We are about three weeks into the regular season.  Most teams have competed in a few preseason tournaments and some teams have been playing a lot of games.  We are starting to get closer to the start of the league season.  All teams are looking for key momentum moving forward.

#1 Sedgwick County

The Cougars continue their season with a 9-1 record currently. They have not played any league games yet, so they are still 0-0 in league play. Sedgwick County beat Vail Mountain 3-0, Strasburg 3-2, Ignacio 3-0, and Chase County 3-0. They will be playing Liberty Common on 9/16 and then play their first league game against Wiggins on 9/21, both on the road. Top performers from the team are Abigail Dillie with 32 total blocks and 114 kills, Keyana Ehnes with 25 serving aces, Lainee Nein with 155 digs and 113 kills, and  Ryen Carlson with 174 assists.

#2 Wiggins

Wiggins is still holding onto their undefeated record of 9-0 overall and 1-0 in league play after defeating Stratton and Haxtun 3-0. This currently has them sitting 2nd in the Lower Platte League. Helping the Tigers maintain their undefeated record is Riley Hunt and Taelynn Epple with 13 total blocks, Tyleigh Fehseke with 107 kills and 17 serving aces and Kennedy Kerr with 74 digs and 251 assists. Wiggins will play Platte Valley on 9/16, and Akron on 9/19 and will be expecting to add two more wins to their record.

#3 Strasburg

Strasburg moves into this week with a 5-4 record overall and a 1-0 record on league play, sitting 1st currently in the Union Pacific League. In their recent games, Strasburg beat Byers, Front Range Christian, and Holyoke 3-0, but lost to Sedgwick County in a close game 2-3. Stat leaders are Natalie Damron with 18 total blocks and 92 kills, and Peighton Marrero with 20 serving aces, 81 digs and 192 assists. They will be playing The Academy on 9/14 to try and get another win added to their record.

#4 Fowler

Fowler defeated Crowley County 3-0, and lost to Hoehne 0-3 to get a 5-2 overall record, 4-1 in league play, putting them at 3rd in the Santa Fe League. The Grizzlies will be facing Swink on 9/14 and Las Animas on 9/19 and will be looking to move up their rank. Leading the team in stats is Madison Porto with 9 total blocks, Kory Pieper with 23 serving aces and 59 digs, Syriah Alvarez with 134 assists, and Lawren Johnson with 57 kills.

#5 Rye

Rye sits currently with a 8-1 overall record with a 5-0 league record, placing them 1st in the Santa Fe League. This last week they were able to get the wins over Pueblo Central, Las Animas and Crowley County ass 3-0. Helping to solidify the Thunderbolts rank are stat leaders Isabella Bond with 26 total blocks, Jacklyn Newitt with 38 serving aces and 134 assists, Desiree Ruiz with 149 digs and Jordan Holgerson with 67 kills. To keep their rank in the league and continue putting wins on their record, Ry will face Holly at home on 9/16, and St. Mary’s on 9/19 on the road.

#6 Limon

Limon is sitting 4th in the Union Pacific league with a 1-1 league record and 4-2 overall record. In the previous week, the Badgers defeated Genoa-Hugo/Karval 3-0, but lost to Bennett in a tight match 2-3. Leaders from Limon are Teal Schmidt with 21 total blocks and 9 serving aces,  Katelyn Tacha with 98 digs and 121 assists, and Jentri Marx with 72 kills. The Badgers will be looking to move up in the league rankings this week and they face Flagler on the road on 9/14, and will be looking to win against Merino on 9/19.

#7 Lake County

Lake County remains undefeated currently, and are sitting with a 9-0 overall record, 3-0 in league, and are 2nd in the Frontier league. The Pnathers defeated KIPP Denver Collegiate 3-0 this last week and will be looking to continue their winning streak this week against Arrupe Jesuit on 9/16 and Middle Park on 9/19. Helping the team on their winning streak are stats leaders Jaycee Windorski with 16 total blocks and 169 kills, Kelsea Roeder with 39 serving aces, and 52 digs, and Maggie Roedoer with 226 assists.

#8 Front Range Christian

The Eagles currently have an 11-2 overall record and are 2-0 in league play. They are currently sitting 3rd in the Mile High League. Front Range Christian defeated their opponents Vail Mountain 3-0, Meeker 3-1, and Clear Creek 3-0 this last week, but lost to Strasburg 3-0. The Eagles will face Dayspring Christian Academy on 9/16, and Bishop Machebeuf on 9/19 to try to add more wins to their record. Top performers from Front Range Christian are Skyla Anglada 30 total blocks and Allie Howard with 33 serving aces, Hannah Keyfauver with 228 digs, Emma Bolz with 316 assists and Eadlin Hoff 111 kills.

#9 Mancos

After defeating Dolores 3-0 and Montezuma-Cortez 3-1, the Bluejays remain undefeated with a 9-0 overall record and 3-0 league record and are in 1st in the San Juan Basin League.  Mancos will be looking to continue the winning streak this week against Nucla on 9/16 at home and Dove Creek 9/19 on the road. Mancos is led by Haylie Higgins with 30 total blocks, Aysia Mathews with 23 serving aces and 222 assists, Teya Yeomans with 111 digs and 142 kills.

#10 Hoehne

The Farmers had mixed results this previous week, losing to Alamosa 3-0, but bouncing back and defeating Fowler 3-0. Hoehne currently has a 6-3 overall record, 3-1 of that being from league play, leaving them at 5th in the Santa Fe league. Leaders from the team are Aspen Garrison with 21 total blocks, Ellegra Gutierrez with 26 serving aces, Phoenix SanRoman with 80 digs and 132 assists, and Janae Ramos with 78 kills. The Farmers will be looking to get more wins under their belt with week with their games against Las Animas on 9/14, and Rocky Ford on 9/19.

Swink

The Santa Fe League is lead by the Swink Lions and a 5-0 league record and a 6-1 overall record. This last week the Lions beat Rocky Ford 3-0. They will be looking to continue their success against Fowler on 9/14 and against Swallows Charter Academy on 9/19. Swink is led by Taylor Mendenhall with 21 total blocks and 55 kills, Kylee Romero with 19 serving aces, Larriana Taggart with 101 digs, and Briana McElroy with 80 assists.

Trinidad

Sitting at 3rd in the Southern Peaks League, the Miners have yet to be defeated with a 8-0 overall and a 2-0 league record. They beat Primero 3-1, Crested Butte 3-0, and Custer County 3-1.  They will host the Sanford Mustangs on 9/14 and Primero on 9/20. Leading Trinidad is Hannah Chavez with 10 total blocks, Monse Viera-Flores with 36 serving aces and 27 kills.

Ignacio

Ignacio has a 7-3 overall record and a 0-1 league record, and are sitting 6th in the San Juan Basin. The Bobcats beat Denver Christian 3-0 and Holyoke 3-2, but lost to Sedgwick County 3-0. They will be looking to come back and find a win this week against Dove Creek on 9/16. Stat leaders from Ignacio are Soly Mar Cosio with 41 total blocks and 79 kills, Kelly Sirios with 22 serving aces and 206 assists, and Ollyvia Howe with 129 digs.

Buena Vista

Sitting 3rd in the Southern Peaks League with 2-0 league record and 8-3 overall record Buena Vista defeated Salida 3-2, Del Norte 3-1, and Monte Vista 3-0. The Demons will be looking to beat Center on 9/14 and Crested Butte on 9/19 to add some wins to their record and potentially move up their league rank. Stat leaders from Buena Vista are Daisy Lubbers with 54 total blocks, Sydney Feuerstein with 21 serving aces, Hannah Wingo with 92 digs, Audrey Johnson with 133 assts, and Madeline Litvay with 92 kills.

Plateau Valley

Beating North Fork last week 3-0, Plateau Valley has a 6-1 overall record and a 3-1 league record. The Cowboys are led by Kyanna Himes with 8 total blocks, Meloni Miller with 41 aces and 148 assists, Sierra Piland with 54 digs, and Emaline Ealey with 81 kills.  They will be hoping to add some wins and move up their rank this week when they face Vail Mountain on 9/15 and Cedaredge on 9/19.

Sargent

Currently 1st in the Southern Peaks league, the Famers have a 2-0 league record and are 5-3 overall. They are currently on a 4 game winning streak and most recently defeated Center 3-0. Their next game will be on the road against Custer County on 9/14 where the Famers will be looking to continue their winning streak. Leading Sargent in stats are Makayla Brown with 14 total blocks 56 digs and 40 kills, and Reese Anderson with 13 serving aces and 109 assists.

Sanford

Going 1-0 so far in league play and 5-4 overall, the Mustangs are sitting 2nd in the Southern Peaks League. Last week, they defeated Crested Butte 3-0 and South Park 3-0. Sanford will be looking to continue their way up this week as they play Trinidad on 9/14 on the road. Leading the Mustangs so far this season are Riley Willet with 4 total blocks,  Keylee Anderson with 7 serving aces, Brooklynn Reynolds with 66 digs, Rylee Price with 45 assists, and Shasta Bond with 32 kills.
