8-Man Football Playoff Predictions First Round and Full Bracket

First, this is just my opinion.  I would love to hear or see your thoughts on how the 6-man bracket turns out.  Second, Good Luck to all teams!  I do not cheer against any teams.  We will have a full preview of the first-round games posted tomorrow or Friday by Kerry Sherman.

8-Man Playoff Predictions 1^st Round Only

#1 Mancos over #16 Fowler

Mancos has just 1 loss this season to #3 Haxtun.  Mancos was dominate against all other teams and will look to get started on the right foot.  Fowler will have to play physical defensive football and look for their passing attack to be key to pull the upset.

#9 Sedgwick County over #8 West Grand (Best Game)

I think this will be a great game.  Sedgwick County will be tasked with stopping a dual threat QB.  Sedgwick County must also be dominate up front on offense and run the ball.  West Grand will be looking to bounce back from their only loss this season and their defense must be ready to play physical.  West Grand will need their QB to play outstanding to move into the quarterfinals.

#4 Lyons over #13 Akron

I think this could be a very interesting matchup.  Lyons went undefeated this season and will be tasked with a very physical Akron team right off the bat.  Lyons was only challenged by Byers this season who did beat Akron.  Akron, I think could pull the upset but will have to play physical on the line of scrimmage.

#5 Dove Creek over #12 Vail Christian

Dove Creek will look to start their title defense.  I think Dove Creek will have to play physical up front and control the line of scrimmage.  Vail Christian will have to match physicality if they plan on the upset.  I think Dove Creek comes out strong in this game.

#2 Simla over #15 Front Range Christian

Simla will be looking to make a return trip to the State Championship, and they will be looking to start out strong.  Look for Simla to come out hot in this game and establish their style of play.  Front Range Christian will have to play their best defensive game of the season.

#7 Merino over #10 McClave (Second Best Game)

I think this could be a very interesting game.  Merino ended the season on a high note upsetting Haxtun and winning the Plains League Championship.  They are faced up against McClave who won the Ark Valley League.  This is going to be a very physical game with both teams looking to control the line of scrimmage.  Don’t expect a ton of points scored in this game.

#3 Haxtun over #14 Calhan

Haxtun will have one mission on their mind and that is winning the state championship.  They ended the season on a sour note so look for them to come out hot right away.  Calhan will have to match the intensity in this game and must get the rushing attack going. 

#6 Byers over #11 Sanford (Third Best Game)

This is a very interesting matchup.  Byers ran the table besides their lone loss to Lyons.  Byers does lack quality wins besides their win over Akron to start the year.  Sanford also lacks quality wins besides their 4 point win over Fowler on 9/15.  Sanford lost big to Simla and Mancos but nearly pulled off the win over Dove Creek.  I think this is going to be a great game.  Controlling the line of scrimmage will be key.  I think for Sanford to pull the upset they need to keep the score under 40 against Byers.  I think this is a one score game.
