Class 3A Girls RPI Rankings and Playoff Situation

The same format for both Boys and Girls

Districts Determine own seeding Criteria

Seven Districts, each qualify two teams to the state brackets, with the remaining 18 teams determined by RPI

Qualifiers advance to a 32 teams regional/state brackets where the districts champions plus the next highest RPI finisher will host the regions

Seven District Champions and the 1st highest RPI qualifier will be placed on bracket in order 1-8 and will host the first round and sweet 16 games; seeds 9-32 will be placed on bracket in RPI, avoiding league/district opponents in the first round when possible

Seeds 24-32 may be moved to accommodate geographical considerations

Class 2A Boys RPI Rankings and Playoff Situation

The same format for both Boys and Girls

Districts Determine own seeding criteria, Eight Districts each qualify three teams to two regions, Regionals will feature girls game on Thursday and the boys on Friday and conclude the regional championships/State qualifier games on Saturday.

East Regional (Districts 2, 4, 5, 7, 8 with 38 teams) will qualify five teams to state.

West Regional (Districts 1, 3, 5 with 23 teams) will qualify three teams to state.

Regionals will be seeded according to RPI, with district opponents avoided in the regional bracketing when possible. Seeds 11-15 can be adjusted to accommodate geography.

Districts will jointly be responsible for the regional site, East Regional securing 2 neutral, central sites; the West Regional districts will secure one neutral, central site.

The 8 state teams will be seeded by RPI, avoiding regional and, if possible, districts match-ups.

2017-2019 Regional Pairing

East Region is made up of Districts 2, 4, 6, 7, and 8; West Region is made up of Districts 1, 3, and 5.

East District qualifies three teams to each respective regional tournament.

How Districts/Regionals/State Works

Eight Districts, each qualifying two or three (as noted) to three regionals

The #1 and #2 seeds from Districts 1 and 6 will be paired for 2016-2017 (in 2017-2018 it will be Districts 1 and 8) will be paired, while the #1, #2, #3 seeds from Districts 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8 (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 in 2017-2018) advance to a regional site. Regions 2s (4, 5, 8 2016-2017) and 3s (2, 3, 7), the nine qualify teams will be seeded by RPI, avoiding any previous district match-ups.  In Region 1, District 1 and 6 #1s will play the other districts #2s.  Regions 1 receives 2 state qualifiers, Regions 2 and 3 receive three state qualifiers each.
