Class 1A Boys Basketball Regional Predictions
Regionals is here and it’s win or go home time. Reaching Regionals is one of many steps for teams looking to reach the State Championship. To reach the state tournament is simple. Win your Region and you will go to the State Tournament. 8 regions and 8 teams advance to the State Tournament. They will reseed the State Tournament based off the final Seeding Index published after Districts. Remember this is just our opinion and we are not cheering against any team. We know all the hard work that each team has put in to reach this point. Good Luck to all 32 teams!
Region 1 at McClave
#1 McClave over #32 North Park
#17 Pikes Peak Christian over #16 Springfield
I think the #16 vs #17 game will be a good one. Two teams with size and both teams wanting to take their shot at the #1 team.

The winner of PPC and Springfield will take their best shot at the #1 team. I think McClave has the experience to make another deep push but will be tested in the regional finals.
Region 2 at Cheyenne Wells
#2 Cheyenne Wells over #31 Dove Creek
#15 Arickaree over #18 Denver Waldorf
Arickaree defeated Denver Waldorf a few weeks ago in a closer matchup and expect this to be another great matchup. Cheyenne Wells will be heavily favored in their game.
#2 Cheyenne Wells over #15 Arickaree
This will be a great test for Cheyenne Wells. I think Arickaree has shown they can beat the top teams but will have to play their best game of the season to shock the #2 team.
Region 3 at Denver Jewish Day
#3 Denver Jewish Day over #30 South Baca
#14 Front Range Baptist over #19 Kim/Branson
Denver Jewish Day will be heavily favored in their matchup. Front Range Baptist will also be heavily favored but Kim/Branson is playing their best basketball of the season and are playing with confidence. I could see an upset in this game.

If this matchup happens it’s a league rivalry matchup. DJD defeated Front Range Baptist 63 to 53 and I expect a similar if not closer result the third time around.
Region 4 at Stratton
#4 Stratton over #29 Moffat
#13 Otis over #20 Sangre De Cristo
Otis vs Sangre De Cristo is an interesting matchup. Sangre De Cristo has the height to challenge Otis, but I think Otis pulls away from Sangre. Stratton should win but Moffat does have some length.

If Stratton faces Otis it will be for the fourth time this season. I keep saying it and I will say again beating someone twice in a year is hard but for the fourth time will make things very interesting. Stratton beat Otis 55 to 51 the last time they played. I expect a great game if this happens again.
Region 5 at Belleview Christian
#5 Belleview Christian over #28 Granada
#12 Idalia over #21 Primero
I think Belleview Christian got one of the harder draws of the top 5 teams. Granada is fully healthy and played tough against McClave and Eads. I think they can make things very interesting for Belleview Christian, but I think Belleview Christian pulls away. Idalia, I think wins against Primero.

I believe this will be a fantastic game that will come down to if Idalia guards can take this game over. I could easily see an upset happening here and this should be a close game.
Region 6 at Sierra Grande
#6 Sierra Grande over #27 Wiley
#11 De Beque over #22 Cheraw
Both high seeds will be favored in their matchups. I think Cheraw vs De Beque could a interesting matchup as Cheraw has played a tough schedule. De Beque will be looking to bounce back.

Sierra Grande vs De Beque if it happens will be a great game and a fast-paced game with both teams pushing the tempo. If this matchup happens, I think either team can win and advance and this is one of the better regional matchups in Class 1A.
Region 7 at Peetz
#7 Peetz over #26 Centennial
#10 Eads over #23 Genoa-Hugo
Both higher seeds could be tested in the opening round. Centennial and Geona-Hugo if they get hot could make things very interesting for the higher seeds. I do think both the higher seeds do get the win.

Possibly the best matchup of the regional round. Eads vs Peetz will come down to who gets hot from the field. Defense will also be a big part of this game and I expect a very close game. This should come down to the wire.
Region 8 at Nucla
#8 Nucla over #25 Prairie
#9 Flatirons Academy over #24 Briggsdale
I think both high seeds could be tested in the opening round. Briggsdale, I think could be a true test for Flatirons Academy if they have a big game from their top player.

If the result happens most people will see this as an upset despite Nucla being the higher seed. Nucla is playing their best basketball and used a huge upset of De Beque to host. They will have to continue playing high level of basketball to pull another big upset at Regionals.
