Class 3A Girls Basketball Regional Predictions
Regionals is here and it’s win or go home time. Reaching Regionals is one of many steps for teams looking to reach the State Championship. To reach the state tournament is simple. Win your Region and you will go to the State Tournament. 8 regions and 8 teams advance to the State Tournament. They will reseed the State Tournament based off the final Seeding Index published after Districts. Remember this is just our opinion and we are not cheering against any team. We know all the hard work that each team has put in to reach this point. Good Luck to all 32 teams!
Region 1 at Peyton
#1 Peyton over #32 Lyons
#17 Vanguard over #16 St. Mary’s Academy
#16 vs #17 should be a good one as both teams hope to take their shot at the #1 team.
#1 Peyton over #17 Vanguard
Peyton looks to make their run to the State Tournament this season. They will be tested in the regional finals but should advance.
Region 2 at Bennett
#8 Bennett over #25 Platte Valley
#9 Strasburg over #24 Ellicott
I think Bennett vs Platte Valley will be extremely close and I could easily see an upset in this round. Bennett gets by with their scoring threats.
#9 Strasburg over #8 Bennett
Strasburg has played well down the stretch and look for them to continue that in this round.
Region 3 at Yuma
#5 Yuma over #28 Brush
#12 Montezuma-Cortez over #21 Meeker
I think both higher seeds will be favored in their matchup. I do think both of the low seeds make things interesting in the first half.
#5 Yuma over #12 Montezuma-Cortez
I think Montezuma-Cortez could make things very interesting in this game. I am leaning Yuma because of their experience and playing at home. Cortez has shown they can upset a top team.
Region 4 at Centauri
#4 Centauri over #29 Thomas MacLaren
#13 Cedaredge over #20 Banning Lewis
I don’t see any upsets in this round but, I think Banning Lewis could make things interesting for Cedaredge.
#4 Centauri over #13 Cedaredge
Cedaredge is playing their best basketball but I think Centauri moves on with their pressure style defense and state tournament experience.
Region 5 at C.S Christian
#2 C.S Christian over #31 Gunnison
#15 Olathe over #18 Buena Vista
Olathe vs Buena Vista should be a good one. The winner will take their best shot at the #2 seed.
#2 C.S Christian over #15 Olathe
C.S Christian will look to reach the state tournament to defend their state title. I think Olathe could cause problems early but C.S Christian has the depth to move on.
Region 6 at Highland
#7 Highland over #26 Prospect Ridge
#10 Roaring Fork over #23 Windsor Charter
The higher seeds should advance here as long as they don’t overlook their opponents.
#7 Highland over #10 Roaring Fork
Possibly the best matchup in the regional finals. Highland has proven they are the top team in their league and Roaring Fork took the #3 team to the edge last time. This will be a great game with the winner battle tested for state.
Region 7 at St. Mary’s
#6 St. Mary’s over #27 Forge Christian
#11 Timnath over #22 Ignacio
Timnath vs Ignacio will be one of the better games of the opening round of regionals. Winner will look to pull an upset in the next round. Ignacio is a scary team to play as they have pulled a few big upsets.
#6 St. Mary’s over #11 Timnath
Regardless of who St. Mary’s faces they will be challenge in the regional’s finals. St. Mary’s has the experience to advance and home court.
Region 8 at Grand Valley
#3 Grand Valley over #30 Platte Canyon
#14 Salida over #19 Jefferson
The higher seeds should advance here as long as they don’t overlook their opponents.
#3 Grand Valley over #14 Salida
I think this could be a solid matchup. Salida will have to play their best game of the season to try and pull the upset.
