Class 2A Boys Basketball Breakdown

Playoff Picture Boys Basketball Colorado Class 2A

Playoff Picture Boys Basketball Class 2A

The information to get this together was pulled from the RPI and latest league standings. I every hope to do this every Tuesday or Wednesday.  I am using the league standing from Maxpreps.com I pulled the information on Monday and the RPI I am using is straight from CHSAA as of Tuesday 2/7/2017

Class 2A

Class 2A Regional and State information goes as follows: Districts Determine own seeding criteria for district tournaments, Eight Districts each qualify three teams to two regions, Regionals will feature girl’s game on Thursday and the boys on Friday and conclude the regional championships/State qualifier games on Saturday.

East Regional (Districts 2, 4, 5, 7, 8 with 38 teams) will qualify five teams to state.

West Regional (Districts 1, 3, 5 with 23 teams) will qualify three teams to state.

Regionals will be seeded according to RPI, with district opponents avoided in the regional bracketing when possible. Seeds 11-15 can be adjusted to accommodate geography. Districts will jointly be responsible for the regional site, East Regional securing 2 neutral, central sites; the West Regional districts will secure one neutral, central site.  The 8 state teams will be seeded by RPI, avoiding regional and, if possible, districts match-ups.

2017-2019 Regional Pairing

East Region is made up of Districts 2, 4, 6, 7, and 8; West Region is made up of Districts 1, 3, and 5.

Quick Note: The biggest note I think is that the West Region is giving the bye’s to the winner of each district tournament and also came out and that teams from the same district will not be place in the same pods and seeded by RPI.  Still a lot up in the air about the East Region but for this week I am going to follow suit with the west region and set it up the same way.  The bracket sets out pretty easy and creates some very interesting match ups in the pod finals.  My 8 teams going to state are: Sedgwick County, Highland, Crowley County, Peyton, Holyoke, Del Norte, Paonia, Sargent.  I laid out from these 8 teams the state bracket at the end of the article.  The state tournament is seeded by RPI and you avoid Regional and if possible district matchups.  One last thing is that the district tournaments are a huge part of deciding the final three teams so a lot could change if upsets happen.  Really looking forward to the district tournaments!
