Class 3A Softball Weekly Review and Preview

The softball season is now on the downhill side and teams are finding their grooves and taking their places in the rankings. This week we look at the top 16 teams in the CHSAA Rankings.
D’Evelyn
D’Evelyn remains at the top of the CHSAA Rankings with a12-3 overall record, a 6-0 league record, and the team is holding the number 1 spot in the Jeffco League. In the last few days of play, the Jaguars lost to Eaton 1-13, but then was able to find a little fire and beat Dakota Ridge 13-2, Golden 15-0, Wheat Ridge 14-0 and Pomona 15-0. The team will be looking to maintain their current 4 game winning streak and will end the week but taking on league opponents Conifer on 9/24 and Bear Creek 9/26. Next week, the team will face Green Mountain on the road on 9/28. Stat leaders for the Jaguars are Myla Seda with 7 home runs, a 2.41 ERA, and 36 RBI, Hallie Book with 5 home runs and a 6.79 ERA, Macie Allen with 4 home runs, 7 stolen bases, 27 hits and 26 RBI, Claudia Harris with 14 stolen bases, a 7.00 ERA, 26 runs and 26 hits, Lyla Nagy with 12 stolen bases and 29 runs, and Myla Vigil with 26 runs, 26 hits and 26 RBI.
Brush
The Beetdiggers currently hold the number two spot in the CHSAA Rankings and in the Patriot Plains league with a 13-4 overall record and a 4-1 league record. In the last week of play, Brush was able to get the win over Sterling 10-4 but fell to Strasburg 13-16. Yesterday, the Beetdiggers beat league opponent Valley 12-4. Tomorrow, Brush will wrap up this week of play by traveling to Platte Valley on 9/24, then on 9/29 they will host Weld Central. Leading Brush on the stat board are Haedynn Epple with 2 home runs, 9 stolen bases, 17 runs, 22 hits, and 22 RBI, Tatim Chard with 2 home runs and 13 RBI, Gracie Martinez with 1 home run, 8 stolen bases, and 19 hits, Addy Neal with 11 stolen bases, 23 runs, and 22 hits, Isabella Mesch with a 2.62 ERA and 16 RBI, Elizabeth Peckham with a 3.07 ERA, Emry Chard with a 4.52 ERA, and Izabella Talmich with 15 runs.
Berthoud
In the last week of play, Berthoud lost to Wellington 9-11, beat Thompson Valley 14-8 and University 11-1 to put the team at 13-5 overall, 1-3 in league play and in 4th in the Patriot Peaks league. With only a handful of games left on the schedule, the team will be looking to add more wins to their record as they take on Lyons to end this week on 9/24, then next week they will play Eaton on 9/29. Stat leaders for the Spartans are Carys McGuinn with 3 home runs and 23 RBI, Alana Lukensow with 3 home runs, 8 stolen bases, 28 runs, 27 hits, and 20 RBI, Camryn Olivas with 2 home runs, 20 runs, 30 hits and 31 RBI, Kiley Brinkman with 16 stolen bases, 26 runs, and 31 hits, Saray May-Lemonds with 5 stolen bases, Addi Kisselbach with a 2.60 ERA, and Madi Giera with a 4.33 ERA.
Strasburg
Strasburg is 12-5 overall on the season with a 5-1 league record and are 1st in the Patriot Plains league. The Indians were able to get wins over Valley 16-3, Brush 16-13 and Weld Central 18-2 last week and started this week off with a 15-2 win over Platte Valley. Strasburg will be looking to add another league win to end the week and will host Sterling on 9/29. Next week the team will rematch Valley on 10/1. Stat leaders for the Indians are Addi Kent with 5 home runs, 16 stolen bases, 32 runs, 41 hits, and 32 RBI, Phebe Johnson with 4 home runs, 9 stolen bases, a 7.54 ERA, 25 hits and 23 RBI, Madi Olsen with 3 home runs and 24 runs, Calleygh Hougland with 12 stolen bases, Taylor Bequette with a 6.30 ERA, Macy Meyer with a 6.49 ERA, Wynne Winer with 29 runs, and Morgan Sharff with 23 hits and 21 RBI.
University
The Bulldogs are currently 13-5 overall on the season, 1-3 in league play, and 5th in the Patriot Peaks league. Last week, University lost to Wellington 4-5 but was able to get wins over Lyons 8-6 and Timnath 13-3. This week, the team took on Berthoud and lost 1-11. The Bulldogs will take on league opponent Eaton tomorrow and then will end the week on the road playing Resurrection Christian on 9/29. Stat leaders for University are Kenny Peconi with 3 home runs, Kamzee Kern with 3 home runs, 20 runs, 19 hits and 20 RBI, Olivia Williams with 2 home runs, Emma Zacheis with 11 stolen bases and 19 runs, Kenzie Wyatt with 4 stolen bases, 20 runs, 25 hits and 17 RBI, Lucia Libretti with 4 stolen bases, Lily Marquez with a 4.44 ERA, Aubrey Luera-Smith with a 5.06 ERA, Hannah Ramseier with a 5.16 ERA, and Bergen Duarte with 18 hits and 21 RBI.
Lyons
The Lions hit a bit of a losing streak, falling to Wellington 8-10, Eaton 4-6, and University 6-8, but was able to break the bad streak this week by beating Woodland Park 15-4. The team is now 10-3 overall on the season with a 1-3 league record and are 3rd in the Patriot Peaks league. Lyons will be looking to add another win to their record today at they take on Severance and then they will wrap up the week playing Berthoud on 9/24, and then next week they will take on Silver Creek on 9/28 and Wellington on 9/29. Stat leaders for the Lions are Dahlia Oviatt with 4 home runs, 8 stolen bases, 23 runs, 22 hits, and 24 RBI, Ava Vasquez with 4 home runs, 10 stolen bases, 25 runs, 22 hits and 21 RBI, Greta Hildebrand with 4 home runs and 22 RBI, Ella Martinez with 11 stolen bases, Gretta Wynja with a 1.05 ERA and 23 hits, and Emerson Riley with 26 runs.
The Classical Academy
The Classical Academy is 9-4 overall on the season with a 1-1 league record and are 3rd in the Continental league. The Titans lost last week to Elizabeth 4-8 and to Cheyenne Mountain 3-13 but was able to get wins over Highlands Ranch 12-7 and Rampart 13-1. Tonight the Titans will take on Douglas County, and then will end the week by facing Heritage on 9/24, and Elizabeth on 9/25. Next week, the team will take on Highlands Ranch on 9/28 and Heritage on 9/30. Stat leaders for TCA are Basil Murphy with 1 home run and 3.13 ERA, Ava Fluegge with 1 home run, 3.12 ERA, 20 hits and 19 RBI, Carina Passarelli with 8 stolen bases, 18 hits and 12 RBI, Ada Wilson with 7 stolen bases, 3.68 ERA, and 17 runs, Rilee Sanson with 6 stolen bases and 16 runs, and Taytum Kimbro with 20 runs, 25 hits, and 19 RBI.
Wellington
Last week, Wellington was able to beat both of their opponents, University 5-4 and Berthoud 11-9. This week, the Eagles lost to Eaton 0-10to out the team at 11-7 overall on the season, 4-1 in league play and 2nd in the Patriot Peaks league. To wrap up this week, Wellington will travel to Lyons on 9/29. The team will then take the start of next week to get ready for University on 10/1. Stat leaders for the team are Reganne Johnson with 5 home runs, 7 stolen bases, 34 hits, and 29 RBI, Audrey Larson with 4 home runs and 21 RBI, Camryn Strain with 3 home runs and 26 runs, Charley Somday with 22 stolen bases. 23 runs, and 30 hits, Kiley Newberry with 12 stolen bases, London Morgan with a 6.86 ERA, and Scarlet McGuire with 28 runs, 31 hits and 20 RBI.
Lamar
The Thunder are currently 10-3 overall on the season, 1-0 in league play, 2nd in the Tri-Peaks league and after beating Limon 20-6 and Rocky Ford 8- 2, the team is currently on a 10 game winning streak. To end this week, the team will travel to La Junta to play the Tigers on 9/24 and then they will host Florence on 9/26. Next week, the Thunder will travel to Guymon on 9/28. Stat leaders for Lamar are Daisy Medina with 3 home runs and 19 RBI, Sierra Esquibel with 1 home run and 22 hits, Carlin Weber with 1 home run, a 3.67 ERA, 24 hits and 18 RBI, Yahirett Roman with 4 stolen bases, Maritza Gonzalez with 3 stolen bases Jayla Kirkland with 2 stolen bases, Alexus Campbell with 18 runs and 16 hits, Braelinn Penaflor with 13 runs and 12 RBI, and Natalie Aguilar with 17 hits.
Elizabeth
Rounding out the top 10 in the CHSAA Rankings, Elizabeth is 11-6 overall, 4-0 in league play and are currently 1st in the Continental league. Last week, the Cardinals beat TCA 8-4, Heritage 16-9, Douglas County 5-3 and Mead 15-6. This week, the team got the win over Highlands Ranch 12-0. To end this week, Elizabeth will host a rematch against TCA on 9/25 where they will be looking to repeat the win. Next week, they will host a rematch against Heritage on 9/28and then go on the road for a rematch against Douglas County on 9/30. Leading the Cardinals stat board are Allie Dey with 12 home runs, 6 stolen bases, 31 runs, 33 hits and 39 RBI, Paizley Sovine with 1 home run, Ashlyn Chaney with 1 home run, Larissa Wesbrook with 8 stolen bases, 20 runs and 17 RBI, Charli Kugler with 6 stolen bases, a 6.18 ERA, and 24 hits, Grace Carlson with a 9.93 ERA, 25 hits and 14 RBI, Kaylee Hughes with a 14.00 ERA, and Makayla Wilson with 21 runs.
Forge Christian
The Fury are 14-2 overall on the season with a 4-0 league record, and are 1st in the Pioneer league. The team is currently on an 8 game winning streak after beating Jefferson 18-0, Jefferson Academy 14-0, Pomona 14-4 and Fort Lupton 11-1. Forge Christian will host Englewood tomorrow in a league game to end the week. Next week, the team will take on league opponent Alameda on 9.19 on the road and then at home on 9/30. Stat leaders for the Fury are Kadence Miller with 1 home run, Julianna Alfaro with 1 home run, 7 stolen bases, a 2.06 ERA, 27 runs, 37 hits and 29 RBI, Maxine Rossi with 11 stolen bases, 29 runs, 26 hots and 23 RBI, Lauren Rivera with 7 stolen bases, and Honor Kuyper with 25 runs, 25 hits and 22 RBI.
Cedaredge
The Bruins were able to beat their league opponent Meeker in a double header last week 16-0 and 23-1. The team is now 10-4 overall on the season with a 4-1 league record and are 2nd in the Western Slope South league. They will be looking to add more wins to their record as they wrap up this week in Delta on 9/24 and then start next week off in Gunnison on 9/29. Stat leaders for Cedaredge are Meri Hollembeak with 7 home runs, 5 stolen bases, 26 runs, 28 hits and 25 RBI, Tia homedew with 2 home runs, a 2.94 ERA, 21 runs, and 20 RBI, Sunshine DeHerrera with 2 stolen bases, Kiera Stroh with 2 stolen bases, Kimbry Hebert with 22 runs, 25 hits and 18 RBI, and Mia Gallegos with 24 hits.
Delta
Delta is currently 10-7 overall on the season with a 3-2 league record and are 4th in the Western Slope South league. The Panthers were able to get wins over Gunnison 18-6 and Montezuma-Cortez 14-13 last week and will be looking to have another win this week as they take on Cedaredge on 9/24. Next week, the team will play Rifle on 9/29. Leading the Panther stat board are Sophia Siennicki with 6 home runs, 25 runs, 22 hits and 25 RBI, Jazlyn Naranjo with 2 home runs, 14 stolen bases, 23 runs, 26 hits and 20 RBI, Jaidyn Robinson with 2 home runs, 23 hits and 18 RBI, Brooklyn Carlquist with 15 stolen bases, 24 runs, Hailey Thomas with 9 stolen bases, and Lily Gallegos with a 4.57 ERA.
Valley
Valley is 12-5 overall on the season, 2-3 in league play and is 3rd in the Patriot Plains league. In the last week of play, the Vikings lost to Strasburg 3-16, beat Weld Central 9-12 and lost to Brush 4-12. To wrap up this week, Valley will travel to Sterling to play the Tigers on 9/24 and then they will host Northridge on 9/26. Next week, Valley goes back on the road to play Platte Valley on 9/29. Stat leaders for the Vikings are Danica Flesner with 4 home runs, a 3.18 ERA, 28 runs, 44 hits, and 39 RBI, Addison Dudley with 1 home run, Ashlyn Blackwell with 1 home run, 12 stolen bases, Aubree Montoya with 16 stolen bases, 31 runs, 23 hits and 19 RBI, RyAnn Litfin with 13 stolen bases, 26 runs, and 23 hits, and Adri O’Dell with 19 RBI.
Resurrection Christian
The Cougars beat Yuma last week 10-2 but lost to Eaton 0-12. Resurrection Christian is currently 9-6 overall on the season with a 0-2 league record and are sitting 6th in the Patriot Peaks league. This week, the team will play a double header on 9/24 against Greely Central and then next week, games will kick off for the team against University on 9/29. Leading the Cougars stat board are Portia Hattig with 1 home run, 5 stolen bases, 26 runs, and 23 hits, Kylee Kramer with 1 home run, Taylor Francis with 15 stolen bases, 26 runs, 27 hits, and 21 RBI, Hannah Nicholson with 4 stolen bases and 13 RBI, Jailah Hamilton with a 6.05 ERA, and Brynne Murawski with 18 runs, 19 hits and 19 RBI.
Rocky Ford
The Meloneers are 9-7 overall on the season, 1-1 in league play, sit 4th in the Tri-Peaks league and round out the top 16 teams in the CHSAA Rankings. Last week, Rocky Ford beat Alamosa 15-12 but lost to Lamar this week 2-8. The team will be looking to add a few more wins to their record and will take on Southeast Colorado tomorrow and Rampart on 9/26 to end the week. Next week, they will host Florence on 9/29. Stat leaders for the team are Kendra Rodriguez with 1 home run, 15 runs, and 14 hits, Annesyiah Camacho with 1 home run and 17 hits, Kassidy Kurtz with 1 home run, 14 stolen bases, 18 runs, 16 hits, and 17 RBI, Laynee Mason with 16 stolen bases, a 5.29 ERA, and 19 runs, Sophia Lovato with 12 stolen bases, Alysia Marquez with a 5.29 ERA and 11 RBI and Ava Chavez with 10 RBI.
