Class 4A Girls State Tournament Predictions

Not a ton of upset in the opening round and should make for a great Sweet 16. I expect a few more upsets in this round but should be a great round of basketball. The Girls Elite 8 plays on 3/2 at the Denver Coliseum.

Ann Strother Abromaitis Region

#1 Holy Family over #16 Moffat County

Moffat County played well in their opening game but they will have to raise it to another level to try and knock off the #1 team. Holy Family made quick work of their opening game but expect a much bigger challenge in the Sweet 16.

#9 Peak to Peak over #8 Kent Denver

These two teams are very familiar with each other, and this will be the rubber game. Kent Denver beat Peak to Peak 48 to 31 the first time and Peak to Peak beat Kent Denver the second time 40 to 34. Expect a great game between these two league rivals.

Anita Stites-Rowland Region

#12 Eaton over #5 Pagosa Springs

Both teams won big in the opening round and expect a great game between two regulars in the post season. Eaton has played the tougher schedule and I think proves to be the difference. Regardless this will be one of the better games of the sweet 16.

#4 Resurrection Christian over #13 Jefferson Academy

Both teams picked up 20+ point victories in the opening round and should set up a great matchup. Both teams are battle tested against quality opponents.

Charlotte Jorgensen Region

#2 D’Evelyn over #18 Severance

D’Evelyn dominated their opening round matchup breaking the 90-point mark in the game. Severance picked up the road upset defeating Alamosa 40 to 29. D’Evelyn has been a top team all season and look for another high scoring game in this contest.

#7 University over #10 Delta

I believe this could be another great matchup. Both teams dominated their opening round opponent, and both teams are riding high into the post-season. University is more battle tested playing in a tougher league but look for this to be a phenomenal game.

Jenny Coalson Region

#6 Colorado Academy over #11 Lutheran

In my opinion the second-best matchup of the opening round. I think both teams are evenly matched, and I could see this game going either direction. Neither team was challenged in the opening round and I am interested to see the results of this game.

#3 Riverdale Ridge over #14 Classical Academy

Riverdale Ridge made quick work of their opening round opponent holding Weld Central to 11 points. TCA was in a nail bitter holding off a pesky Summit squad and winning 41 to 37. TCA will have to bring the defensive intensity to pull the upset.
