of total offense. QB Jordan Rockwell was very efficient going 6 of 9 for 139 yards and 2 passing TDs. WR Dontarius Arnold was the main target with 46 yards receiving and 1 TD. The rushing attack for Limon had a big day racking up 288 yards rushing on 38 carries. RB Lohgan Bottjer had a solid day racking up 112 yards rushing and 2 rushing TDs. RB Gabe Schubarth also continued his streak of 100 yards rushing games racking up 108 yards rushing and 1 rushing TD. Keon Bandy also added in a pair of rushing TDs. Defensively Limon was able to limit the passing attack of C.S Christian hold them to just 66 yards passing and only 41 yards rushing. Three Badgers had 5 tackles to lead Limon. Dontarius Arnold, Lohgan Bottjer, and Ahren Schubarth all had 5 tackles and combined had 4 TFL. Limon also had good pressure on the QB forcing 3 sacks in the game, Gabe Schubarth, Ahren Schubart, and Treyton Marx each had 1 in the game. Limon now turns to a familiar foe in Wray.
Wray moved into the Class 1A State Championship by upsetting Strasburg 28-0. Wray improves to 9-3 on the season and they are looking to finish their revenge tour on Colorado teams. Wray like Limon hits the road to Pueblo to play at CSU-Pueblo. Offensively Wray had a great game plan using their rushing attack to overpower Strasburg. Wray in the game racked up 363 yards of total offense. QB Casey Midcap had a solid day going 7 of 11 for 61 yards and zero turnovers. WR Chris Arambula continues to play well at WR with 6 catches for 54 yards. The rushing attack as mentioned was the main weapon for Wray racking up 302 yards rushing on 52 carries. RB Brady Collins had a huge day with 164 yards rushing and 1 rushing TD. Samuel Meisner (58 yards rushing) and Chris Arambula (60 yards rushing) also had a big impact on the game. Defensively Wray had one of their best defensive efforts holding an explosive offense to 0 points. Turnovers did have a big impact on the game with Wray’s defense forcing 3 turnovers in the game to win the turnover battle. Chris Arambula had 1 INT and Camden Riggleman and Tell Wade each recovered a fumble. Tackle wise Samuel Meisner led all tacklers with 11 tackles. Brady Collins (9 tackles, 1 sack, and 2 TFL) and Ronnie Shay (6 Tackles) also had an impact on the game. Overall Wray defense had one of their best outing and now turn their attention to Limon.
Limon and Wray are league rivals. Limon is 12-2 since 2004 against Wray overall and Limon is 6-2 against Wray in the Playoffs. Limon last state championship was in 2021 and Wray last state championship was in 1993. These two have already played with this with Limon defeating Wray 13 to 8 which was the closest game Limon played all year. This will be a fun match up again!

#1 Limon over #6 Wray
Going all the way back to my preseason rankings. I had Wray #1 and Limon #3 and they will meet in the State Championship. Both teams are peaking at the right time. This is going to be a fantastic game and once again don’t expect many points to be scored. Turnovers and controlling the line of scrimmage will be the difference in this game. Both teams are poised to win this game and I expect a fantastic state championship game.
