MileHigh Prep Report Final Power Rankings
In my final power ranking I am looking a ton at the bracket and looking who will make the most noise. I will have some shake-up in most of the rankings due to seeding and potential matchups in the quarterfinals.
Class 2A Last Week
| 1. Bayfield (9-0) | 1 (10 weeks) |
| 2. Kent Denver (9-0) | 2 |
| 3. Platte Valley (9-0) | 3 |
| 4. La Junta (8-1) | 4 |
| 5. Classical Academy (8-1) | 5 |
| 6. Basalt (8-1) | 6 |
| 7. Faith Christian (8-1) | 7 |
| 8. Sterling (7-2) | 8 |
| 9. Eaton (7-2) | 9 |
| 10. Machebeuf (8-1) | 10 |
| · Others: Salida, Aspen, Pagosa Springs, Elizabeth, Resurrection Christian, D’Evelyn | Notes: Looking at seeding my power rankings didn’t even change. They were almost identical to the bracket besides Sterling and Eaton being flipped. Sterling beat Eaton during the season which is why they are ranked higher. Machebeuf and Faith Christian will be a great game to see the outcome and might be the best game on tap for the first round. |
Class 1A Last Week
| 1. Bennett (9-0) | 1 (10 Weeks) |
| 2. Meeker (9-0) | 2 |
| 3. Strasburg (8-1) | 3 |
| 4. Centauri (9-0) | 4 |
| 5. Burlington (7-2) | 9 |
| 6. Paonia (7-2) | 6 |
| 7. Limon (7-2) | 5 |
| 8. Crowley County (8-1) | 7 |
| 9. Clear Creek (8-1) | NR |
| 10. Peyton | 8 |
| · Others: Monte Vista, Platte Canyon, Wray, Colorado Springs Christian, Cornerstone Christian, Highland | Notes: Due to the seeding I had to rearrange my rankings and also looked at match ups. Burlington shot up due to upsetting Limon but also giving Bennett their toughest game of the year. Limon dropped behind Paonia but really both Paonia and Limon if they upset the higher seeds will be playing the #1 and #2. Crowley County is the #7 seed but #8 in my rankings because they lost to Limon in the regular season. Clear Creek moved into the top 10 over Monte Vista because they have homefield and a passing attack that can shred a defense and Monte Vista is not known for their pass defense. Monte Vista though is #11 and have a good shot at pulling the upset. Peyton just edged out Monte Vista because they did win their league but they will be the underdog against Paonia. |
Class 8 man Last Week
| 1. Sedgwick County (8-0) | 1 (10 Weeks) |
| 2. West Grand (9-0) | 2 |
| 3. Merino (8-1) | 6 |
| 4. Hoehne (8-1) | 3 |
| 5. Holly (8-1) | 8 |
| 6. Fowler (8-1) | 4 |
| 7. Sargent (6-3) | 5 |
| 8. Springfield (6-3) | NR |
| 9. Gilpin County (7-2) | 7 |
| 10. Rocky Mountain Lutheran (7-2) | NR |
| · Others: Mancos, Haxtun, Caliche, Soroco, McClave, Norwood | Notes The seeding of the bracket made me shake up the 8-man rankings. #1 and #2 don’t change but after that everything moved. Merino moved from #6 to #3 because they have the easiest route to the semifinals. #4 Hoehne and #5 Holly play each other in the quarterfinals so one of them will be eliminated in the second round and Holly did upset Hoehne during the regular season. Fowler due to their #9 seed moved down to #6 because of their Matchup with Sedgwick County in the second round. Sargent moved to #7 for the season reason with #2 West Grand in the second round. Springfield moved into the top 10 with a league championship but a very tough first round game. Gilpin stays in the top 10 and Rocky Mountain Lutheran joins the Top 10 for the first time this year due to winning their league. Mancos and Haxtun are #11 and #12 and will be looking for an upset. Mancos has a better shot at an upset in the first round which is why they are #11. |
