Class 1A Football Playoff Projections & Predictions Week 9

This year to reach the playoffs is simple. Either win your league title or be inside the top 16 of the CHSAA Seeding Index. After they select the 16 teams that make the playoffs, they use the CHSAA Seeding Index to seed the playoffs. This week I will be giving my predictions on who makes the playoffs, but I will also look at if the season ended today who would make the playoffs at the end. Good Luck to all teams.

Class 1A Playoff Predictions (Who I think make the playoffs)

This is who I think make the playoffs and who win the leagues. In Class 1A all-league champions are guaranteed a berth. The rest will be selected by CHSAA Seeding Index. Seeding is determined by CHSAA Seeding Index. I am picking my 10 At-Large teams via non-league schedules, remaining schedules, and how I think teams will do. League Champions are posted first then the At-Large Teams.

League Champion Predictions

Frontier: Strasburg

The Frontier League title will not be decided until next week when Strasburg will face Platte Canyon.

Longs Peak: Highland

Highland will face Flatirons Academy this week. If Flatirons Academy wins they win the league title. If Highland wins the league championship game will be next week when they face Manual.

North Central: Limon

Limon will face Wiggins this week. Limon can win the league title win a win over Wiggins. A Wiggins win would force a three-way tie for first place.

South Central: Centauri

The South Central League Title will not be decided until next week when Centauri will face Monte Vista.

Tri-Peaks: Banning Lewis

Banning Lewis will face Rye this week and this is for the league title. A Banning Lewis win gives them the league title. If Rye upsets Banning Lewis, they force the three-way tie for first.

Western Slope: Meeker/Buena Vista/Gunnison

Currently we have a three way tie for the league title. I am not sure of the tiebreaker if anyone know let me know. Of course, that is if a few scenarios pan out. If Gunnison beat North Fork and Buena Vista beats Cedaredge we end with a three-way tie. If Gunnison loses to North Fork and Buena Vista beats Cedaredge, then Meeker wins the league title. If Buena Vista loses to Cedaredge and Gunnison beats North Fork, then Gunnison wins the league title. Buena Vista does not play Cedaredge till next week.

Playoff Hunt for Final Spots

Platte Canyon, Rye, Burlington, Flatirons Academy, Denver Christian

I think this week’s games will tell us a ton about who is really in the playoff hunt. Cedaredge, Yuma, Platte Canyon, Monte Vista, Rye are the main teams in the mix. Cedaredge has just one game remaining against Buena Vista next week. Yuma ends the year with Holyoke and Limon. Platte Canyon ends the year with Middle Park and Strasburg. Monte Vista ends the year with Center and Centauri. And Rye ends the year with Banning Lewis and Rocky Ford. I have Yuma in the field this week. I believe even with two loses to end the year they will get in. Monte Vista has a must win at Center this week and I think even with a loss to Centauri they should still get in. Platte Canyon, I believe must win out. I think one loss kills their RPI and drops them out of the playoffs. Rye also must win out and that includes upsetting Banning Lewis. I believe if my predictions are right Cedaredge is #13, Monte Vista is #14, and Yuma is #15. With the last spot going to the Long Peak League. Of course, anything can change with just 1 upset.

This is if the season ended today 10/18/2023. Using the CHSAA Seeding Index I will come up with the Playoff field. League Champions selected with my Predictions. I will seed & select the bracket with the CHSAA Seeding Index. Remember this is still early and things will change. The league champions I selected are at the top with the at-large berths following.
