Class 2A Football Playoff Projections & Predictions Week 10

This year to reach the playoffs is simple. Either win your league title or be inside the top 16 of the CHSAA Seeding Index. After they select the 16 teams that make the playoffs, they use the CHSAA Seeding Index to seed the playoffs. This week I will be giving my predictions on who makes the playoffs, but I will also look at if the season ended today who would make the playoffs at the end. Good Luck to all teams.

Class 2A Playoff Predictions (Who I think make the playoffs)

This is who I think make the playoffs and who win the leagues. In Class 2A all-league champions are guaranteed a berth. The rest will be selected by CHSAA Seeding Index. Seeding is determined by CHSAA Seeding Index. I am picking my 9 At-Large teams via non-league schedules, remaining schedules, and how I think teams will do. League Champions are posted first then the At-Large Teams.

League Champion Predictions

Colorado: Kent Denver

Kent Denver is your Colorado League Champion

Front Range Mountain: Berthoud

Berthoud is your Front Range Mountain Champion

Intermountain: Delta

Delta will face Montezuma-Cortez for the Intermountain League Championship. If Delta wins, they are your league champions. If Montezuma-Cortez wins it forces a three-way tie with Delta and Pagosa Springs.

Patriot Central: Wellington

Wellington is your Patriot-Central League Champions

Patriot East: University

University will face Sterling for the Patriot East Championship. If University wins, they win the league title outright. If Sterling pulls the upset, then it forces a three-way tie with Brush and University.

Southwest: La Junta

La Junta will face Florence for the Southwest League Championship. If La Junta win they are your league champions. If Florence pulls the upset, then it forces a three-way tie for the league title.

Western Slope: Rifle

Rifle is your Western Slope League Champions

Playoff Hunt for Final Spots

Montezuma-Cortez, Platte Valley, Denver West, Sterling

I think in Class 2A the top 16 is all but wrapped up. Alamosa is about .0100 ahead of Platte Valley and Montezuma-Cortez. I believe that if Alamosa beats Woodland Park this Friday they are in. The only way we see chaos is if Alamosa loses to Woodland Park. If that happens then I believe Montezuma-Cortez would need to upset Delta to push for the last spot. Platte Valley and Denver West could also be in the mix with wins but they are not playing very strong opponents this week. Sterling is the team with a ton on the line. If they upset University and force the three way tie they could jump up enough to challenge Alamosa if Alamosa loses.

Note:

I kept TCA ahead of Elizabeth, but the winner of TCA vs Elizabeth will be the #7 with the loser falling to #8 possibly #9. Via the rules I could swap Alamosa and Florence. I think CHSAA could leave Alamosa at #16 and Florence at #15 for travel purposes.

This is if the season ended today 10/26/2023. Using the CHSAA Seeding Index I will come up with the Playoff field. League Champions selected with my Predictions. I will seed & select the bracket with the CHSAA Seeding Index. Remember this is still early and things will change. The league champions I selected are at the top with the at-large berths following.
