Class 3A Softball Weekly Review and Preview
The 2026 softball season is officially here! Some teams have already rolled out games prior to this week, while others are hitting the game field for the first time this season. This week we look at out top 18 teams and see how each team is starting the season, rather its wins or losses already added to their record of if they are trying to start off on the right foot.

University
University began their season yesterday, taking on Severance on the road. The Bulldogs pulled out the win 4-3, starting their 2026 season off 1-0. Leading the game yesterday and the team so far are stat leaders Ella Galindo who had 2 stolen bases, Emma Zacheis who had 2 stolen base and 1 run, Lily Marquez who had a 0.00 ERA, 6 strikeouts, 1 run and 1 hit, Madi Dominquez who had 1 run, Kenzie Wyatt who had 1 hit , Kamzee Kern who had 2 RBI, and Bergen Durate who had 1 RBI. To wrap up the end of their first week of play, University will play on 8/21 against The Academy and La Junta and then Rocky Ford and Limon on 8/22.
The Classical Academy
TCA kicked off their first game of the season yesterday on the road in Canon City. The team was able to give themselves a 1-0 start to the year after beating Canon City 14-4. Players who lead this game and are the first to appear on the stat leader board are Aca Fluegge with 1 home run, a 0.00 ERA, and 2 RBI, Taytum Kimbro who had 3 stolen bases, 4 runs, 4 hits and 4 RBI, Ada Wilson who had 2 stolen bases. 2 runs and 3 hits, Khloe Lutgen with 1 stolen base Rilee Sanson with 2 runs, and Carina Passarelli with 3 hots and 4 RBI. The next game for the Titans will be on 8/22 on the road against D’Evelyn.
Lyons
Lyons is off to a 3-0 start, getting wins over Peak to Peak in their first game 27-1, getting a win over Timnath in their second game 15-0, and getting a win over Greeley Central 20-0. The Lions will be looking to continue their early season success to end the week and will travel to Forge Christian on 8/20. Leading the team so far on the stat board are Greta Hildebrand with 2 home runs, 8 hits, and 12 RBI, Dahlia Oviatt with 3 home run and 12 RBI, Emerson Riley with a 0.00 ERA and 10 runs, Leora Hagan with1 home run, 9 runs and 9 hits, Ava Vasquez with 4 stolen bases and 10 runs, Gretta Wynha with a 0.00 ERA, 7 hits and 7 RBI, Autumn Johnsey with 4 stolen bases and Ella White with 3 stolen bases.
Brush
The Beetdiggers start their 2026 season off with a 3-2 overall record, getting wins over Northridge 11-2, Bear Creek 15-0, splitting with Roosevelt, falling 0-7 but then getting a 5-4 win, and then losing Berthoud yesterday 1-7. Brush still has a busy week ahead of them playing in some tournament play, taking on Limon and Lamar on 8/21 and Delta, The Academy, and La Junta on 8/22. Stat leaders so far this season are Gracie Martinez with 1 home run, 2 stolen bases, 4 runs, 6 hits, and 5 RBI, Tatim Chad with 2 stolen bases, Hayden Epple who has 1 home run, 1 stolen base, and 2 RBI, Isabella Mesch with a 0.00 ERA and 5 hits, Emry Chard with a 3.59 ERA, Elizabeth Peckham with an 11.31 ERA and 3 RBI, Izabella Talmich with 5 runs and 4 hits, and Addy Neal with 3 runs
Southeast Colorado
The Angels were able to get their first win of the season during their first game yesterday against Rocky Ford, beating the Meloneers 8-5. Southeast Colorado is now 1-0 to start the 2026 season and will be looking to continue the programs success this season. The next game for the team will be on the road on 8/22 against Cheyenne Mountain.
Wellington
Wellington started their season off with a tough opponent in Windsor yesterday and lost to them 1-11, starting their season off 0-1. The team will be looking to bounce back before the end of this week and get some wins under their belt as they participate in tournament play this weekend. Their first game will be on 8/21 against Grand Junction Central and they will be Friday and Saturday to end their first week of games. After the first game, stat leaders are Whitley Schweitzer who had 1 run, London Morgan who had 1 hit, Kiley Newberry who had 1 hit and Alanna Sandlin who had 1 RBI.
Strasburg
Strasburg starts the season off 0-1 after falling to Eaton yesterday 0-12. Even though this is not the way the team wanted to start their season, they will have a big chance this weekend to bounce back and get some wins added to their record. Starting on 8/21, the Indians will participate in tournament play that begins on 8/21, their first game being against Peak to Peak followed by Delta. On 8/22, Strasburg will take on Lamar.
Forge Christian
The Fury kick off their season this week against Lyons on 8/20. Last season the team went 22-4 overall, 6-0 in league play and took the 1st place spot in the Denver Metro league. The team did not face Lyons last season but will be looking to start their season off strong and get the win. To end the week, Forge Christian will go on the road and take on Green Mountain and will be looking to end the week with a 2-0 overall start to the 2026 season.
Lamar
The Thunder roll will start their 2026 season off with tournament play on 8/21 and 8/22. Their first game will be against Delta followed by Brush on Friday. The team will end the week with games against Strasburg and Weld Central to end the week. Last season, Lamar ended the season with a 14-12 overall record, a 5-3 league record and in 2nd in the Tri Peaks league. When Lamar faced Brush last year, Brush beat them 10-4, and Strasburg also got the win 12-10. The Thunder will be looking to roll over the competition this weekend and start the season 4-0.
Berthoud
The Spartans are currently 2-0 to start the season, getting wins of Mountain View 19-0 and Brush 7-1. Berthoud will play a couple of more games this before the end of the week and will be looking to add some more wins to their record for a strong start to 2026. These games will be at home against Loveland on 8/20 and on the road against Sterling on 8/22. Leading the team so far are Camryn Olivas who has 1 stolen base and 3 RBI, Carys McGuinn who has 1 stolen base and 3 RBI, Addi Kisselbach who has a 0.78 ERA, Olivia Scott who has 4 runs and 3 hits, Alana Lukensow who has 4 runs, Kiley Brinkman who has 4 runs and 4 hits, and Bailey Lith who has 4 hits and 3 RBI.
Alamosa
The Mean Moose get ready to kick off their 2026 season this week in tournament play beginning on 8/21 against Fort Lupton and Wray. The team will then play the next day against Platte Valley and Holyoke. Last season, Alamosa ended the season 16-11 overall, 3-5 in league play, and finished 4th in the Tri-Peaks I league. The only team that Alamosa faced last season was Holyoke, which was a win for the Mean Moose 14-2. The team will be looking to end their first week of the season 4-0.
Elizabeth
The Cardinals started their season off yesterday, taking on Grandview and falling to them 4-11. Elizabeth starts a 0-1 for the year but will be looking to rebound and get some wins on their record before the end of the week. The team will be hosting Severance on 8/20 and Chaparral on 8/21 to end the week and try and get some wins. Leading the team so far are Alie Dey with 1 home run, 2 runs, 1 hit, and 2 RBI, Larissa Wesbrook with 1 stolen base and 2 RBI, Mae Aubert with 1 stolen base, Grace Carlson with an 8.40 ERA, 2 runs, and 2 hits, Charli Kugler who has an 18.38 ERA, and Makayla Wilson with 1 hit.
Cedaredge
Cedaredge already has three games under their belt, including two league games and are currently 3-0 overall and 2-0 in league play and currently sit 3rd in the Western Slope league. The Bruins were able to get wins over Aspen 18-0, Eagle Valley 7-4 and Basalt 12-10. The team will be looking to continue their success this week and will play Weld Central and Rocky Ford on 8/21 and then La Junta and Peak to Peak on 8/22. Leading the team so far this season on the stat board are Meri Hollembeak with 1 home run, 2 stolen bases and 6 hits, Tia Homedew with 1 home run, a 0.62 ERA,7 runs, and 8 RBI, Kiera Stroh with 2 stolen bases and 6 runs, Chloee Hebert with 1 stolen base, Kimbry Hebert with a 0.00 ERA, 5 runs, and 5 RBI, Mia Gallegos with 7 hits and 6 RBI, and Kenleigh Keller with 5 hits.
La Junta
The Tigers are currently 0-1 to start the season after losing their first game of the season against Pueblo Centennial 5-15. Tigers who lead that game and are currently on the stat leader board are Chloe Numez who has 4 stolen bases, 1 run, and 1 hit, Julianna Vasquez who has 3 stolen bases and 1 hit, Madayln Tafoya who has 2 stolen bases and 2 runs, Isabelle Aragon who has a 12.25 ERA, Natalya Herrera who has 1 run , and Ramie Gonzales who has 1 hit. La Junta will be looking to bounce back from their first loss and add some wins to their record this week as they participate in tournament play, starting on 8/21 against University followed by The Academy. Then on 8/22, the Tigers will take on Cedaredge and Brush.
Delta
The Panthers are off to a 3-0 start to their 2026 season, so far getting wins over Moffat County 26-0, Basalt 19-6 and Battle Mountain in a forfeit. Delta will be looking to maintain their success this week and add more wins to their record as they participate in tournament play. Their first game on 8/21 will be against Lamar followed by Strasburg, then they will play Limon and Brush on 8/22. Leading the teams stat leaders board so far are Sophia Siennicki with 2 home runs, 3 stolen bases, 7 runs, 3 hits and 5 RBI, Jazlyn Naranjo with 1 home run, 4 hits, and 6 RBI, Hailey Thomas with 5 stolen bases and 5 runs, Brooklyn Carlquist with 2 stolen bases, Lily Gallegos with a 0.00 ERA, Kaden White with a 0.00 ERA, Camdyn Stoddard with a 21.00 ERA, Izzy Harrison with 7 runs, and Jaidyn Robinson with 3 hits and 3 RBI.
Sterling
The Sterling Tigers have started their season off 1-1 so far, losing their first game against Resurrection Christian 15-14 and getting a big win over Holyoke 15-0. The Tigers will be looking to keep their success and momentum going and will be looking for a win on 8/22 as they host Berthoud. Stat leaders for the team are Lauren Emmerson with 3 stolen bases, Karsyn Tonche with 2 stolen bases, 4 runs, and 4 hits, Adelyn Beeson with 2 stolen bases, Ermerson Ross with a 7.00 ERA, 4 runs, 3 hots and 3 RBI, Haylee Lambert with 4 runs and 5 RBI, and Kenzie King with 3 hits and 3 RBI.
Weld Central
Weld Central kicks off their season today on the road and will travel to Limon for a double header, where the Rebels will be looking for a 2-0 start. Now that the team is starting, they will end the weekend after playing 6 games this week, the next ones coming in tournament play starting on 8/21 against Cedaredge and Rocky Ford, and then they will face Lamar and Peak to Peak on 8/22.
D’Evelyn
The Jaguars start their 2026 season today at home and will be taking on Ralston Valley. The team will be hoping for a 1-0 start leading into this weekend where D’Evelyn will host The Classical Academy on 8/22. The team will be hoping that by next week, they are sitting with a 2-0 start to their season.
