We look at all 16 matchups and all 32 teams this week in our Class 3A Softball Regional Capsules. This is a great read to learn about the teams in your regional. Games kick off Saturday and Good Luck to all teams fighting to advance.
Site 1 – Eaton HS
1 Eaton Vs 32 Jefferson Academy
Eaton enters the tournament as the number one seed with a 22-1 overall record. Their single loss game earlier this season against Holy Family, but since then, the Reds have won 14 games straight. Stat leaders for Eaton are Sadie Ross with 10 home runs and 37 RBI, Emma Anderson with 21 stolen bases, 31 runs and 33 hits, and Julia Meagher with a 0.19 ERA.
Jefferson Academy was the last team to make it into regionals. They have an overall record of 11-12 on the season, with most of their wins being by large margins. Leaders for the Jaguars are Elasah Shupe and Shaelee Torres with1 home run, Shaelee Torres with 14 stolen bases, 27 runs, 28 hits and an 18 RBI.
Eaton and Jefferson Academy will face one another on 10/14 at 10:00am in Eaton. The winner will advance and play at 2:30pm against the winner of La Junta and Forge Christian.
16 La Junta Vs 17 Forge Christian
La Junta ended their regular season 16th with a 14-9 overall record and 3rd in the Tri-Peaks league. Six of the last games were won consecutively. Top players for the Tigers are Makenzee Pounds with 4 home runs and a 19 RBI, and 19 runs, Hunter Wallace with 16 stolen bases and a 3.95 ERA, and Yliani Garcia with 23 hits.
Forge Christian has a 12-8 overall record and finished 2nd in the Denver Metro league. Top players for the Fury are Rio Beck with 1 home run, 26 stolen base 31 runs, 37 hits, Julianna Alfaro with 4.77 ERA, and Peyton Chester with a 19 RBI.
La Junta and Forge Christian will play in Eaton at 12:15 on 10/14. The winner will advance and play the winter of Eaton and Jefferson Academy at 2:30pm.
Site 2 – Strasburg HS
2 Strasburg Vs 31 Cedaredge
Strasburg comes into regionals as the number two seed with a 19-4 overall record and finished 4th in the Patriot league. Their losses came from Rocky Ford, Lyons, Eaton, and Berthoud, and are on an 8-game win streak. Stat leaders for Strasburg are Graecyn Graf with 5 home runs, 9 stolen bases, 34 runs, 36 hits, and a 39 RBI, and Anna Vetter with a 3.44 ERA.
Cedaredge comes into regionals with a 6-15 overall record and finished 5th in the Western Slope League. Their wins this season come from Aspen, Basalt, Montrose, and Gunnison. Top players for the Bruins are Elizabeth Galley and Kaylynn Oconnel with 2 home runs, Elizabeth Galley with 10 stolen bases, Tia Homedew with 28 runs, Jewel Laliberte with 31 hits, and Kaylynn Oconnel with a 27 RBI.
Strasburg and Cedaredge will play in Strasburg at 10:00am on 10/14. The winner will advance and play the winner of Brush and Meeker at 2:30pm.
15 Brush Vs 18 Meeker
Brush starts their playoff run after an 11-12 season record. They had some tough opponents this season and finished 9th in the Patriot league. Top performers for the Beet Diggers are Brisa Aguirre-Garcia and Alysia Hernandez with 2 home runs each, Michelle Headley with 12 stolen bases, Brisa with 33 hits and 31 runs, and Alysia Hernandez with a 25 RBI.
Meeker comes in 2nd place in the Western Slope League and have a 13-8 overall record. The Cowboys are currently on a 9-win game streak and will be trying to continue this streak. Stat leaders for Meeker are Ryann Mergelman with 3 home runs and a 49 RBI, and Miah Wren with 21 stolen bases, 42 runs, 35 hits.
Brush and Meeker will face one another in Strasburg on 10/14 at 12:15pm where the winner will advance and play the winner of Strasburg and Cedaredge at 2:30pm.
Site 3 – Twin Rivers Softball Field, Greeley
3 University Vs 30 Arvada
University finished the season 2nd in the Patriot league and with a 18-5 overall record. The Bulldogs are on a 3-game win streak after a season long 7 game win streak earlier in the season. Stat leaders for University are Jasi Cole, Sydney Goetzel, and Natalie Galindo with 4 home runs each, Ellie Baca with 15 stolen bases, Jasi Cole with a 2.64 ERA, Natalie Galindo with 29 runs and 35 hits, and Sydney Goetzel and Natalie Galindo with a 30 RBI.
Arvada ends the regular season with a 9-11 overall record and 4th in the Frontier league. They just lost to Fort Lupton which ended a 3-game win streak, but will be looking to continue their win streak into post-season play. Top players for the Bulldogs are Amiah Picaso with 6 home runs, 16 stolen bases and a 42 RBI, and Alyssa Moreno with a 6.82 ERA, 33 runs, 37 hits.
University and Arvada will play one another at 12:15 on 10/14 at the Twin Rivers Softball field. The winner will advance and play the winner of Wellington and Alamosa at 2:30pm.
15 Wellington Vs 19 Alamosa
Wellington finished their season with a 13-10 record and 7th in the Patriot league. The Eagles had a 6-game winning streak earlier in the season and are currently on a 2 game winning streak. Top players for Wellington are Kensley Story with 6 home runs, 41 runs and 29 hits, Charley Somday with 30 stolen bases, and Scarlet McGuire with a 25 RBI.
Alamosa starts their post-season play after a 12-8 overall record. The longest win streak the Mean Moose had this season was 4 games. Stat leaders for Alamosa are Lexany Heredia with 3 home runs and a 31 RBI, Araceli Molina with 13 stolen bases, 25 runs and 24 hits, and Olivia Castillo with a 4.85 ERA.
Wellington and Alamosa will play on 10/14 at 10:00am at the Twin Rivers Softball Field where the winner will play the winner of University and Arvada at 2:30pm.
Site 4 – Delta HS
4 Delta Vs 29 Holyoke
Delta comes in as the 4th ranked team overall with a 19-3 record and 1st in the Western Slope League. The Panthers 3 losses came in the beginning of the season against Eaton, Strasburg and Fort Lupton. They are now on a 19-game win streak and will be looking to have continued success through the post-season. Stat leaders for Delta are Juelz Sandoval with 5 home runs and a 43 RBI, Tatem Miller with 36 stolen bases, a 0.44 ERA, and 44 runs, and Velma Baily with 40 hits.
Holyoke finished the season with a 12-11 record. They are currently on a 4-game win streak after losing their season long 5 game win streak. Top players for the Dragons are Nicole Schlachter, Fallon Bamford, and Elyce Sisseck with 1 home run each, Samantha Seger with 51 stolen bases, 42 runs and 43 hits, and Fallon Bamford with a 22 RBI.
Delta and Holyoke will play at 10:00 am on 10/14 at Delta High School where the winner will advance and play the winner of Sierra and Weld Central at 2:30pm.
13 Sierra Vs 20 Weld Central
Sierra ended their regular season 2nd in the CSML North League with a 14-6 overall record. Their losses this season came from Pueblo Centennial, Pine Creek, Elizabeth, Thomas Jefferson and Legacy and had a 7-game long win streak earlier in the season. Top players for the Stallions are Samantha Venegas with 8 home runs and a 28 RBI, Marisa Reyes with 33 stolen bases, a 4.27 ERA, and 36 runs, and Maritza Enriquez with 31 hits.
Weld Central comes into the post-season with an overall record of 11-12 and finishing 8th in the Patriot league. They had a season high 4 game win streak and will be looking to bounce back now after having two losses. Stat leaders for the Rebels are Bailee Park and Brielle Bange with 1 home run each, Bailee Park with 23 stolen bases, 22 runs, and a 19 RBI, and Annastasia Hernandez with 33 hits.
Sierra and Weld Central will plat at 12:15 on 10/14 at Delta High School where the winner will advance and play the winner of Delta and Holyoke at 2:30pm.
Site 5 – Lyons HS
5 Lyons Vs 28 The Classical Academy
Lyons start their play-offs after a 16-5 overall season record. With a 5-game win streak earlier in the season, the lions finished the season 5th in the Patriots league. Stat leaders for Lyons are Ceci Chiaravalle with 2 home runs, a 1.69 ERA, and an 18 RBI, Elle Magaldi with 21 runs, and Ava Vasquez with 27 hits.
Finishing 4th in the CSML North league, The Classical Academy ended their regular season with a 7-10 record. Top players for TCA are Veronica Santos with 1 home run, Ada Wilson with 11 stolen bases, a 20 RBI, and a 4.52 ERA, Adelynn Miller with 22 runs, and Ada Wilson with 26 hits.
Lyons and The Classical Academy will face one another at Lyons High School on 10/14 at 10:00am where the winner will advance and play the winner of Lamar and Gunnison at 2:30pm.
12 Lamar Vs 21 Gunnison
Lamar enters regionals with a 16-7 overall record. With a 7-game win streak earlier in the season, the Thunder ended the regular season 4th in the Tri Peaks league. Top performers from the Thunder are Delorin Bellomy with 3 home runs, 15 stolen bases, 39 hits, a 31 RBI, and a 2.29 ERA, and Annabelle Morales with 38 runs.
Gunnison is currently on a 3-game win streak and finished their season with a 13-9 overall record. The Cowboys ended their regular season 3rd in the Western Slope League. Stat leaders for Gunnison are Maddie Vollendorf with 4 home runs, Isabella Crown, and Maddie Vollendorf with 15 stolen bases, Maddie again with 42 runs, and Kylee McDougal with 37 hots and a 36 RBI.
Lamar and Gunnison will play on 10/14 at Lyons High School at 12:15pm where the winner will advance and play the winner of Lyons and TCA at 2:30pm.
Site 6 – Metropolitan State Softball Field
6 The Academy Vs 27 Valley
The Academy ended their season 1st in the Denver Metro League and with an overall record on 19-4. After dropping an 8-game win streak, the Wildcats are currently on a 5-game win streak that they hope to continue in the playoffs. Stat leaders for The Academy are Isabella Bruntz and Mackenzie Pearson with 6 home runs, Victoria Pearson with 13 stolen bases, a 1.17 ERA, and 53 runs, and Isabella Bruntz with 42 hits and a 48 RBI.
The Vikings enter post-season play 6-16 overall and 13th in the Patriot league. Valley is currently on an 8-game losing streak which they hope to break now in the playoffs. Top players for Valley are Jennie Doolittle with 1 home run, Brianna Mercado with 27 stolen bases and 29 runs, Danica Flesner with 29 hits and an 18 RBI.
The Academy and Valley will play at 10:00am on 10/14 at the Metropolitan State Softball Fields where the winner will advance and play the winner of Fort Lupton and Montezuma-Cortez at 2:30pm.
11 Fort Lupton Vs 22 Montezuma-Cortez
Fort Lupton ends their regular season with a 17-5-1 overall record and 1st in the Frontier League, going perfect in league play. They are currently on a 4-game winning streak that they will be fighting to continue.
Montezuma-Corez starts their playoffs after an 11-12 season. They had a 4-game win streak earlier in the season and finished 4th in the Western Slope League. Stat leaders for the Panthers are Kenzi Whipple with 2 home runs, Julia West with 11 stolen bases, Saylor Martinez with 40 runs, Emily Carber with 37 hits, and Devyn Cornett with a 33 RBI.
Fort Lupton and Montezuma-Cortez will face one another at 12:15 on 10/14 at the Metropolitan State Softball Field where the winner will advance and play the winner of The Academy and Valley at 2:30pm.
Site 7 – Thomas Jefferson HS
7 Thomas Jefferson Vs 26 Wray/Yuma
Thomas Jefferson finished the regular season with an 18-4 overall record. With a season high 9 game win streak, the Spartans finished 1st in the Denver Prep League. Top players for Thomas Jefferson are Maya Cordova with 3 home runs, Layla Colonna with 27 stolen bases, 42 runs and 46 hits, Mikayla Macias with a 2.28 ERA, and Sophia Sandoval with a 41 RBI.
Wray/Yuma split their season and went 11-11 in the regular season. Five of their wins came consecutively mid-way through the season and they were able to finish 2nd in the Lower Platte League. Stat leaders are Deland and Davis with 1 home runs each, Ridnour with 20 stolen bases, 24 runs and 26 hits, and Davis with a 21 RBI.
Thomas Jefferson and Wray/Yuma will play at 12:15pm on 10/14 at Thomas Jefferson High School. The winner will advance and play the winner of Rocky Ford and Resurrection Christian at 2:30pm.
10 Rocky Ford Vs 23 Resurrection Christian
The Meloneers enter the playoffs with a 15-8 overall record. They ended their season 2nd in the Tri Peaks league and are currently on a 5-game win streak. Top performers for Rocky Ford are Leticia Garcia with 3 home runs, a 32 RBI and a 3.56 ERA, Deja Warman with 21 stolen bases and 39 runs and Kamil Lovato with 37 hits.
Resurrection Christian ends their regular season with a n 8-12 record and 10th in the Patriot League. They are currently on a 4-game losing streak following their season long 4 game win streak. Stat leaders for the Cougars are Olivia Martinez with 6 home runs and a 36 RBI, Tess Williamson with 12 stolen bases, 34 runs and 31 hits, and Karissa Lippincott with a 5.54 ERA.
Rocky Ford and Resurrection Christian will play at 10:00 am at Thomas Jefferson High School on 10/14. The winner will advance and play the winner of Thomas Jefferson and Wray/Yuma at 2:30pm.
Site 8 – Mason Field
8 Sterling Vs 25 Peak to Peak
Sterling is the last team to host after a 15-7-1 overall record. They finished 6th in the Patriot league after a 7-game win streak. Stat leaders for the Tigers are Addison Steele with 3 home runs and a 31 RBI, and Haley Emmerson with 42 stolen bases, 42 runs, and 40 hits.
Peak to Peak comes into regionals with an 8-15 overall record and 3rd in the Denver Metro League. The Pumas had a 3-game win streak earlier in the season that they will be looking to match now in the post-season. Top players for Peak to Peak are Sydney Cusack with 3 home runs, 18 stolen bases, 35 runs and a 29 RBI, and Maggie Wallis with 34 hits.
Sterling and Peak to Peak will play at 12:15pm an 10/14 at Mason Field. The winner will advance and play the winner of Wiley and Limon at 2:30pm.
9 Wiley Vs 24 Limon
Wiley ends their regular season with a 16-3 overall record and 1st in the Tri Peaks league. They are on a 5-game win streak currently where an additional win will give them a tie for their lonest streak this season at 6. Top players for the Panthers are Kara Wilson with 2 home runs, Rachel Kopasz with 14 stolen bases, Bethany Summers with a 2.60 ERA, Dixie Bitner with 32 runs, Lexi Shotton with 29 hits, and Anna Wollert with a 32 RBI.
Limon has an overall record of 6-16 and finished 1st in the Lower Platte League. The longest win streak the Badgers had this season was 4 games, and they will be looking to start a fresh win streak now in the postseason. Stat leaders for Limon are Jazzy Rosler and Jayli Lockhart with 1 home run each. Jazzy Rosley has 18 stolen bases, 32 runs and a 26 RBI, and Kornelia Florek with 29 hits.
