Class 2A RPI Rankings and Playoff Situation

Note: This is the second week of the RPI. Things will change probably from week to week so teams just take care of your own business and win. The formula change from last year to this year give you a bit more control if you just take care of business and win!

Playoffs (Straight from Chsaanow.com): The Top 16 teams in the classification based on the final RPI rankings will be placed into the post-season bracket and the league champion also gets an automatic berth. If a conference champion is not rankings in the top 16 based on RPI rankings they will replace the lowest ranked team that is not a conference champion in the top 16.

Seeding Criteria (once qualifiers are determined)

The following criteria will be taken into consideration when seeding bracket, in no particular order: geography, RPI, common opponents, and head to head competition
A conference champion in the top 16 of the final RPI rankings will be a top 8 seed and will host a first round game
Aa conference champion no ranked in the top 16 of the final RPI rankings will be placed in the bracket but will not be guaranteed a top 8 seed and will not be guaranteed to host a first round game.
Conference opponents will not be paired against one another in the first round.

Notes: I really like how this year everyone in the Top 16 has a winning record. #17 and #18 are both 2-2. There was plenty of movement from last week to this week. Teams with some concerns are Machebeuf, Bayfield, and Salida. All three have low OWP and one loss could hurt their RPI.

Notes: A lot of 2-2 teams in 1A make for a very interesting RPI this week. Holyoke at #12 is the first 2-2 team then a slew of them from #15 down to #19. It will be interesting to see how next weeks rankings shape up if some of the 2-2 teams either lose or win. Clear Creek and Platte Canyon have inflated RPI due to their WP%. If either loses a game which they are both in the same league so that will help but their RPI will plummet very quickly their RPI are the lowest until Manual and Paonia at #13 & #14.

Notes: Not much to say about the 6-Man RPI. A lot of teams with .333 OWP but in 6-Man that is expected. The team I am most worried about is Sierra Grande. They have the #9 RPI but their OWP is just .167 that is extremely low. It will go up though due to playing La Veta and Cotopaxi.
