Class 2A Wrestling Week 1 Review and Week 2 Preview

We kicked off the Wrestling Season last week and we had some great tournaments and Duals to get the season started. We take a look back at Week 1 plus look ahead to the big Tournaments and Duals in Week 2.

Week 1 Review

Buena Vista Demon Duals

Buena Vista

Buena Vista showed off serious depth across the lower and middle weights, with multiple wrestlers stacking bonus‑point wins. Dax Eggleston (106) went 2–2, with a fall over Mikey Cornella. Matthew Torrens (113) finished 1–0 in contested matches, earning a fall over Xander Gore. At 126, George Martin went 2–2. Xavier Santer (138) delivered one of the Demons’ best performances, going 4–1 with a tech fall and two additional falls. Dex Whitmore (144) added a 3–2 record with two falls. Abel Flowers (190) posted a 2–1 day with a fall over Liam Htut. 

Peyton

Peyton had several wrestlers step up with strong individual performances. Austin Kenyon (106) went 3–0, earning two falls and a win over Dax Eggleston. Emanuel Fiocco (126) finished 3–1, recording two falls and a decision. Joseph Ornelas (138) went 3–2, with two falls and a decision. 

Sierra Grande/Centennial

Sierra Grande/Centennial produced a couple strong individual performances. Daniel Rodriguez (144) went 2–3, with a fall over Kameron Gow. Reyin Goudace (215) went 2–2, with a fall over Henry Horne. 

Trinidad

Trinidad had several wrestlers put together productive days. Santiino Garcia‑Sanchez (113) finished 3–0, earning a fall, a tech fall, and a decision. Jose Padilla (120) went 3–2, recording two falls and a decision. Albert Lopez (126) delivered a strong 3–2 performance with two falls and a decision. Dominic Edwards (175) was excellent at 5–0, recording four falls and a decision. Connor Knezel (215) finished 2–3. Trinidad’s lineup produced a high number of falls, making them one of the more dangerous 2A teams in the field.

West Grand

West Grand delivered one of the most exciting 2A performances of the tournament, with multiple wrestlers piling up falls. Caleb Klotz (106) went 3–1, earning two falls and a decision. Alan Lopez (126) finished 2–3. Henry Kellen (132) went 3–2, recording two falls and a decision. Corden Stone (144) went 3–2, earning two falls and a major. Landon Lockhart (157) was outstanding at 4–0, recording four falls. Ruben Hatcher (175) delivered a perfect 4–0 day with four falls. Charles Wolverton (190) went 2–2, with a fall over Liam Htut. Conner Stone (215) finished 2–3, with a fall over Ben Gates. West Grand’s lineup was explosive, few 2A teams produced more pins.

For week 2 it appears the place to be is the Limon Badger Invitational.  From what I have found they may have a ton of 2A teams in attendance, including the likes of Akron, Burlington, Byers, Calhan, Center, County Line, Dayspring Christian, Ellicot, Holly, Holyoke, Kiowa, Limon, Merino, Peyton, Rye, Sargent, Simla, Springfield, Stratton, Swink, Trinidad, West Grand, Wiggins, and Yuma. Several other teams will be heading to the Western Slope Showdown in Montrose, and The Rob Mickel in Salida
