Girls Basketball Class 3A Playoff Projections

Final two weekends of the Regular season are upon us and if you are within the Top 20 of the RPI you are more than likely locked into making the playoffs baring losing the remainder of your games.  From 20 to 30 in the RPI you are still very much on the bubble and La Junta is .563 in the RPI and Manitou Springs is .521 which is still close, and teams must show up to close out the season.  Team 30-40 are fighting for one of the last playoff spots and you will need to have a good showing and a decent run in your league tournament.  If you are outside the Top 40 you are eliminated at this point in the season unless you capture a League title.  Next week I will give a full rundown of the leagues.

Class 3A

The playoff format for 3A goes as follows; Districts Determine own seeding Criteria for the district tournament, Seven Districts each qualify two teams to the state brackets, with the remaining 18 teams determined by RPI, Qualifiers advance to a 32 teams regional/state brackets where the districts champions plus the next highest RPI finisher will host the regions, Seven District Champions and the 1^st highest RPI qualifier will be placed on bracket in order 1-8 and will host the first round and sweet 16 games; seeds 9-32 will be placed on bracket in RPI, avoiding league/district opponents in the first round when possible, Seeds 24-32 may be moved to accommodate geographical considerations.  District Champions must finish in the Top 16 to host in the first and second round.
