Class 2A Girls State Tournament Predictions
We are a few days from the State Tournament kicking off. I have decided to deem Tuesday as Prediction Tuesday. I will give my predictions for all 3 Classes boys and girls. Tomorrow we will have something special for all 3 classes boys and girls. If you would like to share your predictions shoot me a message or email, would love to talk basketball with anyone! Also, remember we are not cheering against any team, this is something we have done since we started the website and we are wrong all the time!
Class 2A Girls Regional Prediction Review
Class 2A Girls only saw one double digit seed pull the upset and that was #12 Wiggins upsetting #5 Sanford. I did pick 5 of the 8 State Qualifiers correct missing, #8 Mancos, #6 Denver Christian, and #7 Wiggins.

Elite 8 Predictions
#1 Merino over #8 Mancos
Merino enters as the only undefeated team in Class 2A and your runners up from a season ago. They are the favorite according to most people. Merino took care of business at regional dominating both games. Mancos may be playing their best basketball of the season. They had a tough win over Del Norte then defeated defending State Champions Sedgwick County. Mancos will look for another big upset in the opening round. I think Merino experience help them in this game.
#4 Hoehne over #5 Simla
This should be a fantastic matchup after Hoehne dominated both games at their regional. Simla hit the road in their regional and walked away with an OT win over Dayspring Christian. I have gone back and forth on this matchup, and I think either team can win. Both teams have momentum after regionals, and I think comes down to the wire.
#3 Burlington over #6 Denver Christian
Another great matchup! Burlington played very well at regionals with 10+ point win in both games including over a solid Limon team. Burlington makes the return trip and hope to make a deeper run this state tournament. Denver Christian continues to play great basketball and also dominated at regionals picking up a pair of 10+ point wins as well. Denver Christian will be looking for the upset in the opening round this year. Experience could be key in this matchup and Burlington has the edge. This could be a higher scoring contest.
#2 Rangely over #7 Wiggins
Another great matchup. Wiggins pulled the upset on the road last weekend defeating Sanford. Wiggins will now look for another upset in the opening round. Wiggins has the length to matchup well with Rangely. Rangely dominated their region winning both games by 30+ points. Rangely is on an impressive winning streak with their last loss coming back in December to 3A #5 Yuma. Rangely and Wiggins both made the state tournament last season. This will be a great matchup with either team coming out with the win.

As I mentioned above, I think we are in for four great games to open the state tournament. I think all four games will be competitive this year. It will come down to who can handle the pressure of playing under the lights at Blue Arena. I plan on doing daily updates after each round.
