Congratulations to the State Champions of Class 2A, 1A, and 8 Man. With the season coming to an end we had 6 teams battling to be the best in the state. In Class 2A La Junta jumped out to a 14 to 3 lead over Kent Denver in the first half and held on late to win 17 to 10 and capture their first state championship since 1958. In Class 1A Strasburg battled #1 Meeker and picked up a big 34 to 14 victory. Strasburg played a gauntlet of games facing 4 western slope teams and winning by less than 14 to any of them. In 8 man we had a rematch of last year’s state championship. Akron traveled to Sedgwick County. Sedgwick County proved once again that they are one of the more dominate programs in the state and won the state title 41 to 11 to win back to back championships. Now Sedgwick County will be looking for the 3 peat and are returning the talent to do so. Once again congratulations to La Junta (Class 2A), Strasburg (Class 1A), and Sedgwick County (8 Man).
