State Championship Predictions Class 2A thru 6-Man Football

Before the games kick off today, I wanted to give my predictions on the State Championship games.  Remember I am not cheering against any teams and that this is all fun.  I believe we have 4 amazing state championship matchups and I want to wish all team’s good luck.  Leave it all out on the field and fight for a shot at history!

Overall Record: 517-107 through Semifinals

Playoff Record: 44-12

Class 2A

Overall Record: 141-33

Playoff Record: 9-5

#1 Delta over #3 Rifle By 10

This is going to be a great game.  These two teams meet early in the season with Delta grabbing the 21-point win. I expect a much closer battle this time around and we get to see two dynamic QBs square off again.  I also believe we have two of the better defensive teams so don’t expect a ton of points.  I am giving Delta the slight edge but remember it’s never easy to beat a team twice in the same season.  Good Luck to both teams.

Class 1A

Overall Record: 131-21

Playoff Record: 11-3

#1 Limon over #6 Strasburg by 12

I believe I had these two teams as the #1 and #2 teams in the preseason rankings and here they are meeting in the State Championship.  Limon has continued to play outstanding defense all year including last week.  Strasburg is playing their best football of the season.  These two teams have a ton of history and I expect the final chapter (Strasburg moves back to 2A) to be a great one.  Strasburg will need their defense to play outstanding once again and look for Limon to match their intensity.  Both teams have tons of playmakers on both sides of the ball and expect a great game.  Good Luck to both teams.

8-Man Football

Overall Record: 127-28

Playoff Record: 13-1

#3 Haxtun over #1 Mancos by 3

The semifinals lived up to the hype of the top four teams in 8-Man.  Mancos and Haxtun both advanced and they played an epic game during the regular season that was decided by a last second play by Haxtun.  I think the winning team will probably have to score more than 21 points but don’t expect a super high scoring game.  Both teams appear to be healthy as well and after last week’s performance this was my choice as the toughest game to pick.  Tons of playmakers, a pair of game changing QBs, and both sides play amazing defense.  I am looking forward to this game.  Good Luck to both teams.

6-Man Football

Overall Record: 118-28

Playoff Record: 11-3

#1 Stratton over #6 Cheyenne Wells by 28

Stratton and Cheyenne Wells meet the opening game of the season with Stratton holding an early first quarter lead before Stratton had a huge 2nd Quarter.  Cheyenne Wells is playing by far their best football of the season and are coming off back-to-back upsets.  They will have to play physically on both sides of the ball and will need the same offensive output this week to grab their third upset.  Stratton will have to match physicality and be ready to play a full 4 Quarters.  Stratton has the top playmakers to match up with anyone and their defense can play around and make tackles in open space.  Expect both teams to line up and assert dominance in this game.  Good Luck to both teams.
