Week 7 Class 6 Man League Breakdown

Week 7 Class 6 man League Breakdown

Central

The Central league looks like it’s coming down to two teams. Genoa Hugo and Elbert both currently unbeaten in league play.  They won’t play each other till next week and that will be for the league championship.  Genoa Hugo will win this week and currently they are sitting #4 in the RPI and are pretty much a lock for the playoffs especially with only two weeks left in the 6 Man season.  Elbert is sitting in 21st and will need a few things to go their way to grab a playoff spot.  They will get a bump in their RPI win or lose this weekend when they play Hi-Plains who is 4-2.  Elbert will have their hand full against one of the better teams in the East Central league which is a very tough league.  Elbert might need the league crown to get in due to their lack of SOS.  They will have their chance next week to grab the league crown and a nice bump to their RPI, I am just not sure if it will be enough.  I believe these are the only two teams in the Central league with any shot at the playoffs.

Genoa-Hugo at Colorado D&B

RPI of Team in League: 4 Genoa Hugo .630, 21 Elbert .474, 24 Hanover .443, 26 Cripple Creek .405

East Central

Currently the East Central has all 5 of their teams into the playoffs which is surprising. Four of them I expect but Idalia who is 0-6 right now sits at 16.  Their opponents winning percentage is what makes the difference it’s currently .767 but their games have not been close.  I am not sure if Idalia will hold onto that 16th spot because Briggsdale is only .001 and Manzanola .005 are right behind them.  Arickaree/Woodlin host Idalia this weekend and this will be a good opportunity for Arickaree/Woodlin to grab a victory and fix their problems.  The big game is Stratton/Liberty at Otis.  Otis is looking for an upset and they will have their chance.  They currently are only 1 game behind Stratton/Liberty so a win tie them for second and then they would hope Stratton/Liberty could upset Hi-Plains.  But I don’t think Stratton/Liberty will let that happen and should win this game.  Stratton/Liberty is currently #2 in the RPI and are hoping to stay right there and also grab the league crown.  Otis is 12th in the RPI so they are closer to the bubble but will get good RPI games this week and to close out the year.  The East Central should get four teams into the playoffs and if Idalia could pull one victory they possibly could join the group.  They will have their chance against Cripple Creek and a loss to them next week could essentially eliminate them.

Stratton/Liberty at Otis                                                                 Idalia at Arickaree/Woodlin

RPI of Teams in League: 2 Stratton/Liberty .644, 9 Arickaree/Woodlin .584, 11 Hi-Plains .570, 12 Otis .529, 16 Idalia .500

North

The league crown will be decided this week for the North League. Fleming takes on Peetz and that will be for the league crown.  Fleming is a lock for the playoffs sitting #3 in the RPI but I am sure they want to be league champions.  Peetz is a little more on the bubble but their RPI will get a good boost this game.  They travel to Weldon Valley next week and that won’t do damage to their RPI just as long as they win.  Fleming I think will win but it will be a shootout but I am going with Fleming by 24.  Briggsdale should beat Longmont Christian but that game will not help Briggsdale out to much in terms of RPI.  Briggsdale is currently in 17th and are only .001 behind 16th.  A win will give a very small bump but their RPI bump will come next week against Pawnee.  North Park should also win this week when they travel to Prairie.  North Park is currently in 10th and are a little more secure.  They won’t get much help in terms of RPI the final two but should be high enough to get into the playoffs.  Another good game this week is Pawnee at Weldon Valley.  Weldon Valley is in 19th and desperately wants a win.  They need a few things to go their way.  They have two teams coming up that will improve their RPI with a win or loss so anything is possible for Weldon Valley.  A win in one of their final two games would give them a big boost.  I don’t see them winning this one though and have Pawnee winning by 21.  Pawnee is currently in 13th and still on the bubble.  Winning out should get Pawnee into the playoffs.  A loss would hurt them pretty bad to one of these last two teams.  I have Pawnee winning by 28.  Currently the North has 4 teams into the playoffs but I fully believe they will get a fifth team in.  Weldon Valley and Briggsdale will be fighting for that spot but it will be a fun race to watch.

Fleming at Peetz                                                                              Briggsdale at Longmont Christian

North Park at Prairie                                                                       Pawnee at Weldon Valley

RPI of Teams in League: 3 Fleming .634, 10 North Park .572, 13 Pawnee .507, 14 Peetz .502, 17 Briggsdale .499, 19 Weldon Valley .487,

Southeast

Currently the Southeast League has 4 teams in the top 16 right now. 3 of those 4 are basically locks for the playoffs are all three are under the top 10.  The league title is not yet decided and depending on what happens this week might not be decided till next week anyways.  All 6 teams realistically have a shot.  We will know more once the new RPI comes out for what happens to Walsh.  Walsh is currently in 23rd and will need a few things to go their way.  They won’t get to much help in terms of RPI this week but next week will when they play Kit Carson.  I am just not sure if it will be enough to make up the points.  They play Branson/Kim who is in their first year back at football.  They are sitting in 20th and for them to get into the playoffs it’s simple as winning out.  Their winning % is what is hurting them so winning these last two games should be enough to grab a playoff spot.  I just don’t think they have it this year and I am going with Walsh to win by 21.  A big game for both teams this week as well is Cheraw at Cheyenne Wells.  Cheraw forfeited last week to Genoa-Hugo but because of their SOS they are sitting in 15th place.  That RPI will rise again this week with a win or a loss but if Cheraw cannot win next week they could be in trouble.  Cheraw is in 15th and fighting for their lives.  Cheyenne Wells is having a great season and have two heart breaking games this year.  Against Kit Carson they failed to score on the goal line to lose and then last week against Stratton/Liberty they blew a 35 points lead and lost 49 to 41.  Cheyenne Wells will be looking to avenge that loss this week.  Cheyenne Wells is still in the hunt for the league crown and that fate will be decided this week.  If Eads beat Kit Carson then Cheyenne Wells must beat Eads to grab a share of the crown but.  Either way Cheyenne Wells will be in the playoffs they are sitting in 6th and will be a tough team to beat.  They should beat Cheraw this week and set up their huge game with Eads next week.  I am going with Cheyenne Wells by 28.  The biggest game on the docket in 6 man is Kit Carson traveling to Eads.  This could be for all the marbles.  If Kit Carson wins they are the league champions and possibly the #1 overall seed.  They are a lock for the playoffs but the league crown is important.  Eads wants the league crown as well and with a win could have a chance at it.  They are not out of the woods though even with a win as they still have to play Cheyenne Wells next week, which would be for the league title.  But first things first is Eads has to upset Kit Carson.  Eads is also a lock for the playoffs sitting at #8.  This will be a fun game to watch but I am going with Kit Carson by 14,  It will be interesting to see how many teams this league gets.  For sure they will get 3 but it will be interesting to see if a fourth can sneak in.

Cheraw at Cheyenne Wells                                                         Kit Carson at Eads

Walsh at Branson/Kim

RPI of Teams in League: 1 Kit Carson .650, 6 Cheyenne Wells .594, 8 Eads .585, 15 Cheraw .500, 20 Branson/Kim .475, 23 Walsh .470,

Southwest

The Southwest league won’t have their league Champion till next week but Cotopaxi is driving the bus right now. Currently two teams are sitting in the top 16 and they are La Veta and Cotopaxi.  Two other teams are fighting to get into the top 16.  Manzanola is sitting in 18th but has two games that won’t help their RPI to much unless they win them.  Even then they will hurt their OWP.  They will need some help to get into the playoffs but winning them will be the key right now.  Sierra Grande is the other and they won today already but that win does not do much for them.  It will give a slight boost in their WP but will continue to hurt the OWP which is the 3rd worst in the state.  Sierra Grande does have a chance though to grab a share of the league crown and of course a boost to their RPI.  They will play Cotopaxi next week so they still have a chance either way at the playoffs.  La Veta traveling to Mountain Valley is the only other league game and La Veta should easily win that game.

La Veta at Mountain Valley                                                          Aguilar at Sierra Grande
