Class 3A Softball Weekly Review and Preview

The Softball season is in full swing, with many teams having already participated in several games and/or tournament play over the weekend. This week we examine our top 16 teams and see what their records are starting to look like, opponents they faced, players who are rising to the top of the stat boards, and who each team will play during the next week.
University
University is off to a strong start in the 2026 season, currently sitting at 6-0 with wins over Severance 4-3, The Academy 11-1, La Junta 15-5, Rocky Ford 11-5, Limon 15-0 and Northridge 7-4. Bulldogs who have been making their way to the top of the stat board and leading the team are Kenny Peconi who has 3 home runs, 7 hits and 8 RBI, Kamzee Kern who has 2 home runs, 8 rubs, 8 hits and 7 RBI, Olivia Williams who has 1 home run, Emma Zacheis who has 5 stolen bases, Kenzie Wyatt who has 3 stolen bases and 9 hits, Ella Galindo who has 2 stolen bases, Aubrey Luera-Smith who has a 1.68 ERA, Hannah Ramseier who has a 2.33 ERA, Lily Marquez who has a 2.76 ERA, Madi Dominguez who has 6 runs and Bergen Duarte who has 6 RBI. The Bulldogs will be looking to continue their success during the next week of play as they host Greeley West on 8/27 and then travel to Windsor on 8/28.
Lyons
Lyons find themselves having a successful start to their season, currently sitting at 5-0 after the first couple weeks of play. Lyons has gotten these wins over Peak to Peak 27-1, Timnath 15-0, Greeley Central 20-0, Forge Christian 6-1 and The Academy 14-0. The Lions should be able to add another win to their record this week as they host the 0-6 Limon Badgers on 8/27 to end the week of play. Stat leaders for the Lions so far this season are Dahlia Oviatt who has 3 home runs and 14 RBI, Greta Hildebrand with 2 home runs, 11 hits and 12 RBI, Ava Vasquez with 1 home run, 6 stolen bases, and 13 runs, Ella Martinez who has 5 stolen bases, Autumn Johnsey who has 4 stolen bases, Emerson Riley who has 14 runs, Leora Hagan with 11 runs and 13 hits and Gretta Wynja who has 14 hits and 9 RBI.
Berthoud
The Spartans were delt their first loss of the season yesterday on the road when they faced Elizabeth, falling to the cardinals 6-9. Up until then, the team was on a 5-game winning streak, having beat Mountain View 19-0, Brush 7-1, Loveland 12-2, Sterling 1407 and Conifer 10-0. Berthoud is now 5-1 overall on the season and will be looking to get a win over last years 4A State Champions, Holy Family, on the road on 8/29. Next week, Berthoud will kick off games at home and will host Northridge on 9/1. Leading the team so far this season are Carys McGuinn with 1 home run and 8 RBI, Camryn Olivas with 1 home run, 10 runs, 13 hits and 15 RBI, Alana Lukensow with 1 home run, 3 stolen bases10 runs, 11 hits and 8 RBI, Kiley Brinkman with 5 stolen bases, 11 runs, and 10 hits, Phoebe Hollander with 2 stolen bases, Delilah Harrell with a 0.00 ERA, Addi Kisselbach with a 0.35 ERA, and Madi Giera with a 4.67 ERA.
D’Evelyn
D’Evelyn starts their season off with a 2-0 record, getting wins over Ralston Valley 14-2 and The Classical Academy 15-0. The Jaguars will be looking to continue adding wins to their record and remain in the top rankings. This week, the team will go on the road to face Arapahoe on 8/27. Leading the Jaguars so far this season on the stat board are Aubrey Giddens with 1 home run, Myla Seda with 1 home run, 1 stolen base, and 7 RBI, Hallie Book with 1 home run and a 1.00 ERA, Claudia Harris with 3 stolen bases, 5 runs, and 3 hits, Myla Vigil with 3 stolen bases, 4 runs, 5 hits, and 5 RBI, Lyla Nagy with 6 runs, and Calista Hinestroza with 4 hits and 6 RBI.
The Classical Academy
The Classical Academy is 1-1 to start the season. The team started their season off with a 14-4 win over Canon City and then fell to D’Evelyn 0-15. The Titans will be looking to get some more wins added to their record in this next week of play and will first host Arapahoe on 8/29 and then they will start next week off by traveling to Lewis Palmer on 9/1. Leading the Titans stat board so far this year are Ava Fluegge with 1 home run, a 7.74 ERA, and 2 RBI, Taytum Kimbro with 3 stolen basses 4 runs, 5 hits and 4 RBI, Ada Wilson with 2 stolen bases2 runs, and 3 hits, Khloe Lutgen with 1 stolen base, and Carina Passarelli with 2 runs, 4 hits and 4 RBI.
Brush
Brush has had a busy start to their season with 9 games already under their belt. The Beetdiggers are currently 7-2 overall, beating Northridge 11-1, Bear Creek 15-0, falling to Roosevelt in one game 0-7 but beating them the next 5-4, losing to Berthoud 1-7, and then getting wins over Limon 18-1, Lamar 5-0, Delta 10-8 and The Academy 17-2. During these games, players that climbed their way to the top of the teams stat board are Addy Neal with 1 home run, 5 stolen bases, and 9 runs, Gracie Martinez with 1 home run, 5 stolen bases, 8 runs, 12 hits and 7 RBI, Haedynn Epple with 1 home run and 9 hits, Wyleigh Kimball with 4 stolen bases and 8 runs, Isabella Mesch with a 1.31 ERA, 13 hits and 11 RBI, Emry Chard with a 3.50 ERA, Elizabeth Peckham with a 7.74 ERA, and Sidney Miller with 6 RBI. The team will be looking to get another win on their record to end this week and will travel to Weld Central on 8/27.
Wellington
The Eagles currently sit with a 2-4 overall record, their wins overs Grand Junction Central 14-2 and Rocky Canyon 12-9, while their losses were against Windsor 1-11, Mean 6-12, Arapahoe 14-16 and Strasburg 0-12. Despite the start of the season not landing the way Wellington hoped, there is still a lot of season left for the team to get back on track. Today the team will take on Severance on the road, and then they will end the week hosting Peak to Peak on 8/27 and Timnath on 8/31. Stat leaders for Wellington are Kiley Newberry with 3 stolen bases, 5 runs, and 7 hits, Joecia Duran with 2 stolen bases, Camryn Strain with 2 stolen bases, 4 runs, and 3 RBI, Kiley Newberry with 5 runs and 7 hits, Scarlet McGuire with 4 runs, Reganne Johnson with 5 hits and 4 RBI, and Audrey Larson with 4 hits and 3 RBI.
Southeast Colorado
Southeast Colorado is off to a 1-2 start to their 2026 season. The Angels were able to win their first game over Rocky Ford, beating them 8-5 but have since fallen to Palmer Ridge 1-12 and Cheyenne Mountain 1-7. The team will be looking to bounce back and start adding more wins to their record. The Angels will be hosting Guymon on 8/27 to end the week of play and then will resume next weekend with tournament play.
Strasburg
The Indians are 5-1 to start their season, their lone loss coming against Eaton 0-12. Strasburg’s wins have come against Peak to Peak 12-5, Delta 22-7, Lamar 17-9, La Junta 11-3, and Wellington 12-0. The team will be looking to add more wins to their record and will end this week on the road taking on The Academy on 8/27. Stat leaders for Strasburg so far this season are Phebe Johnson with 3 home runs, an 8.25 ERA, 4 stolen bases, 11 runs, and 10 RBI, Wynne Winter with 2 home runs, 10 runs, 9 hits, and 8 RBI, Payton Weaver with 2 home runs, Addi Kent with 7 stolen bases, 12 runs, 12 hits and 8 RBI, Calleygh Hougland with 7 stolen bases, Taylor Bequette with a 4.04 ERA, Macy Meyer with a 12.60 ERA, and Morgan Sharff with 10 hits.
Forge Christian
The Fury currently sit with a 2-1 record, having lost their first game to Lyons 1-6 but bouncing back and getting wins over Green Mountain 8-3 and Resurrection Christian 17-14. Stat leaders for Forge Christian after the first three games are Devyn Haines with 1 stolen base, Eliana Castillo with 1 stolen base and 3 runs, Julianna Alfaro with a 5.14 ERA and 5 hits, Kaedence Miller with 3 runs, Maxine Rossi with 3 runs, 3 hits and 3 RBI, and Peyton Chester with 3 hits and 4 RBI. The Fury will be looking to add more wins to their record to end the week and will travel to Yuma to play a double header against the Outlaws on 8/28.
Delta
Delta starts their season off with a 5-2 overall record, a 3-0 league record, and in 2nd in the Western Slope League. The Panthers so far this season have beat league opponents Moffat County 26-0, Basalt 19-6, and Battle Mountain to forfeit, as well as Lamar 6-5 and Limon 18-2. Losses so far for the team were against Strasburg 7-22 and Brush 8-10. The Panthers have a chance to add more wins to their record to end this week of play and will host Montrose today, travel to Montezuma-Cortez tomorrow, then host Durango on 8/29 in a double header. Stat leaders for Delta so far this season are Sophia Siennicki with 2 home runs, 14 runs, 8 hits and 7 RBI, Jaidyn Robinson with 1 home run, 8 hits and 9 RBI, Jazlyn Naranjo with 1 home run, 6 stolen bases, 11 hits and 10 RBI, Brooklyn Carlquist with 7 stolen bases and 9 runs, Hailey Thomas with 7 stolen bases, Lily Gallegos with 3.96 ERA, and Izzy Harrison with 10 runs.
Lamar
The Thunder are off to a 1-3 start to the season after falling to Delta 5-6, Brush 0-5, and Strasburg 9-17, but getting the win over Weld Central 17-5. This is not the start Lamar thought they would have to their season, but will have a chance at the end of this week to add a couple of wins to their record and get back on track. On 8/29, the team will play Burlington and Wray to end the week. Leading the team so far this season are stat leaders Daisy Medina with 2 home runs, 5 hits, and 6 RBI, Sierra Esquibel with 1 home run, 6 runs, and 5 RBI, Alysa Jara with 1 stolen base, Jayla Kirkland with 1 stolen base, Yahirett Roman with 1 stolen base, Calin Weber with a 8.13 ERA, Alexus Campbell with 4 runs, 8 hits and 4 RBI, and Braelinn Penaflor with 4 runs.
Montezuma-Cortez
The Panthers have started their season off 5-0 overall and in league play, holding the 1st place spot in the Western Slope South League, getting wins over Battle Mountain via forfeit, Middle Park 19-0, Moffat County 17-0, and Meeker 13-1 and 12-2. Montezuma-Cortez will be looking to continue their success this week and will face Delta at home in another league game on 8/27. Leading the team so far this season are Ellisia Winter with 5 stolen bases, 6 hits, and 5 RBI, Madison Schuster with 4 stolen bases, Aubrey Taveira with 3 stolen bases, 8 runs, and 5 hits, Jayden White with a 0.00 ERA, Neveah Benn with 8 runs and 5 RBI, Raegan Veach with 7 runs, Paislee Mestas with 5 hits and Abbie Baker with 5 RBI.
Platte Valley
The Broncos are off to a 5-0 start to the 2026 season, getting wins over Fort Lupton 6-5. Holyoke 16-0, Alamosa 8-1, Wray 11-1 and Yuma 15-5. Platte Valley will have a chance to add a few more wins to their record to end the week and will host Resurrection Christian on 8/27 and will travel to face Eagle Valley and Basalt on 8/29. Leading the Broncos’ stat board so far this season are Landree Edstrom with 7 stolen bases, 11 runs, 8 hits, and 9 RBI, Kyra Jessop with 3 stolen bases and 7 runs, Alyssa Kendrick with 2 stolen bases, a 1.22 ERA, 9 runs, and 6 hits, Angelica Lopez with 4 hits, Haylee Bauer with 8 RBI, and Charleigh Litfin with 5 RBI.
Alamosa
Alamosa starts their season off with a new coach and a 2-2 start to the season. The Mean Moose were able to win their first game against Fort Lupton 15-6 but then fell to Wray 6-7 and Platte Calley 1-8. The team then bounced back and got a win over the Holyoke Dragons 5-1. The team has the rest of this week off and will be looking to get some more wins added to their record at the end of next week during tournament play.
Valley
The Vikings are currently 6-0 to start their season, getting wins over Peak to peak 14-0, Greeley Central 15-2, Burlington 11-1, Florence 7-3, Yuma 7-6 and Timnath 17-10. Valley will be looking to continue adding wins to their record during the next week of play, which will start with some road games against Basalt and Eagle Valley on 8/29 and then next week the team will travel to Resurrection Christian on 9/1. Stat leaders for Valley so far this season are Danica Flesner with 2 home runs, 7 stolen bases, a 1.88 ErA, 12 runs, 11 hits and 9 RBI, Ashlyn Blackwell with 1 home run, Addison Dudley with 1 home run, RyAnn Litfin with 9 stolen bases, 9 runs, 9 hits and 6 RBI, Aubree Montoya with 8 stolen bases, 11 runs, and 9 hits, and Katherine Orona Aguilar with 7 RBI.
