Class 1A

RankTeamNotes
#1Briggsdale

Defending State Champions
Briggsdale is your defending State Champions.  Briggsdale will look to defend their State Title but have a group of teams looking to pass them up.  Briggsdale returns key leaders with POY Candidate Jenna Krise (23.5 ppg) and Kayl Kelm (10.0 ppg).  Briggsdale main concern will be depth and finding a #3 scorer to step up.
#2McClave

Made State Tournament Runner Up
McClave was your runner up from a season ago falling to Briggsdale in the State Championship.  McClave is loaded looking for a return trip and to avenge their loss.  McClave returns 4 of their top 5 scorers including key leadership in POY Candidate Abrielle Gomez (14.9 ppg), Mckayla Kiniston (9.7 ppg), and Ashlynn Steinbrunn (7.1 ppg).  McClave will also have a transfer that could also help push the #1 team.
#3Stratton

Made State Tournament (Went 2-1, 5th Place)
Stratton made the State Tournament last season finishing in 5th Place.  Stratton gained key experience for this upcoming season as they look to push for the State Title.  Stratton returns their top three scorers in Sedonia Isenbart (17.7 ppg), Sophia Isenbart (10.4 ppg), and Clare Miltenberger (4.9 ppg).  Stratton will look to continue to develop depth and improve on last season.
#4Dove Creek

Made State Tournament (Went 2-1, 3rd Place)
Dove Creek made the State Tournament last season finishing in 3rd Place.  Dove Creek will have a few big holes to fill from last season losing their top two scorers but have depth and talent back to push for another deep run.  Dove Creek will look for Kylie Gatlin (10.6 ppg), Kalie Gatlin (8.3 ppg), and Ralynn Hickman (5.2 ppg) to step up as leaders.  Dove Creek will need that leadership to step up and more depth scorers to fill big shoes.
#5Flatirons Academy

Made State Tournament (Went 1-2, 4th place)
Flatirons Academy made the State Tournament last season finishing in 4th place falling to Dove Creek in the third-place game.  Flatirons Academy lose a big piece in their #1 scorer but have the depth back to push for a deep run.  Emma Cox (14.7 ppg), Emily Dehaan (13.5 ppg), and Annabelle Rakes (10.3 ppg) will take over this season and be the leaders.  Flatirons Academy will search for depth behind their top 3 scorers.
#6Fleming

Made State Tournament (Went 1-2, 6th Place)
Fleming made the State Tournament last season falling in the 5th place game to Stratton.  Fleming will have some key holes to fill losing 3 of their top 5 scorers.  Madi Serrato (8.1 ppg) and Ciana Lousberg (5.2 ppg) must step up as leaders this season.  Fleming is well coached so don’t expect to see a huge drop off from a perennial State Tournament team.
#7Cheyenne Wells

Lost at Regionals to McClave
Cheyenne Wells did not make the State Tournament last season falling in the Regionals Finals to McClave.  Cheyenne Wells started the year slow but by the end of the year had things turned on.  Paige Ryser (11.5 ppg) will once again be the leader but with depth gaining key playing time last year look for Shaylee Scheler (6.7 ppg) and Izzy Trevino-Lopez (4.4 ppg) to take a big step this season.
#8Idalia

Lost at Regionals to Stratton
Idalia did not make the State Tournament last season falling in the Regional Finals to Stratton.  Idalia will return plenty of key pieces to make a push for the State Tournament this season.  Idalia returns 4 of their top 5 scorers from last season.  Jaylyn Kechter (11.8 ppg), Krista Wieser (9.5 ppg), and Ailyn Monarrez (7.3 ppg) will be tasked with being leaders this season.
#9Kit Carson

Made State Tournament (Went 0-2)
Kit Carson made the State Tournament last season going 0-2.  Kit Carson will hope to make a deeper run this season but will have some key holes to fill.  Kit Carson will lose their top two scorers from last season and will look for some depth to step up.  Lindsey Mayhan (6.8 ppg), Payge Booker-Rady (5.8 ppg), and Nadaya Buttry (4.8 ppg) are some names who could take over as the top scorer this season.
#10Kiowa

Lost at Regionals to Fleming
Kiowa did not make it to the State Tournament last year falling in the Regional Finals to Fleming.  Kiowa will look to push past regionals this season but have a key piece to replace losing their #1 scorer.  Kiowa will return the rest of the roster including key pieces in Jordan Perreault (13.0 ppg), Paola Vidales (10.2 ppg), and Lauryn Morehead (7.0 ppg).  Kiowa will need depth scoring to step up this season.
#11Hi-Plains

Lost at Regionals to Flatirons Academy
Hi-Plains did not make it to the State Tournament last year falling to Flatirons Academy at regionals. Hi-Plains gained valuable experience last season as they will look to push past regionals.  Hi-Plains will return key pieces from last season with leading scorer Caelan Church (9.1 ppg) coming back.  Depth scoring will also be back in Serenity Hernandez (6.4 ppg) and Jessica Sayles (6.3 ppg).  The main question is can the offense get going thru the year and push for state.
#12Otis

Lost at Regionals to Cheraw
Otis did not make the State Tournament last year falling to Cheraw at regionals.  Otis will return 3 of their top 5 scorers as they push for a deeper playoff run.  Otis will look for Aedyn Tribelhorn (9.2 ppg), Alli Hornung (9.0 ppg), and Madelyn Willeke (8.1 ppg) to step up as leaders this season.  Depth is the main concern for Otis this season and if it can develop they could make a deep run.
#13Cheraw

Lost at Regionals to Dove Creek
Cheraw did not make the State Tournament last year falling to Dove Creek in the Regional Finals.  Cheraw returns plenty of talent to push for the State Tournament and will look to put it all together.  Cheraw returns 3 of their top 5 scorers from a season ago.  Crislyn Miell (9.4 ppg), Kieran Harris (5.5 ppg), and Delaney Bond (3.6 ppg) will be tasked with being leaders.  Depth is also the issue for Cheraw as they will need some depth to take a big step this season.
#14Eads

Lost at Regionals to Briggsdale
Eads did not make it to the State Tournament falling to Briggsdale in the Regional Finals.  Eads was young last season and took big strides towards the end of the season.  Eads will look to put it all together and push for that State Tournament berth.  Eads returns leading scorer Tailee Weeks-Johnson (9.9 ppg) along with #2 scorer Lexi Shotton (5.0 ppg) and Alessandra Paez (5.0 ppg).  If the depth continues to develop watch out for an Eads to push for a deeper run.
#15North Park

Lost at Regionals to Granada
North Park did not make it to the State Tournament falling to Flatirons Academy at Regionals.  North Park will have some key pieces back this season as they try for a run at State again.  Dezirae Gonzales (21.0 ppg) returns to be the leader along with Abby Altwine (10.8 ppg). The main question for North Park is who else steps up this season.
#16Sangre De Cristo
Lost at Regionals to North Park
Sangre De Cristo did not make it to the State Tournament falling to North Park.  Sangre De Cristo will look to push past regionals and return the talent to make the push.  Sangre De Cristo will lose their top scorer from a year ago but have a trio of scorers who look to be leaders in Idahlia Garcia (9.9 ppg), Palma Enriquez (9.9 ppg), and Presley Wilson (8.0 ppg).  Depth will be the main factor to help pick up the scoring threat.
