Class 2A Volleyball Weekly Review and Preview

The 2026 Volleyball season is in full swing now and many teams are starting to find their place the rankings and are starting to make runs for the league leaderboards. This week, we review the top 16 teams in 2A based on our rankings that came out on September 7th.
Wiggins
Wiggins is currently 6-0 overall after getting their latest win over Merino 3-1. The Tigers will be looking to keep their perfect record alive tonight and will be on the road to take on Highland in a league game. Next week, Wiggins will look to keep the top spot and will travel to Simla on 9/15. Stat leaders for Wiggins are Brynn Neal has 9 blocks, Tenleigh Lorenzini with 9 blocks, 5 aces, and 50 kills, Kellie Vicchrilli with 6 blocks and 69 digs, Jaydin Busch with 14 aces and172 assists, Karsyn Ker with 3 aces, 91 digs, 6 assists, 69 kills and 70 receptions, Isabella Fanatia with 69 digs 8 assists, and 72 receptions, Kynley Yzaguirre with 41 kills and Juliet Leon with 74 receptions.
Sedgwick County
The Cougars are currently 4-2 overall this season, receiving their two losses over the last week of play against McClave 0-3 and Fleming 2-3. Sedgwick County will be looking to rebound after a tough week of play and get a win or two in the next week of play. The team will be looking for the wins during a home game against South Platte on 9/10 and a road game against Chase County on 9/15. Stat leaders so far this season for the Cougars are Piper Buettenback with 4 blocks, 30 digs, 52 kills and 38 receptions, Addison Renquist with 4 blocks, 47 assists, and 17 kills, Daryn Nein with 4 blocks, 42 digs, 30 kills and 71 receptions, Sophia Rahe with 8 aces and 24 assists, Ryen Carlson with 8 aces, 37 digs, 45 assists, and 39 receptions, and Natalie Lanckriet with 7 aces.
Dolores
The Bears currently have a perfect season record at 4-0 with a recent win over Nucla 3-0. This also puts the team at a 1-0 start to league play and in 1st in the San Juan Basin League. Tonight, Dolores will go on the road to take on the Salida Spartans and then the team will play in tournament play on 9/12 starting against Sanford. The team will be looking to keep their perfect record intact through this next week of games. Leading the team on the stat board are Addyson Wyatt with 14 blocks, 9 aces, 31 digs, and 66 assists, Sophee Heaton with 8 blocks and 21 kills, Akaia Edwards with 6 blocks, Ayvree Wyatt with 9 aces, 52 kills and 44 receptions, Kendall Chavez with 7 aces, 40 digs, 6 assists, 38 kills and 53 receptions, Layla Mitchell with 58 digs and 70 receptions, and Madison Thornbrugh with 51 assists.
Vail Christian
Vail Christian is currently 5-1 overall on the season, 1-0 in league play and 4th in the Western Slope League. Since the start of the month, the Saints are on a three game winning streak, getting victories over Vail Mountain 3-0, Battle Mountain 3-2 and Gunnison 3-0. The team will be looking to keep the winning streak alive and will be taking on Lyons on 9/12 and then league opponent Meeker on the road on 9/15. Stat leaders for the Saints are Ryan Baron with 13 blocks, Stella Hawkins with 12 blocks, 13 aces, and 26 kills, Tenley Brasington with 7 blocks, 17 aces, and 157 assists, Camden Allen with 10 aces, Sam Bates with 66 digs, 6 assists, and 82 receptions, Mary McClarrinon with 46 digs, 57 kills and 67 receptions, Michelle Teague with 37 digs, 66 kills and 94 receptions, and Harper Kauffman with 6 assists.
Lyons
The Lions are currently 3-3 overall on the season, 1-0 in league play and currently hold the 1st place spot in the Mile High League. In the month of September, Lyons has fallen to Peak to Peak 1-3 but was able to get wins over Highland 3-2 and Clear Creek in a league game 3-0. The team will be looking to get more wins on their record this weekend when they participate in tournament play on 9/12, taking on Vail Christian first. Next week, league games will resume for Lyons as they host SkyView Academy on 9/15. Leading the team on the stat board so far this season are Michaela Coleman with 12 blocks and 70 kills, Poet Mackinnon with 9 blocks, Greta Gadbaw with 6 blocks and 51 assists, Carmen Dumbauld with 27 aces and 150 assists, Annabelle Hay with 16 aces, 66 digs, 46 kills and 16 receptions, Gwen Gadbaw with 83 digs and 18 receptions, and Audrey Voss with 71 digs, 5 assists, 53 kills and 7 receptions.
Merino
Merino has a 5-2 overall record with a 2-0 league record and are currently 1st in the Lower Platte League. In September, the Rams have lost to Wiggins 1-3 and Simla 0-3 but was able to get a league win over Wray 3-0. Merino will be looking to keep only two losses on their record and will resume games next week when they go on the road to face Weldon Valley on 9/15.
Centauri
The Falcons are 2-2 on the season after getting a league win over Pagosa Springs 3-0 but then falling to league opponent Alamosa 1-3. Centauri will be playing in tournament play this weekend and will try to find some momentum to add more wins to their record. The team will face Loveland and Montrose on 9/12 and then next week the Falcons will go on the road to take on Bayfield in a league game on 9/18. Stat leaders for Centauri are Rylie McCarroll with 9 blocks, 6 aces, and 19 kills, Kimbry Wilfong with 8 blocks and 5 aces, Analynn Dwyer with 7 blocks, Kenadie Wilfong with 7 aces, 16 digs, and 94 assists, Lauren Gallegos with 27 digs, 3 assists, and 57 receptions, Kynlei Curtis with 18 digs, 30 kills and 43 receptions, and Kaylee Smith with 2 assists.
Evangel Christian Academy
ECA is 4-0 on the season, their most recent win coming in their game against Custer County 3-0. The team will see if they can add another win to their record tonight as they go on the road to play Flagler. This weekend, the Eagles will play in tournament play and will face Plateau Valley, Akron and Cheraw. Next week, the team will go back on the road to play league opponent Calhan on 9/15. Stat leaders for ECA are Kate Hetzel with 9 blocks and 21 kills, Olivia Christensen with 7 blocks, Ellie Wagner with 4 blocks, 6 aces, 35 digs, 5 assists, and 42 kills, Mia Castro with 8 aces, 43 digs, 28 kills and 46 receptions, Bailey Roberts with 4 aces, 40 digs, 3 assists, and 51 receptions, Alyssa Costain with 96 assists, and Lucy Atkins with 22 receptions.
Yuma
Yuma is 2-3 on the season so far this year, losing to Sidney 0-3, beating Pine Bluffs 3-2, and falling to Chase County 1-3 in the month of September. The Outlaws will be looking to tie up their record next week as they go on the road to take on Platte Valley on 9/15. Stat leaders for Yuma so far this season are Taryn Sheffield with 5 blocks, 44 digs, 32 kills and 60 receptions, Emory McClaran with 4 blocks and 6 aces, Addison Armstrong with 3 blocks and 9 assists, Berkley Nighswonger with 9 aces, 58 digs, 24 kills and 58 receptions, Aubrey Black with 8 aces and 51 assists, Lindsey Hermosillo with 44 digs and 53 receptions, TaLynn Korf with 30 assists, and TaLynn Korf with 30 assists.
Heritage Christian
The Eagles are 5-1 on the season after getting a 3-1 win over Briggsdale. Heritage Christian will be looking to keep the winning momentum and add another win to their record as they host Liberty Common tonight. Stat leaders for the Eagles are Caleigh Smith with 3 blocks, 20 aces, and 125 assists, Annabelle Loucks with 2 blocks, 13 aces, 47 digs, 3 assists, 80 kills and 62 receptions, Eden Perea with 2 blocks, Julia Fotsch with 11 aces, 48 digs, 13 assists, and 97 receptions, Bethany Phillips with 31 digs, 38 kills and 51 receptions, and Partha Bor with 15 kills.
Akron
Akron currently has a perfect record intact at 7-0 with a 1-0 league record and the team is in 2nd in the Lower Platte League. The most recent win for the Rams was against league opponent Holyoke where the Rams pulled out the win 3-2. Akron will see if they can maintain their perfect record this weekend as they participate in tournament play on 9/12, taking on Cheraw, ECA and Platte Valley. Next week, Akron will play another league game on 9/15 on the road against Caliche. Leading the Rams’ stat board this season are AnnAMrie Stahn with 5 blocks, Molly O’Neil with 5 blocks, 6 aces, and 23 kills, Madison Woods with 4 blocks, 2 assists, 23 kills and 22 receptions, Payton Marshall with 9 aces and 33 digs, Rayna Fountain with 6 aces, 21 digs, and 15 receptions, Ella Koch with 18 digs, Taylor Cottman with 27 assists, and Mackenzie Fincher with 18 receptions.
Ignacio
Ignacio is currently 3-0 on the season, getting all wins 3-0 over Del Norte, Antonito and Olathe. The Bobcats will be playing to keep their record intact this weekend as they play in tournament play on 9/12, their first opponent being against Denver Christian. Stat leaders so far this season for the Bobcats are Alleah Neil with 10 blocks and 28 kills, Kelly Sirios with 4 blocks, 12 aces, 33 digs, and 65 assists, Reggi Gustafson with 2 blocks, Tarah Baker with 7 aces and 7 assists, Maliyah Martinez with 6 aces and 14 kills, Lainee Bradley with 27 digs, 16 kills and 28 receptions, Amira Montoya with 27digs and 17 receptions, and Lily Quintana with 4 assists and 20 receptions.
Cedaredge
Currently, Cedaredge has a perfect record at 8-0 overall, 4-0 in league play and the team is holding the 1st place spot in the Western Slope League. The most recent wins for the team were over league opponents Grand Valley 3-0 and De Beque 3-0. The Bruins have a few days off and then will resume league play on 9/18 against Meeker and will be looking to keep their perfect record. Leading the team on the stat board are Kinzie MacKendrick with 22 blocks, Macy Medill with 14 blocks, Lydia Tietz with 11 blocks, 17 aces, and 166 assists, Trieah Dittrich with 17 aces, 46 digs, 65 kills and 51 receptions, Zea Robidoux with 11 aces, 41 digs and 51 kills, Rachele Olson with 82 digs,14 assists and 91 receptions, Olivia Blair with 7 assists and 48 receptions, and Cambree Hanson with 25 kills.
Highland
The Huskies are currently 6-2 overall on the season with their most recent game resulting in a loss to Lyons 2-3. Tonight the team will have a tough opponent at home in Wiggins but Highland will be looking to pull the upset and add another win to their record. On 9/12 the Huskies will play in the Peak to Peak invite where they will be looking to win more games to end the week. Teams in this tournament will include Peak to Peak and Fort Lupton. Next week the team will go on the road to play Liberty Common on 9/15. Stat leaders for Highland are Madi Smith with 11 blocks and 44 kills, Isabella Tiley with 9 blocks, 3 assists, and 53 kills, Leah Vara with 5 blocks, 19 aces, and 180 assists, Annabelle Crider with 19 aces, 98 digs, 7 assists, and 131 receptions, Jordan Taylor with 18 aces, Ryleigh Wares with 40 digs and 54 receptions, Malia Boudreau with 39 digs and 62 receptions, and Sophia Martinez with 28 kills.
North Fork
The Miners are currently 4-0 overall on the season with a 2-0 league record and are sitting 3rd in the Western Slope League. The most recent wins for North Fork game against Rangely 3-0 and De Beque 3-0. Tonight the team will host Telluride and will be playing to maintain their perfect record. To end the week, the Miners will go on the road to play league opponent West Grand on 9/12 and then they will travel next week to Delta on 9/15. Stat leaders for North Fork are Ava Stucker with 1 block and 4 aces, Ashley Gibson with 1 block, 6 aces, 5 digs, 1 assists, 16 kills, and 3 receptions, Saydee Allen with 2 aces and 31 assists, Alyssa Dawes with 8 digs, Andie Heinritz with 5 digs, 1 assists and 11 receptions, Alyssa Lovelace with 7 kills and Avery Flores with 5 kills and 7 receptions.
Del Norte
The Tigers are 7-2 overall on the season with a 2-0 league record and are currently sitting in 1st in the Southern Peaks League. Del Norte was able to beat league opponents Sanford 3-1 and Buena Vista 3-0 in September. The Tigers will be looking to add another win to their record tonight as they take on Pagos Springs. To wrap up the week, the Tigers will travel to Custer County on 9/12 before the team gets a few days off of games. Stat leaders for Del Norte are Adysen Ruybal with 9 blocks, Makenzie Consaul with 18 aces and 41 kills, Emma Parra with 2 blocks, 95 digs, 6 assists and 80 kills, Julia Trujillo with 18 aces, 71 digs, 9 assists and 40 kills, Caleigh Sierra with 15 aces and 188 assists, and Catie Deacon with 61 digs.
