6man League Breakdown

6 Man League Breakdown

6 Man League Breakdowns

Central League

Most league races are well under way in 6 man and that is no exception to the Central League. Currently sitting in first place is Elbert at 2-0 in league and 2-2 overall.  Second place is Genoa-Hugo at 1-0 and 2-2, in third is Cripple Creek at 1-1 and 1-3 overall, and in fourth is Hanover at 1-2 and 1-3 overall.  I feel that Genoa-Hugo is the favorite right now they picked up a big top ten victory over Eads two weeks ago and have played the toughest schedule.  Elbert has also show they have improved and a big non-league game against Eads this week will tell us a lot.  The only league game this week is Genoa-Hugo traveling to Cripple Creek.  This is a monster game for both teams and is somewhat of a knockout game for Cripple Creek.  If Cripple Creek loses they will essentially be out for the league title and more than likely the playoffs.  Genoa-Hugo can still get in with a wild card berth and more than likely should win league.  I have Genoa-Hugo with a good 21 point victory.

East Central League

The East Central League race is shaping up to be a great one. There are 4 very solid teams; Hi Plains/Flagler, Stratton/Liberty, Arickaree/Woodlin, and Otis.  Otis has gotten off to the worst start of the four teams mentioned.  They started the season pretty good grabbing solid wins over Cheraw and Weldon Valley before losing to League opponent Hi-Plains/Flagler.  Otis has Hanover this weekend and should easily win that one and move to 3-2.  Hi-Plains/Flagler started with a tough loss to #6 Cheyenne Wells 60 to 34 before getting on a nice 3 game winning streak.  They face one of their toughest challenges this weekend.  They will travel for a non-league game against #1 Kit Carson.  This will be a good measuring stick for their team.  The only league game this week is a dandy.  #7 Arickaree/Woodlin makes the trek to #2 Stratton/Liberty.  This is a huge game for the teams in terms of league and of course seeding for the RPI as I expect both to make the playoffs.  Arickaree/Woodlin is coming off a bye week and before that they were hammered in the second half losing to #3 Fleming.  The game was tied 14-14 at half before Fleming went on their run.  Arickaree/Woodlin struggled on defense stopping the run so they must improve there defesne if they want any chance at all at pulling the upset.  Stratton/Liberty has blown past every opponent this year breaking 40 points in every game.  Defensively they have allowed over 15 points once.  Last week they easily beat Idalia 63 to 12 and ran the ball at will racking up 267 yards rushing.  I think Stratton/Liberty win this game by 14.  This league should get 3 teams and maybe a fourth into the playoffs.

North League

The North League is crowded with 8 teams in the league. It’s one of the tougher leagues in 6 Man and most teams have already played 3 league games.  The early leaders are Fleming and Weldon Valley both sitting at 3-0 in league.  Second has two teams with one lose North Park 3-1 and Peetz 2-1.  I feel these are probably your top 4 teams overall as well in the league.  Briggsdale and maybe Pawnee might challenge down the road but have yet too.  On tap this weekend are 3 very good games.  Well kick off with Peetz at Briggsdale.  Peetz is 2-1 in league and 3-1 overall with their one loss to #8 North Park 60-56.  Peetz has proven this year they can score points breaking 50 points in every game including their loss.  Defensively might be where they need to improve giving up over 30 points twice this year.  Last week Peetz blasted Pawnee 59 to 14.  Briggsdale is on a two game losing streak and got blasted last week by #8 North Park 63 to 16.  Briggsdale had a hard time on defense giving up 192 yards passing and 313 yards rushing.  Briggsdale will need their defense to step up.  I have Peetz winning by 28 points.  #8 North Park travels to Pawnee.  Pawnee has played a very tough schedule.  They have faced #3 Fleming and #7 Arickaree/Woodlin.  Last week Pawnee was slammed by Peetz 59 to 14.  Pawnee has struggled on offense against the better teams in 6 Man.  They will need their offense to start scoring more points if they plan to upset North Park.  #8 North Park has won three straight games since their opening game loss to Fleming.  They have broken 50 points three times this year but defensively have allowed over 40 points twice which will need to be improved on.  This is a big game for North Park getting to 4-1 heading into their match with Weldon Valley which could lock up second place for them.  North Park should win this game by 14.  The last game is #3 Fleming at Weldon Valley.  Both teams are undefeated in league and this would give them a huge leg up in the race.  Weldon Valley has played all the bottom teams in league and now are opening up against the main players.  They have Fleming this week, then North Park, Pawnee, and Peetz to close it out.  This is a huge game for Weldon Valley and a win would be huge momentum heading into the final stretch.  For Fleming with a win will keep their one game led over North Park and Peetz and keeps them two in second.  Fleming still has to face Peetz so a loss here hurts them for later games.  Fleming has been dominate this year breaking 30 points every game.  I have Fleming winning this game by 24.  This league will get 3 maybe 4 teams into the playoffs.

Southeast League

The Southeast league race is a fun one to watch. There are 3 very solid teams and Walsh and Cheraw are also very competitive.  The three top teams are #1 Kit Carson, #6 Cheyenne Wells, and #9 Eads.  Kit Carson picked up a huge league win over Cheyenne Wells last week using a goal line stand to hold off Cheyenne Wells.  Eads blasted Branson/Kim to grab their second league win and now there a few huge game coming up for these three teams.  When Kit Carson plays Eads that will be for the league title for them and Eads will need to win that and beat Cheyenne Wells still.  All three teams have non-league games this week.  Kit Carson has the toughest game against #10 Hi Plains/Flagler but should still win, Eads hosts Elbert and should win, and Cheyenne Wells host Idalia and should also win.  The only league game is a good one as well.  Cheraw is 0-2 in league but grabbed some good momentum upsetting previously ranked Sierra Grande 40-39.  Walsh barely missed their upset losing to La Veta in a shootout but Walsh got hammered by Cheyenne Wells two weeks ago and now they must beat the bottom teams to have any chance at the playoffs.  This game is sort of a knockout game for both teams and the winner will have a solid chance at the playoffs.  I am going with Walsh by 21.  I have this league getting 3 and maybe four teams in.

Southwest League

This is a huge week for the southwest league. #5 La Veta travels to #4 Cotopaxi in the 6 Man game of the week.  La Veta is 3-0 on the year with one really solid win over Walsh 79 to 64.  They have broken the 70 point mark twice and all three games have broken 50.  Defensively they have allowed 60 points once and over 10 the other two times.  So defensively La Veta must improve there.  Two week La Veta hammered Manzanola 54 to 12 and had two weeks to prepare for Cotopaxi.  #4 Cotopaxi has blasted every team they have played breaking 47 points every game and not allowing over 15 points yet.  Cotopaxi also has not played any good competition yet.  This game will not give us a league winner but will set the table for who will finish 1st thru 3rd between La Veta, Cotopaxi, and Sierra Grande.  I have Cotopaxi as the small favorite and have them winning by 7.  This league will for sure get 3 teams in.  A fourth could sneak in but must win beat the lower teams.
