
CLASS 3A VOLLEYBALL DAILY DIGEST – 9/15/22

The biggest match-up last night in Class 3A had Prospect Ridge Academy hosting Fort Morgan in non-league play. The two teams entered with a combined 11-4 mark. Prospect Ridge pulled out a tough five-set victory after falling behind 0-2. It was the second straight win for the Miners and their seventh in 10 outings this year. With the loss, Fort Morgan saw its four-match winning streak snapped. The Mustangs fell to 5-2 overall.
Prospect Ridge opens Metro play tonight by hosting Colorado Academy, who dropped its league opener to Faith Christian in three sets on Tuesday. The Mustangs had won three of their previous four matches before suffering that loss.
It’s a huge night in the Patriot league, with 12 of the 14 teams playing a league contest. Fourth-ranked University visits Frontier Academy, with the Bulldogs looking for a 3-0 start after beating Sterling in a sweep on Tuesday. Frontier Academy beat Estes Park in four on Tuesday and is 2-1 in the Patriot heading into tonight’s match.
Tuesday’s loss to University dropped #7 Sterling to 2-1 in the league. The Tigers host #9 Resurrection Christian tonight, looking for their first win over the Cougars in three meetings. The Cougars have not played since beating Wellington on the third of the month. Other key contests in the Patriot have #5 Platte Valley hosting Brush and Valley hosting Wellington.
Delta looks to remain unbeaten in the Western Slope, when the Panthers host Basalt tonight. The Panthers have won their last two following losses to Meeker and Centauri. The duo of Aadrey Fraser (104 kills) and Ellie Ames (98) have combined for more than 200 kills in eight matches. Basalt has dropped five of its last six.
