MileHigh Prep Report Boys Basketball Rankings-1/23/2016
Class 3A Last Week
| 1. Resurrection Christian (13-0) | 1(2 weeks) |
| 2. Colorado Springs Christian (10-2) | 2 |
| 3. Manitou Springs (11-0) | 3 |
| 4. Alamosa (9-1) | 5 |
| 5. Kent Denver (9-2) | 6 |
| 6. Sterling (10-2) | 4 |
| 7. DSST-Stapleton (9-3) | 7 |
| 8. Faith Christian (8-4) | 8 |
| 9. Basalt (8-1) | 9 |
| 10. DSST-Green Valley Ranch (8-1 | 10 |
| · Others: Lutheran, Vanguard, Manual, Jefferson Academy, Machebeuf, La Junta, Rye, Strasburg, Weld Central, Pinnacle
Dropped out: none |
Notes: Very little movement in the top ten but in the top 20 there is a ton of movement. Within the top ten Sterling lost to Sidney NE so that drops them from #4 to #6. Alamosa and Kent Denver both move up one spot. 7 thru 10 all stay the same despite Faith Christian losing to D’Evelyn (4A). In the top 20 a lot of teams dropped and finally we are seeing Lutheran get on a nice win streak and push them closer to the top ten. If you look at the Preseason rankings 9 of the 10 teams are in the top 13 so we are finally able to see some teams make a small run to get back into the top 15. Still Kent Denver, Basalt, and DSST-Green Valley are the teams missed in the Preseason rankings. |
Class 2A Last Week
| 1. Highland (11-0) | 1 (2 weeks) |
| 2. Paonia (10-1) | 2 |
| 3. Del Norte (10-1)(8-3) | 3 |
| 4. Sedgwick County (11-1) | 4 |
| 5. Holyoke (9-2) | 5 |
| 6. Akron (9-1) | 6 |
| 7. Peyton (10-1) | 7 |
| 8. Crowley County (10-2) | 10 |
| 9. Fowler (9-2) | 8 |
| 10. Alexander Dawson | NR |
| · Others: Haxtun, Sanford, Dolores Huerta, Byers, Ignacio, Calhan, Meeker, Vail Mountain, Dayspring Christian, Hotchkiss
Dropped out: John Mall (9) |
Notes: No changes in the top 7 of the rankings as they were either victorious or suffered good losses. Akron and Peyton did lose and picked up their first losses of the year both to top teams in 2A and 3A. Crowley County makes the biggest leap jumping from #10 to #8 after they beat Fowler. Fowler slides back to #9. John Mall fall out of the rankings after going 2-3 in the past 2 weeks. The new team into the rankings is Alexander Dawson. This is their first appearance into the rankings. After 9 weeks of play I feel more and more confident in the top 5 teams in the state. They are all separating themselves from the competition and if it was not for Del Norte having to forfeit games for an ineligible player they would also only have one loss and the only reason that player played was because they were blowing out the two teams they were playing. Akron and Peyton I am 65% sure they are a top team but I am still not sold. After that #8 thru #10 are still all on the fence and after the top ten I am not sold on any teams yet as it seems I am rotating teams from the other every week. |
Class 1A Last Week
| 1. Holly (12-0) | 1 (6 weeks) |
| 2. Cheyenne Wells (9-0) | 2 |
| 3. Sierra Grande (9-1) | 4 |
| 4. Front Range Baptist (10-0) | 6 |
| 5. Rocky Mountain Lutheran (10-1) | 7 |
| 6. Flagler (10-2) | 5 |
| 7. Weldon Valley (10-1) | 3 |
| 8. Fleming | 8 |
| 9. Peetz (8-3) | 10 |
| 10. Wiley (7-4) | NR |
| · Others: Longmont Christian, Denver Jewish Day, Creede/Lake City, Jim Elliot, Kit Carson, Shining Mountain, Heritage Christian, Genoa-Hugo, Primero, Sangre De Cristo
Dropped out: Kit Carson (9) |
Notes: Once again a new team joins the rankings and some slight movement within the polls. #1 Holly, and #2 Cheyenne Wells don’t move but Sierra Grande moves up to #3 after Weldon Valley picked up its first loss of the year to Peetz. Front Range Baptist and Rocky Mountain Lutheran move up to #4 and #5 following Flagler losing to unranked Byers in 2A. Flagler dropped to #6 because they were playing a 2A team who is on a bit of a hot streak now. Weldon Valley dropped to #7 after picking up their first loss of the year and the reason I dropped them below Flagler is they have not been playing good basketball as of late. Fleming stay at #8 and Peetz moves up to #9. Kit Carson drops out of the rankings after going 2-2 in the past 2 weeks and Wiley replaces them. Right now I feel 1A has 8 very solid teams. After that till about the top 16 they are also very good and have been within the top 16 all season. 16 to 20 has somewhat rotated this season. |
