Girls Basketball Class 1A Regional Projections and State Predictions
For my projections I am using the CHSAA Seeding and Selection Index. I am going to be predicting the District Champions and may just give a quick reason as to why I picked each District Champion. If you are a District Champion ranked in the top 16 of the Seeding Index, you will automatically host a regional. Remember to qualify for Regionals you must be ranked inside the top 32 or win your District. I won’t be picking the 8 teams I think make it to state until later in the season.

Class 1A
- District must unanimously agree prior to the season on their own seeding criteria. If an agreement cannot be met, district Seeding will be done by the CHSAA Seeding & Selection Index (50% Maxpreps & 50% RPI). Maxpreps and RPI will run through Districts.
- District Winners (8) advancing to the 32-team state bracket. District Champions are guaranteed a top 8 (host slot) as long as they are in the top 16 of the CHSAA Seeding & Selection Index after Districts.
- Remaining 24 teams are filled in by the CHSAA Seeding & Selection Index published after Districts. Any team moved up to the 1-8 slots if a District winner is not in the top 16, will be true seeded 1-8.
- Seeding criteria for the 32-team state bracket-CHSAA Seeding & Selection Index published after Districts. Seed 9-16 are true seeded except to try and avoid league matchups in the FIRST ROUND ONLY. Teams may be moved one spot up or down. Teams 17-32 may be moved two spots based upon geography and league/district matchups.
- First two rounds of the state tournament (Regionals) will be hosted by the top seed in the quadrant of the bracket, over two days. (4-teams total)
- Teams will be reseeded prior to the final week-state championship (Final 8). The CHSAA Index published after Districts will be the only factor for State Seeding.
- Top 8 teams will advance. Class 1A Great 8 will play a Consolation Bracket.
District Tournament Winners
District 1: Dove Creek
District 1 looks to be a two-horse race between De Beque and Dove Creek for the District Crown. I believe they have split the season series so for and will make for an exciting District Tournament. (I believe this District will be seeded by the Seeding Index, if I am wrong send me a message.)
District 2: McClave
District 2 is going to be a slugfest. 3 team currently sit inside the top 10 with 4 teams inside the top 16 and 6 teams inside the top 32. McClave seems to be the early favorite but look for Eads and Kit Carson to both challenge for the District Crown. (I believe this District will be seeded by the Seeding Index, if I am wrong send me a message.)
District 3: Springfield
Currently District 3 wouldn’t host a regional. South Baca and Springfield are the two top teams at #20 & #21. They seem to be the main threats for the league crown but do not count out Kim/Branson for the District Crown as well. (I believe this District will be seeded by the Seeding Index, if I am wrong send me a message.)
District 4: Briggsdale
Briggsdale and Fleming remain the favorites to win the league but Prairie is also in the mix sitting at #10 in the Seeding Index. Avoiding the tough Semifinal matchup could be key to winning the District Crown. (I believe this District will be seeded by the North Central League Standings, if I am wrong send me a message.)
District 5: Stratton
Another District that looks to be very tough. Currently 2 teams are inside the top 6 but 5 teams sit inside the top 20 with two others inside the top 26. Stratton appears to be the favorite to win the District Crown but Idalia, Flagler, and Hi-Plains will all challenge for that spot. (I believe this District will be seeded by the Seeding Index, if I am wrong send me a message.)
District 6: Sangre De Cristo
Sangre De Cristo is my team to beat. Another challenger has not stepped up early in the season so far. Creede is the only team with more than 2 wins besides Sangre De Cristo. District 6 could be a bit down this year and Sangre De Cristo will need to run the table to try and push for a regional host. Currently they would not be hosting at #18. (This District will be seeded by the Southern Peaks league Standings)
District 7: Kiowa
Another district that would possibly not be hosting a regional. Kiowa is the top team at #17 and would not be hosting. District 7 has just 4 teams inside the top 32 currently. I think Genoa-Hugo and Hanover could challenge for the district crown. (I believe this District will be seeded by the Seeding Index, if I am wrong send me a message.)
District 8: Flatirons Academy
Flatirons Academy appears to be the favorite yet again in District 8. Rocky Mountain Lutheran appears to be the main challenger. Currently just 3 teams sit inside the top 32 of the 5280 League. (I believe this District will be seeded by the 5280 League Standings, if I am wrong send me a message.)
