How Class 2A State Tournament Works

With a slow week of games I figured this is a great time to show how each classifications State Tournament works.

Some changes were made to the State Tournament format mainly for Class 2A. What I am doing is using the RPI data I have saved from 1/27/2017 and the league standing associated with the date. Remember this is not a prediction on how the leagues or who will qualify for state. I will be doing Predictions for League next week. The first 2018 RPI is released 1/16/2018 and I will use a similar format to post an State Tournament Picture every week and as the season winds down I will make more predictions on who will get into the State Tournament.

Looking at this post right under Class 2A is the exact words used by CHSAA to determine Playoff Format. Class 2A had the biggest changes from last year to this year.

Class 2A

District/Regionals/State:

Identical Format for both Boys and Girls

8 Districts shall qualify a specified number of teams to the regional tournaments as follows:
4 Teams- District 1, 2, 4, 6, 7, 8; 5 teams-District 5; 3 teams-District 3

District Champions shall be seeded 1-8 based on RPI and shall host the regional Tournaments

The remainder of the teams shall be seeded 9-32 by RPI, Avoiding first round district matchups
RPI seeds 25-32 may be moved to accommodate geography if it benefits the entire bracket

8 regional winners shall be re-seeded and play a consolation bracket

District Qualifiers

District 1: Del Norte, Sanford, Center, Sargent

District 2: Holyoke, Sedgwick County, Akron, Haxtun

District 3: Ignacio, Telluride, Norwood

District 4: Byers, Burlington, Denver Christian, Limon

District 5: Paonia, Meeker, Vail Mountain, Rangely

District 6: Crowley County, Fowler, Hoehne, John Mall

District 7: Highland, Dayspring Christian, Alexander Dawson, Clear Creek

District 8: Calhan, Peyton, Dolores Huerta, Ellicott

District Champions and Regional Hosts (RPI Determines Seed):
