Review of Quarterfinals/Semifinals Predictions
Class 2A
Class 2A went as planned with no upsets and only 1 really close game. The one close game was a 14 point victory by Bayfield over Brush. I did think that Sterling was going to play a better game against La Junta but La Junta came out on fire and blew the game open. Other than that I was pretty close with the scores between Platte Valley vs Strasburg and Kent Denver vs Eaton. It gets much harder to choose games this next round so I will take a 4 out of 4 for the last round. For my predictions for the entire playoff bracket I have only missed 1 game so far and that was Strasburg upsetting Alameda, I am at 91.6%.
Class 1A
The tops seeds all were winners this past weekend and there was only one close game. The close game and I did call it would be was between Crowley County and Limon, Crowley County won 14 to 13. Other than that we had blowouts the rest of the games. Buena Vista won by 44, Paonia won by 40, and Resurrection Christian won by 42. The Resurrection Christian victory was the biggest surprise I thought Meeker was going to give them a better game and that didn’t happen. I was 4 for 4 this round. For my prediction for the entire bracket I am not doing as good in 1A as I am in 2A. I have missed 3 games which are Rye over Wiggins, Monte Vista over Limon, and Monte Vista over Crowley County. That puts me at 75% which is still not terrible.
Class 8-Man
Class 2A had the top four seeds all win and that really sets up a very interesting semifinals. I was nearly spot on will all my predicted scores and actually picked the correct score of the Sargent vs Springfield game, I had Sargent by 14 and they won 22 to 8. I was a little off on the Norwood vs Dove Creek game I thought it would be a little closer. I will take another perfect round and for the entire playoffs I am perfect. I am a perfect 12 out of 12 and put my perfect record on the line in the Semifinals.
Class 6-Man
All I can say is that experience pays off. We will have a rematch for the state championship from last year’s state championship. Arickaree/Woodlin pulled the upset of Kit Carson which I called and Eads pulled the upset over Fleming which was the shocker. I was 1 for 2 this round and for the entire bracket I am 4 out of 6 and picked the state championship wrong. Good luck to Arickaree/Woodlin and Eads in the State Championship.
