Week 8 (Final Week) Class 6 man League Breakdown
We have made it to the final week of the 6 Man season. This is the final chance for teams to try and improve their RPI and also for some teams to win their league titles.
Central
The Central league title race comes down to this game. Elbert makes the trip to Genoa-Hugo. Both teams are coming into the game at 3-0 in league and both are trying to get into the playoffs. Elbert is 3-0 and 3-4 overall and currently sitting in 19th in the RPI so they are clearly in the race for the final wildcard spot. They are coming off a blowout loss to Hi-Plains last week so they must quickly rebound and try and pull off the upset. They will need to improve on stopping the pass and limit the turnover from their last game. Genoa-Hugo is 5-2 overall and 3-0 in league and sit at #5 in the RPI. They played a very tough schedule against 3 ranked teams and went 1-2 against them. They have won four straight games now and now want the league title. I see that Genoa-Hugo winning this game big and I am picking them to win by 35.

East Central
Early on it looked like Arickaree/Woodlin was on to have another amazing year but have lost 4 straight games and are on a huge slide. The biggest ding to their confidence was last week when Idalia beat them 55 to 47. Now Arickaree/Woodlin has to try and get this victory this week. They travel up the road to Otis this week. Arickaree/Woodlin is sitting in 13th right now and are right on the bubble of not making the playoffs. Otis also looking to rebound from getting shutout last week. They are sitting in 11th in the RPI and are also on the bubble. If Otis wins here they should be able to get in. I am going to go with Arickaree/Woodlin to win here and they are winning by 7. The East Central league has 3 teams on the bubble right now with the playoffs so it will be interesting to see who makes it. The big game of the week is Hi-Plains/Flagler traveling to Stratton/Liberty. Both team will get into the playoffs but it will come down to who wants the league title. Hi-Plains/Flagler has improved every game and are sitting 8th in the RPI. They would love to get the home game in the first round and that will be tough. Stratton/Liberty is sitting #2 and if they win this game will probably finish as the #2 overall team. I am going with Stratton/Liberty to win this game by 10. Should be a great game between these teams and a great warm up game for the playoffs. Another team also hoping for a playoff spot is Idalia. They are sitting in 14th are have a non-league game against Cripple Creek. Idalia cannot afford to lose that game if they lose that game they will be eliminated from the playoffs. If they win they should get in and mainly that is due to their SOS. The East Central has a big chance of getting all 5 teams into the playoffs. Right now Hi-Plains/Flagler and Stratton/Liberty are locks for the playoffs but the other 3 all still have work to do.

RPI of teams in league: 2 Stratton/Liberty .648, 8 Hi-Plains/Flagler .577, 11 Otis .544, 13 Arickaree/Woodlin .527, 14 Idalia .521
North
Fleming is your North League champion and have the home game in the first round. They currently have the #3 RPI and probably won’t be able to jump Stratton/Liberty unless they lose. North Park is pretty close to a lock for the playoffs right now as well. Fleming faces Prairie this week and should easily win and will probably end up either 3rd or 4th in the RPI and probably the same with the seed. North Park is playing a non-league game against Hanover and should also easily win and lock up a playoff spot. Peetz is sitting in 12th and are also close to a lock for the playoffs. They cannot afford to come up short in this last game against Weldon Valley. Weldon Valley is sitting in 21st and still hoping for a playoff spot. They are .22 back of the 16th place team. They will get a bump here with a win or a loss but they might need a win here to grab that last spot. Peetz should easily win this game and end Weldon Valley playoff chances. Pawnee is square on the bubble this week but have a .22 lead on 16th. If they win they get in I believe. They will be facing a desperate Briggsdale team. Briggsdale is sitting in 22 and Briggsdale will have to win this game to have any chance at all at the playoffs. I don’t think Briggsdale can pull the upset and I think Pawnee wins here by 28. I think the North will get 4 teams into the playoffs and I just don’t think there is enough points left for either Weldon Valley or Briggsdale to grab a spot.

RPI of team in league: 3 Fleming .643, 10 North Park .551, 12 Peetz .536, 15 Pawnee .511, 21 Weldon Valley .471, 22 Briggsdale .469
Southeast
The Southeast is all wrapped up baring a huge upset. Kit Carson locked up their league title last week by slamming Eads. They just have to beat Walsh this week and not get upset and they walk away with the league title. Kit Carson also is fighting for the #1 overall seed and they should be able to keep it if they win this game. Walsh would have to upset Kit Carson and get some help to get into the playoff they are currently 24th and I just don’t think they are close enough to have a chance at the playoffs. Branson/Kim is traveling to Cheraw this week. Cheraw has forfeited their past two games so it will be interesting to see if they play this week. Cheraw is currently in 17th place and if they win they probably could grab that last playoff spot. I was trying to see if there was an update if they were playing or not and looks like right now they will play. Branson/Kim is in 20th and also if they could grab the win would be in big contentions for the playoffs. They would need some help from the teams in front of them but one victory would give them a chance. The big game of the week has Eads traveling to Cheyenne Wells. Eads is coming off a blowout loss last week so they will have to quickly bounce back. They are in 7th place and are a lock for the playoffs. They would love to finish in second place and possibly finish high enough to grab a home playoff game. Cheyenne Wells received a forfeit last week so they had two weeks to prepare for this game. If Cheyenne Wells win they probably will get a home game in the first round. They are in 4th in the RPI and will be a title contender this year. If they win I bet they finish either 3rd or 4th in the RPI and will get the 3rd or 4th seed. Cheyenne Wells will need their physical style of defense if they plan on winning. I am going with Cheyenne Wells to win this game and I am picking them to win by 21. The Southeast will for sure get 3 teams in but the last spot will be interesting to see what happens with Cheraw and Branson/Kim. There are at least 7 teams with legit chances of grabbing the 16th seed. The 15th seed might be far enough ahead that they won’t get caught.

RPI of teams in league: 1 Kit Carson .690, 4 Cheyenne Wells .607, 7 Eads .588, 17 Cheraw .490, 20 Branson/Kim .477, 24 Walsh .451
Southwest
The league title race comes down to this week’s game. Cotopaxi makes the trip the San Luis Valley where they will face off against Sierra Grande. Sierra Grande will need a huge game from their team if they plan on grabbing a share of the league title. Sierra Grande currently sits in 18th place and have a chance at the last spot. They are .008 points behind 16th and regardless of if they win or loss will get a bump in the RPI. I think they would prefer a win here and of course a share of the league title. Cotopaxi is sitting in 6th place in the RPI and a win would give them a nice boost in the RPI and possibly enough to jump them up to 5th. Cotopaxi grab control of the league with a wild game against La Veta. Cotopaxi is looking to grab some momentum before they head into the playoffs and a win here would do that. I am going with Cotopaxi to win big. I am picking them to win by 31 points. La Veta is another team that is a lock for the playoffs. They currently are 9th in the RPI and should easily win this week. They face Primero who is 25th in the RPI and I think are just a bit too far away to have a chance at the playoffs. La Veta will be in contention for a home game with a win and some help. Manzanola is currently the last team in right now. They must win this game against Aguilar. The game won’t help too much in terms of the RPI but a win at least give you a bump in your WP. I have a feeling that Manzanola could get bumped out by a few teams and one of them could be a fellow league member. But like I said Manzanola must win this game to even get considered. I think the southwest will get 2 teams in for sure then it will be interesting to see how the 16th and final seed comes out.

Hanover at North Park
6 Man Player of the Week
The 6 man Player of the Week goes to True Miller of Briggsdale High School. In Briggsdale wild shootout win over Longmont Christian Miller ran for 290 yards and 6 touchdowns. I also have to give a co-player of the week to Longmont Christian starting quarterback Luke Puchino had an amazing day passing. He went 26 of 38 for 706 yards (yes 706 yards) 9 touchdowns and only 1 INT. The final score was 83 to 75 for a combined 158 points.
Quick Look at the playoffs if they started before the games tonight!
