3A Volleyball Weekly Review and Preview

League play is starting to ramp up now and several teams are looking to stake their claim in that number one spot. This week we look at the top 16 teams in 3A according to the CHSAA Rankings and see what the next week of play has in store for them.
University
University currently has their perfect record still intact at 7-0 after beating Timnath last week 3-0 and Frontier Academy this week 3-0. The Bulldogs will be looking to maintain their perfect record next week when they play Platte Valley on 9/22 and Peak to Peak on 9/24. Leading the team on the stat board this season are Kaydence Lucero with 18 blocks, Kenley Rudiger with 15 blocks, 16 aces, 44 digs, and 212 assists, Grace Elbe with 13 blocks, Delaney Lauer with 16 aces, 56 digs, 111 kills and 46 receptions, Livianna Aguilar with 13 aces, 23 assists and 84 receptions, Holly Jennings with 28 assists, Carigen Lucero with 62 kills and Shylee Dyess with 49 receptions.
Resurrection Christian
The Cougars also currently have their perfect record intact at 8-0. During the last week of play, Resurrection Christian was able to get wins over Peak to Peak, Roosevelt and Stargate School all 3-0. The team will be looking for continued success next week as they take on Wiggins on 9/22 and Sterling on the road on 9/24. Stat leaders for the team are Tatum Highstreet with 27 blocks, Corinne Soukup with 18 blocks and 14 aces, Brooklyn Diepersloot with 19 blocks and 54 kills, Paige Michaelson with 15 aces, 43 digs, 79 kills and 40 receptions, Kylee Mayes with 13 aces, 67 digs, and 199 assists, Jada Nordhagen with 73 digs, 14 assists, and 123 receptions, Bradee Seely with 6 assists and Sadie Whyard with 50 kills and 40 receptions.
Holy Family
Over the last week of play, Holy Family was able to win all of their games except for 1, losing to Garden City 1-2, but getting wins over Alamosa 2-0, Durango 2-1, Centauri 2-0, Fedrick 3-0 and Mead in a league game 3-0. The Tigers are now 11-1 overall on the season, 3-0 in league play and 1st in the Granite Peaks League. Next week, the team will be looking to maintain their success and add more wins to their record when they go on the road and take on league opponents Monarch on 9/22 and at home on 9/23 against Centaurus. Stat leaders for Holy Family are Mary Siurek with 11 blocks, Jordyn Fox with 10 blocks, 16 aces, 92 digs, 128 kills and 94 receptions, Charolette Fisher with 9 blocks and 57 kills, Taylor Hillegass with 29 aces, 80 digs, and 251 assists, Jes Hoffman with 11 aces and 43 kills, Caoline Staff with 104 digs, 12 assists, and 123 receptions, and Reet Sandhu with 79 receptions.
The Classical Academy
TCA currently sits with a 8-2 overall record, a 2-0 league record and are 1st in the Continental league. This week, the Titans were able to beat Elizabeth 3-0 in the teams first league game and Highlands Ranch 3-1 in their second league game. The team will end the week on the road facing Pueblo County and Cheyenne Mountain. Next week, the team will host league opponent Ponderosa on 9/22. Leading the team this season on the stat board are Aubrie Renn with 16 blocks, 20 aces, and 54 kills, Ashlyn Delaney with 16 blocks, 69 digs, 124 kills and 139 receptions, CJ Connelly with 12 blocks, Caylee Somersalmi with 15 aces, 85 digs, 56 kills and 175 receptions, Claire Campos with 12 aces, Addy Macha with 70 digs, 9 assists, and 96 receptions, Sydney Corr with 139 assists, and Claire Gilbert with 117 assists.
Sterling
In the last few games, Sterling lost to Eaton 2-3, and beat Berthoud 3-1. The team is now 5-2 overall on the season and will be looking to add a win to their overall record and start league play off 1-0 next week when they take on Valley on 9/22. On 9/24 the team will host Resurrection Christian and will be looking for another win in that game. Stat leaders for Sterling are Karsyn Tonche with 10 blocks, 13 aces, 104 digs, 146 kills, and 132 receptions, Bailey Jackson with 8 blocks and 29 kills, Rylie Kaiser with 7 blocks, Kenzie Rubottom with 10 aces, 129 digs, 13 assists, 113 kills and 127 receptions, Berkley Gardiner with 9 aces and 258 assists, Elliana Pelton with 86 digs, Sydney Baseggio with 14 assists, and Bailey Ferguson with 91 receptions.
Eaton
The Reds are 9-2 overall on the season after their recent wins over Sterling 3-2, Timnath 3-2 and Roosevelt 3-0. Eaton will now take some time off and will get the second half of their season rolling when they resume games on 9/29 against Resurrection Christian. Stat leaders for Eaton are Ashby Breinig with 10 blocks, Cecilia Reynolds with 8 blocks, Skyelyn Lefever with 6 blocks, 20 aces, 232 assists and 56 kills, Mia Martinez with 19 aces, 87 digs, and 98 receptions, Katie St Jean with 19 aces, 149 digs, 40 assists, and 185 receptions, Anika Pearson with 106 digs, 79 kills and 129 receptions, Aspen Lane with 39 assists, and Maylea Maske with 79 kills.
Aspen
Aspen is currently 7-1 overall on the season after beating Roaring Fork 3-0 , D’Evelyn 2-1, Bennett 2-0, and Battle Mountain 2-0, but falling to Battle Mountain 0-2. The Skiers are 3-0 in league play and 1st in the Western Slope League. Aspen will be looking to keep adding wins to their record as they travel to Middle Park to end the week on 9/19. Next week the team will host league opponent Basalt on 9/22. Stat leaders for the Skiers are Andrea Lee with 7 blocks and 51 kills, Suki Manuel with 6 blocks, Hannah Lee with 4 blocks, Belle Sinclair with 27 aces, 63 digs, and 93 assists, Autumn Sherwin with 13 aces and 76 receptions, Elena Creamer with 11 aces, 95 digs, 25 assists, and 142 receptions, Ava Braley with 55 digs and 67 assists, and Mary Morse with 44 kills and 60 receptions.
Windsor Charter Academy
Windsor Charter Academy is currently 10-2 overall on the season after falling to Stargate School 2-3, and beating Strasburg 3-0. The Firebirds will be looking to add another win to their record next week as they take on Brush on 9/22. Forge Christian
The Fury are 4-4 overall on the season with recent wins over Platte Valley 3-1 and Flatirons Academy 3-0. This weekend, Forge Christian will play in tournament play and will take on Weld Central, Jefferson Academy and Prospect Ridge Academy on 9/19. Next week, the Fury will take on The Village on 9/22 and Stargate School in a league game on 9/24. Jefferson Academy
Jefferson Academy is currently 9-1 on the season after beating Weld Central last week 3-1 and Kent Denver last night 3-2. The Jaguars will be looking to get more wins added to their record to end the week and will take on Prospect Ridge Academy, Forge Christian and Weld Central in tournament play on 9/19. Next week, the team will take on Denver Christian on the road on 9/24. Berthoud
Berthoud was able to beat Severance 3-0 and Erie 3-1 last week but fell to Sterling this week 3-1. The team is now 8-3 overall on the season before they end the week taking on Regis Groff on 9/19. Next week the Spartans will host Standley Lake on 9/22 and then they will travel to Northfield on 9/24. Stat leaders for the Spartans are Addison Jones with 44 blocks, 19 aces, and 113 kills, Libby Wilson with 21 blocks, 26 aces, 83 digs, and 408 assists, Lucy Kirklin with 20 blocks, Whitney Barmes with 20 aces, 74 digs, and 101 receptions, Sasha Carter with 131 digs, 19 assists, 81 kills and 164 receptions, Avery Tychsen with 19 assists and 118 kills, and Amelia Major with 117 receptions.
Alamosa
Alamosa is currently 6-4 overall on the season, 1-0 in league play and are sitting in the 2nd place spot in the Intermountain League. Last week, the Mean Moose lost to Garden City 1-2 and Holy Family 0-2 but was able to beat Middle Park 2-0 and Loveland 2-0. To wrap up this week, Alamosa will play Durango and The Village on 9/19. Leading the stat board for the Mean Moose are Brooklyn Schrader with 11 blocks and 58 kills, Brynley Brown with 8 blocks and 77 kills, Kamryn Moeller with 5 blocks and 17 aces, Addison Rice with 26 aces, 151 digs, 19 assists, and 165 receptions, Ashlyn Rice with 17 aces, 96 digs, and 227 assists, Leela Gutierrez with 123 digs, 53 kills and 185 receptions, and Egypt Holman with 10 assists.
Platte Valley
Platte Valley is currently 7-4 overall on the season after losing to Forge Christian 1-3, and beating Yuma 3-1. Next week the Broncos will take on University on the road on 9/22 and then they will host Fort Morgan on 9/24. Stat leaders for the Broncos are Bryla Bunting with 29 blocks and 21 aces, Kennedi Nelson with 15 blocks and 78 kills, Talea Huerta with 11 blocks, 18 aces, 2 assists, and 87 kills, Madi Hunt with 32 aces, 90 digs, and 146 receptions, Delaney Uyemura with 181 digs, 10 assists and 261 receptions, Clara Ochsner with 105 digs and 375 assists, Paisley Nelson with 85 kills and Emery Martinez with 72 receptions.
Stargate School
Stargate school was able to get a win last week over Windsor Charter Academy 3-2. This week, the team lost to Resurrection Christian 0-3 to put the team at4-2 overall on the season. This weekend the Eagles will play in tournament play and take on The Academy, St. Mary’s Academy, and Elizabeth. Next week, the team will host Flatirons Academy on 9/22 and Forge Christian on 9/24. Stat leaders for the team are Kathleen Schoonveld with 6 blocks, Addie Pollard with 6 blocks, 16 aces, and 45 kills, Scotlyn Mackintosh with 5 blocks, Reese White with 18 aces, 53 digs, and 145 assists, Autumn Kasten with 10 aces and 33 kills, Maci Lamar with 51 digs, 12 assists, and 94 receptions, and Ellie Romary with 33 digs, 3 assists, 39 kills and 51 receptions.
Prospect Ridge Academy
The Miners are 6-2 overall on the season after getting wins over Brush, Arrupe Jesuit, and Highland 2-0 and falling to Evergreen 1-2. Prospect Ridge will look to keep adding wins to their record to end the week as they play in tournament play on 9/19 against Jefferson Academy, Weld Central and Forge Christian. Next week, the team will host Peak to Peak on 9/22 and St Mary’s Academy on 0/24 in league games. Leading the teams stat board are Molly McLemore with 16 blocks and 1 assist, Alessandra Erramoispe with 10 blocks and 24 kills, Ceira Trinta with 3 blocks, 30 kills and 40 receptions, Brianna Bransom with 14 aces, 22 digs, 39 kills and 25 receptions, Delaney Ash with 13 aces and 109 assists, Genevieve Forsman with 8 aces, 74 digs, 15 assists, and 32 receptions, and Corina Teufel with 24 digs.
Elizabeth
Elizabeth rounds out the top 16 teams in the CHSAA Rankings with a 7-3 overall record, a 0-1 league record and they hold the 5th place spot in the Continental league. Last week the Cardinals got the win over STEMSHR 3-0 but this week they fell to TCA 0-3 before beating Mesa Ridge 3-1. To end the week, the team will be looking to add a few more wins to their record as they play in tournament play against Fort Lupton, St. Mary’s Academy, The Academy and Stargate School. Next week, the Cardinals will play a league game against Douglas County on 9/22 on the road and at home on 9/24 against Highlands Ranch.
