Class 4A Girls State Tournament Predictions
Not a ton of big upsets in the girls 4A State Bracket. The biggest upset would be #24 Severance over #9 Alamosa. What I am planning on doing is a round by round pick, From the Sweet 16 on I will be doing a quick breakdown of the games. Then at the end I will have my full tournament Predictions.
Sweet 16 Predictions Only (4A Girls Playoff Prediction Record 14-2)
Ann Strother Abromait Region
#1 Holy Family over #17 Classical Academy
Both teams played tough 5A schedules and are battle tested coming into this game. Holy Family has been a top team all season and look for them to show that in this game. Classical Academy will give their best shot in trying to pick up the big upset.
#8 Delta over #24 Severance (Top game in Sweet 16)
Severance had the biggest upset in the First Round. They now make the long trip to Delta and look for upset #2. Severance played a very tough schedule, so they are battle tested. Delta cruised in the first round but will be tested by a very tough Severance team. Delta played a hard schedule early and since then have been playing well.
Anita Stites-Rowland Region
#5 Colorado Academy over #12 Berthoud (Top game in Sweet 16)
I think this could be another good game. Colorado Academy has played very well this season and will look to keep it going. Colorado Academy has already defeated Berthoud 61 to 51 and they will look to make it twice this season. Berthoud will have revenge on the mind when they visit Colorado Academy.
#4 Lutheran over #13 Resurrection Christian
Lutheran has played one of the toughest schedules in 4A and they will look to get a second win over Resurrection Christian. Resurrection Christian will be looking for revenge and they have the players to push Lutheran in this game.
Charlotte Jorgensen Region
#2 D’Evelyn over #15 Kent Denver
D’Evelyn will be the heavy favorite in this game. Kent Denver is playing their best basketball of the season winning 7 of their last 8 games.
#7 Riverdale Ridge over #10 Lamar (Top game in Sweet 16)
This I believe could be the best game in the Sweet 16. Both teams enter on big winning streaks with Riverdale Ridge winning 6 straight and Lamar winning 10 straight. The main question for Lamar is can they slow the top scorer in 4A.
Jenny Coalson Region
#3 University over #19 Jefferson Academy
Jefferson Academy pulled the other big upset in the first round defeating #14 Coal Ridge. Jefferson Academy will look for another upset but will have to play their best basketball of the season. University will be the heavy favorite in this matchup and look for them to come out quick.
#11 Peak to Peak over #6 Eaton (Top game in Sweet 16)
This could be another great matchup. Peak to Peak ended the year winning 5 straight games and they dominated in their opening round matchup. Peak to Peak last loss was by 1 to Colorado Academy. Peak to Peak will need to play their best game to pull the upset. I have Eaton on upset alert but Eaton is playing good basketball as well losing by just 10 to University. Eaton will have to key on the star player for Peak to Peak and if they can slow her down they will avoid the upset.
