MileHigh Prep Report Boys Basketball Week 3 Rankings (Class 3A thru 1A)

Two weeks of play have already happened.  Most teams have played at least two games, and we are still very early in the season.  I will probably have big changes in the rankings for the first few weeks until we get a feel of the season.

Class 3A

 Last Week’s Ranking

2. Manual (2-0)2
3. Strasburg (4-0)4
4. Vanguard (3-0)5
5. Salida (4-0)NR
6. Windsor Charter (5-0)7
7. Stargate School (3-1)NR
8. Centauri (2-1)3
9. Yuma (2-1)8
10. Forge Christian (3-1)10
Others: Skyview Academy, Meeker, Rye, Buena Vista, Machebeuf, Montezuma-Cortez, Ignacio Dropped out: Skyview Academy (6), Meeker (9)
Notes: We have plenty of movement in the rankings this week.  Salida and Stargate School join the rankings this week after both picked up wins over preseason top 10 teams.  Salida moves in at #5 and Stargate School at #7.  Centauri falls from #3 to #8 after being defeated by Salida.  SkyView Academy and Meeker fall out of the rankings both fell to teams who either join the top 10 or where top 10 teams.

Class 2A

 Last Week’s Ranking
1. Wray (1-3)1 (2 weeks)
2. Simla (4-0)6
3. Plateau Valley (4-1)3
4. Crowley County (4-0)4
5. Limon (1-1)2
6. Sanford (1-1)5
7. Merino (1-1)7
8. Mancos (1-1)8
9. Holyoke (2-1)9
10. Heritage Christian (2-1)10
Others: Holly, Fowler, Elbert, Denver Christian, Byers, Loveland Classical Dropped out: None
Notes: I have decided to leave Wray at #1 despite their 1-3 start.  All losses were quality loses and two were to out-of-state opponents.  I only had minimal movement in Class 2A with most teams losing to 3A opponents.  Simla made the largest jump defeating Limon, Merino, and Holyoke.  Limon falls from #2 to #5.  I think this next week or following week will really show us how good teams are.

Class 1A

 Last Week’s Ranking
1. Stratton (2-0)1 (2 weeks)
2. Peetz (4-1)7
3. Otis (2-2)2
4. Cheyenne Wells (1-2)4
5. Sierra Grande (3-1)6
6. Idalia (1-2)10
7. Eads (3-1)8
8. McClave (2-2)9
9. Belleview Christian (3-0)NR
10. Arickaree (3-0)NR
Others: Granada, Genoa-Hugo, Nucla, Briggsdale, Pikes Peak Christian, De Beque, Springfield, Denver Jewish DayDropped out: Genoa-Hugo (3), Granada (5)
Notes:  Plenty of movement in Class 1A this week.  This was a hard week to judge with many teams playing either out-of-state opponents or playing 2A or higher schools.  Wins over other top 10 opponents were taken with high regard and expect plenty of changes in Class 1A especially with some big tournaments coming up.
