Class 3A Softball Weekly Review and Preview

We are in the final week of the regular season and teams are fighting for playoff position. This week we look at the teams sitting 20-34 in the CHSAA Rankings to see who will see the postseason and who will need to fight and hope to make it.

The Academy
The Academy is currently sitting at number 20 in the CHSAA rankings with a 14-8 overall record, a 6-1 league record and they are currently 2nd in the Pioneer league. In the last week of games, the Wildcats were able to beat Jefferson Academy 15-0, Peak to Peak 20-16, Kenney 17-0 and Fort Lupton 13 -9. To end the regular season, the team will play Forge Christian tomorrow at home and will be looking to end with a 13 game winning streak. Stat leaders for The Academy are Keara Pogue with 9 home runs, 29 runs, 31 hits, and 37 RBI Finley Stark with 4 home runs, 16 stolen bases, 34 runs, 26 hits, and 31 RBI, Jalyn Newburn with 15 stolen bases, Tessa York with 10 stolen bases, Aubree D’ambrosio with a 4.24 ERA, Leyla Martin with a 6.64 ERA, Adrina Arenas with 31 runs, Harper Scot with 24 his and Ali Velasquez with 19 RBI.
Basalt
The Longhorns started the month off with an 8 inning win over Eagle Valley 9-8, and a win over Aspen 18-0. The team is now 12-6 on the season, 7-1 in league play and are 1st in the Western Slope North league. To end the season, Basalt will play Moffat County in a double header tomorrow and will be looking to add two more wins to their current 6 game winning streak. Leading the Basalt stat board are Hadley Ivy with 6 home runs, a 4.88 ERA, 26 hits, and 32 RBI, Liliana Santini with 2 home runs, 12 stolen bases, and 23 RBI, Elsie Mile with 2 home runs, 23 stolen bases, 38 runs, 30 hits, and 32 RBI, Collins Piffer with 11 stolen bases, and Sophia Sandoval with 32 runs.
Lewis-Palmer
Lewis- Palmer is currently 8-12 overall on the season, 2-7 in league play, hold the 5th place spot in the Pikes Peak league and are 22nd in the CHSAA rankings. Last week, the team beat Cheyenne Mountain 9-7 but lost to Lutheran this week 0-12. To wrap up the end of the regular season, the Rangers will play Air Academy on 10/7, Fountain-Fort Carson on 10/9 and Liberty on 10/10. Stat leaders for the team are Nicole McClintock with 4 home runs, 10 stolen bases 25 runs, 31 hits, and 25 RBI, Tillie Miller with 3 home runs and an 11.30 ERA, Abby Schneider with 1 home run, 13 stolen bases, 27 runs, 28 hits, and 22 RBI, Elle Adams with 7 stolen bases and 22 runs, Leia Bitter with a 15.08 ERA, Abby Schneider with 27 runs, 28 hits, and 22 RBI and Abby McClintock with 21 RBI.
Platte Valley
Platte Valley is currently on a 6 game losing streak after falling to Valley 10-14, Weld Central 2-15 and Sterling 3-17. The Broncos are now 8-13 overall, 1-7 in league play and are 6th in the Patriot Plains league. To end the regular season, the team will be looking for a win or two as they take on Strasburg on 10/8 and Sterling on 10/10. Stat leaders for the Broncos are Landree Edstrom with 2 home runs, 9 stolen bases, 24 runs, 21 hits and 18 RBI, Alyssa Kendrick with 1 home run, a 5.94 ERA, 19 runs, and 20 hits, Haylee Bauer with 4 stolen bases, 25 hits, and 19 RBI, Kyra Jessop with 4 stolen bases and 12 RBI, and Izzy Roth with 18 runs.
Southeast Colorado
Southeast Colorado Angels are 5-10 overall on the season with a 1-3 league record, and are 6th in the Tri-Peaks league. In the last week of play, the team lost to Florence 0-12, beat Woodland Park 5-12 and lost to Lamar 1-3. To wrap up the regular season, the Angels will face Alamosa in a double header on 10/8 and then they will host Rocky Ford on 10/9. Leading the Southeast Colorado teams stat board are Laila Garcia with 1 home run, 5 stolen bases, 13 runs, 16 hits and 10 RBI, Emma Wollert with 1 home run, 14 runs, 15 hits and 10 RBI, Savanna Brown with 6 stolen bases, Lacie Kraft with 5 stolen bases, Taylor Reeder with a 6.26 ERA, Kennedy Gyurman with a 9.20 ERA, 12 hits, and 15 hits, and Bailey Sierra with 12 RBI.
Weld Central
Sitting at 25 in the CHSAA Rankings, Weld Central is 9-12 overall on the season with a 3-5 league record and a 4th place spot in the Patriot Plains league. Last week, the team lost to Brush 0-10 but was able to beat Platte Valley 15-2. Tonight the Rebels will take on Valley on the road and then they will end the regular season on the road against Sterling on 10/8. Stat leaders for the Rebels are Lily Reh with 2 home runs, 7 stolen bases, 24 runs, and 25 hits, Ali Weber with 10 stolen bases, 20 runs, 23 hits, and 13 RBI, Jennisa Hale with 9 stolen bases, a 6.50 ERA, 18 runs, 29 hits and 21 RBI, and Lianna Burger with 12 RBI.
Florence
The Huskies are currently 11-10 overall on the season, 3-3 in league play and are 3rd in the Tri-Peaks league. In the last week of play, Florence fell to Rocky Ford 6-16, beat Southeast Colorado 12-0 and Burlington 5-2, but lost the second game with Burlington 5-8. In the final game of the regular season, the team will play Pueblo Centennial on 10/7. Leading the team on the stat board are Addison Dalton with 2 home runs, a 3.82 ERA, 40 hits, and 25 RBI, Lilly Roe with 17 stolen bases, 29 runs, and 32 hits, Makala Miller with 17 stolen bases and 26 runs, Kendra Steffenson with 9 stolen bases, 24 runs and 18 RBI, and Brooklyn DeSalvo with 28 hits and 29 RBI.
Alamosa
Alamosa currently sits at 26 in the CHSAA rankings with an 8-10 overall record, a 2-3 league record and are 5th in the Tri-Peaks league. The Mean Moose lost their last league game last week against Lamar 0-9 and will be looking for redemption this week as they wrap up the end of the regular season with a double header league game against Southeast Colorado on 10/8. Leading Alamosa on the stat board are Brooklyn Boehm with 1 home run, 1 stolen base, 2 runs, 2 hits and 3 RBI, Anaya Baroz with 1 stolen base, Payton Stickler with 1 stolen base, 3 runs, 4 hits, and 3 RBI, Jazlin Garcia with a 4.08 ERA, Shaya Martin with 3 runs and 6 hits, and Sydney Haslett with 2 RBI.
Burlington
The Cougars are 12-9 overall on the season, 4-2 in league play and are 3rd in the Lower Platte League. Over the last week of play, Burlington fell to Yuma in a double header 1-7 and 1-11, lost to Florence 2-5, but was able to take the second game from Florence 8-5 and beat Holyoke 13-1. The regular season will end for Burlington on 10/8 in a double header against Wray. Leading Burlington’s stat board are Paige Bessire with 1 home run, 23 stolen bases, a 5.39 ERA, 35 runs, 23 hits, and 21 RBI, Braelyn Weissharr with 21 stolen bases, 25 runs, 15 hits and 16 RBI, Sayler Wall with 16 stolen bases, Zoey McManigal with 20 runs, Francisca Orrantia with 11 hits and Emberly Thew with 14 RBI.
Fort Lupton
The Blue Devils ended their regular season yesterday with a loss to The Academy 9-13 after beating Jefferson 24-2 and Jefferson Academy 30-28 last week. Fort Lupton ends their regular season 12-9 overall, 5-2 in league play, 3rd in the Pioneer league, and they are currently 29th in the CHSAA rankings. Now the team waits to see their final position as they head into the postseason. Stat leaders for the Blue Devils are Alyssa Ornales with 3 home runs, Jaylen Becerra with 1 home run, 22 stolen bases, and 31 runs, Catalena Salazar with 1 home run, a 6.75 ERA, 25 runs, 23 hits, and 22 RBI, Neeko Bravo with 20 stolen bases, a 6.87 ERA, and 29 runs, Zaira Vigil with 13 stolen bases and 22 hits, and Eliria Barron with 23 RBI.
Wray
Wray currently sits at number 30 in the CHSAA Rankings with an 11-10 overall record, a 5-1 league record and are 1st in the Lower Platte league. In the last week of play, the Eagles beat the Dragons in a double header 22-1 and 24-6. To end the regular season, the team will face Burlington in a double header on 10/8. Stat leaders for Wray are Taige Chappel with 1 home run, 14 stolen bases, 25 hits, and 37 RBI, Jullian Ridnour with 1 home run, 11 stolen bases, Danyelle Davis with 1 home run, a 4.04 ERA, 36 runs, 39 hits, and 27 RBI, Lauren Gdanitz with 17 stolen bases and 31 runs, Jillian Ridnour with 11 stolen bases, Clara Oestman with 30 runs, and Zoey Merritt with 25 hits and 22 RBI.
Mountain View
The Lions are 8-13-1 on the season, 2-7 in league play, and are 8th in the Northern league. After falling to Roosevelt 0-16, Greely West 1-12 and Severance 0-17, the team is 31 in the CHSAA Rankings. The last game of the regular season for the team will be against Timnath where the team will be looking for a win to guarantee a spot in the postseason. Stat leaders for Mountain View are Izabella Atwood with 12 stolen bases, 28 runs, and 25 hits, Emerson Lamar with 8 stolen bases, 27 runs, and 23 hits, Aubriana Sirio with 6 stolen bases and 17 RBI, Zylla Rodriguez with 22 runs, 20 hits and 27 RBI, and Krista Herley with 15 RBI.
Yuma
Yuma currently would be the last team to make the postseason if no changes were made, sitting 32 in the CHSAA Rankings. The Outlaws are 9-14 overall on the season with a 6-2 league record, and are 2nd in the Lower Platte league. The team ended the regular season with two wins over Burlington 7-1 and 11-1, a loss to Limon 5-8 in 8 innings, and a win over limon 14-11. Now the team will wait to see if they make the final cut for the playoffs. Stat leaders for Yuma are Daphani Allen with 1 home run, 38 stolen bases, 34 runs, 39 hits and 22 RBI, Autumn Magard with 1 home run, 26 hits, and 24 RBI, Tehya McDonald with 1 home run and 24 RBI. Keylen Quezava with 23 stolen bases and 25 runs, Layla Glanz with 20 stolen bases, London Kind with a 3.99 ERA, Sadee Mosenteen with 19 runs, and Addie Noble with 23 hits.
Woodland Park
Woodland Park is currently sitting outside of the playoff bubble at 33 in the CHSAA Rankings with an 8-13 overall record, a 0-5 league record and are 7th in the Tri-Peaks league. In the month of October, the team lost to Lamar 2-20, Southeast Colorado 5-12, and Coronado 1-12. The team will be looking to get a couple of wins to end the regular season and sneak into the playoffs. They will take on Rocky Ford on 10/8 and Pueblo East on 10/9. Stat leaders for the Panthers are Chrstine Renteria with 6 home runs, 22 stolen bases, 29 runs, 21 hits and 21 RBI, Olivia Phillips with 1 home run, Daisy Renteria with 17 stolen bases, an 8.09 ERA, 19 runs, and 20 hits, Tyler Difabio with 15 stolen bases, 23 runs and 25 hits, Austin Difabio with 17 RBI and Mollie Miller with 15 RBI.
Peak to Peak
Peak to Peak is 5-14 overall on the season with a 4-4 league record, are 4th in the Pioneer league, and are 34th in the CHSAA Rankings, outside of the playoff bubble. The team started the month with a loss to Forge Christian 1-17, a win over Jefferson 20-2 and a Forfeit loss to Resurrection Christian. The team will end the regular season with a league tournament on 10/8 and Westminster on 10/9. They will be looking for some wins to squeeze into the postseason. Stat leaders for the Pumas are Margot McCune with 11 stolen bases, a 12.92 ERA, and 18 hits, Evelyn Kraft with 10 stolen bases, 19 runs, and 16 RBI, Elyssa Nerstad with 8 stolen bases and 21 runs, Ava Winnicki with 18 runs, Grace Trasky with 24 hits, and 17 RBI, and Lady Fitch with 16 hits.
